Nils Lofgren To Release "The Loner – Nils Sings Neil" on Tuesday, July 22nd

As the publicist for Nils Lofgren, I wanted to make you aware of his forthcoming album titled, The Loner – Nils Sings Neil.

Slated for official release on Tuesday, July 22nd, the CD features Nils Lofgren paying homage to one of our generation’s most popular songwriters, Neil Young, with fifteen renditions of some of Young’s greatest songs (see below for entire track listing).

On The Loner – Nils Sings Neil — his seventh solo release on the Vision Music label — Lofgren performs on vocals, guitar and piano as well as co-producing the album with longtime friend and cohort David Briggs.

Although perhaps best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band (guitar and vocals since 1984), Nils began his musical career almost four decades ago when he joined Neil Young’s band, first performing (piano/guitar/vocals) on the critically-acclaimed 1970 release After The Gold Rush.

The landmark recording (co-produced by David Briggs) would mark the first of many collaborations with Young, including a stint with Neil’s band, Crazy Horse, beginning the following year.

In the late eighties, and again in the early nineties, Nils went on tour with Ringo Starr as a part of Ringo’s All-Starr Band.

Fast forward to 2008…

The talented multi-instrumentalist has now released more than two dozen solo albums and continues to be an integral part of the E Street Band.

He’s been on tour with Bruce since the end of February and will continue on the trek that is expected to at least last throughout the end of August.

In addition to releasing this new CD and being on tour, Nils has been immersed in his Online Guitar School that features instructional videos containing lessons for both beginning and intermediate players.

KEATON SIMONS: “Can You Hear Me” Debut Album Out Now on CBS Records

It’s been years in the making, but the time to share his music on his terms has finally arrived for singer/guitarist/songwriter KEATON SIMONS.  His debut album, CAN YOU HEAR ME, was released June 10 on CBS Records.

Produced by Dave Bianco (Mick Jagger, Zach De La Rocha, The Black Crowes), the album mines the classic singer/songwriter traditions spawned by greats like Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, John Hiatt and other artists known for their soulful sway.  The album’s first single, “Good Things Get Better,” is racking up spins on radio stations nationwide and he’s set to perform the track on the “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on Monday, July 21.

Thanks to the label’s familial relationship with CBS Television, songs from CAN YOU HEAR ME (“Mama’s Song” and “Unstoppable”) have already appeared on various CBS programs, including “NCIS” and “Numb3rs.”  Keaton’s music will be featured in future episodes of these and other shows throughout the new Fall TV season.

In touring news, Keaton is getting ready to launch a U.S. tour with Ernie Halter, and he’ll be doing a slew of dates with Curtis Peoples and Todd Carey in August.  In the midst of all these shows, he’ll be making a special in-store acoustic performance/signing appearance at Borders in Cincinnati, OH on Sunday, August 31.  Keaton will also be participating in Koffeehouse Music Productions’ “An Evening of Independence,” a benefit concert on Sunday, August 10 at the Ford Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, CA.  The show will also feature performances by A Fine Frenzy, Tyrone Wells and Matt Scannell (Vertical Horizon), among many others, and is supporting the Guitar Center Music Foundation.  Tickets are currently available at
www.koffeehouse.com.

Throughout CAN YOU HEAR ME, Keaton’s tasteful Rock/Blues fretwork, masterful songwriting and searing vocals bring an honesty and integrity that’s instantly embracing, a warm emotional center core that reaches from the tangled vulnerability of opening track “Without Your Skin” and the lean, sensual drift of “To Me” to the spry suggestion of the title track and the playful intrigue of “Misfits.”  “Nobody Knows” proves instantly infectious, its sinewy rhythms wrapping around an irresistible refrain, while “Good Things Get Better” touts an optimistic view of the bonds that develop and strengthen through the inevitable ups and downs of relationships.

“I wanted to get back to honest, straight-forward expression; a purity and dynamic that relied on the strength of the songs and not the added embellishment of the arrangements,” Keaton insists. “I think this album represents who I am as an artist and captures the sound of my live performances authentically.”

In a recent Sunday “Calendar” feature story, Scott Gold of the Los Angeles Times praised the album as:  “…a deft effort at capturing Simons’ unusual and versatile sound. The songs include delicate, jazzy ballads and powerful blues numbers, peppered with elements of Elvis Costello, Eagle-Eye Cherry and Lenny Kravitz.”

