Let It Roll: Songs By George Harrison

2009, Capitol Records

Rating: 4.5/5

This single disc is about as good as it can be in spanning the lengthily career of George Harrison. Over the years we have seen a couple of compilation album’s of Harrison’s work but neither of them spanned his entire solo career, until now. LET IT ROLL does an excellent job of bringing to you his early music as well as some later recordings.

Compiling songs for a single disc of Harrison’s greatest works is no easy task. There will always be disagreements as to what songs should be included and what shall be left off. It comes down to personal choice for some but for the most part there is no denying the vast majority of material to include.  For fans of George Harrison we already own his catalog so there is nothing new for us except the fact that we have a nice one disc collection to take with us. For those who like a couple songs and those just beginning to discover his music then LET IT ROLL is ‘the’ disc to begin your collection. Having such classics as “My Sweet Lord” and “Isn’t It A Pity” alongside latter hits like “Got My Mind Set On You” is perect. Add in a live rendition of his Beatles song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Something” and you have the near perfect collection.

You cannot go wrong having this in your collection.