While Susan Frances of Hybridmagazine.com raved:  “…the album shows Simons’ valid attachment to what affects regular people’s lives, the way blue-collar rock artists like Bruce Springsteen and The Allman Brothers have done in the past. Like these guys, Simons’ album takes music from the bar-room to the world stage and never loses its credibility to connect with regular people’s lives along the way.”

Music seems to be in Keaton’s genes.  He was singing from the time he started talking…even before his first birthday.  By the time he was two, he was entertaining his classmates in day care.  At age twelve he was already adept on guitar, and by fourteen he had decided to make music his career. That obsession carried over to college, earning him a degree in Ethnomusicology–the study of World Music–at The Evergreen State College in Washington State.  Absorbing a varied array of classic influences–Hendrix, Dylan, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, B.B. King and Robert Johnson among them–he immersed himself in all forms of music, from Rock to Jazz, Blues to Bluegrass and melded them into a mix that’s timely and timeless.

In 2004, he signed a deal with Maverick Records, which led to a critically acclaimed debut EP called CURRENTLY.  The title track garnered massive airplay at several radio stations around the country, including L.A.’s leading tastemaker station KCRW.  It also achieved Top 5 rotation on MTVU, MTV’s specially formatted college outlet, sharing top spins with Green Day and Eminem.

Around the time of the EP’s release, he was featured in the hit TV shows “Malcolm in the Middle” and “American Dreams.”  He also appeared in the movie “Hollywood Dreams” (from noted independent director Henry Jaglom) and continued to tour, gaining exposure before increasingly larger audiences and sharing the stage with such notable names as Coldplay, Chris Isaak, Gnarls Barkley, Five For Fighting and Josh Kelley, with whom he co-wrote three songs for Kelley’s upcoming album.  Keaton capped his accomplishments at that time with a second place win in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Competition.

Voices of Rock Radio To Make Debut in Belgium on August 4th!

On Monday, August 4, Voices of Rock Radio will make their long-awaited debut performance in front of an enthusiastic Belgium crowd as part of Lokerse Feesten (www.lokersefeesten.be).

The super vocal group, which has been in rehearsals since the beginning of Summer, features Kevin Chalfant (The Storm/707), Jimi Jamison (ex-Survivor), Derek St. Holmes (ex-Ted Nugent Band), John Cafferty (Beaver Brown Band) and Wally Palmar (The Romantics). Joining the five for the on-stage festivities will be Josh Ramos (The Storm/Two Fires) and Kevin’s Fly2Fr33dom Band.

In what promises to be "an entire festival of hit songs in one band," Voices of Rock Radio will be performing approximately twenty songs in all, including such hits as "Eye of the Tiger," "I’ve Got A Lot To Learn About Love," "Stranglehold," "On The Dark Side," "What I Like About You," "The Search is Over," "Megaforce," "Cat Scratch Fever," "Tender Years" and "Talking In Your Sleep" amongst a barrage of other well-known chart topping songs sung by the original singers of the hits.

In addition, the audience can expect to hear a Journey hit or two such as "Don’t Stop Believing" and "Separate Ways" in the set as Chalfant briefly took over lead vocals for the band in the mid-90′s.

"When you hear and see these singers performing all of these hits in one show, it’s like tuning into your favorite rock radio station and cranking it up full blast through a 50,000 watt stereo," states Kevin Chalfant. "You will simply love every minute of it!"

Derek St. Holmes says, "Experience the resurrection of real rock… this show is a powerful rock experience to be had by all."

Wally Palmar comments, "’Voices’ is like opening a can of instant hits… guaranteed to rock you hard."

Jimi Jamison adds, "The band is as solid as the rock it plays!"

John Cafferty expresses that the collaboration of the singers "Ain’t nothin’ but a Rock’n’Roll party and everybody’s bringing their hits… get your dancing shoes on!"

As of now, it appears that the first slated date for Voices of Rock Radio (with the possible exception of Wally Palmar and John Cafferty) in the United States will be at Waterfest in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on Thursday, August 21.

BLESSID UNION OF SOULS:  ‘CLOSE TO THE EDGE’ OUT SEPTEMBER 16

After rotating band members, management companies and record labels over the past few years, BLESSID UNION OF SOULS—founders lead singer/songwriter, Eliot Sloan and bassist Tony Clark, along with six year vets Bryan Billhimer (guitars) and Shaun Schaefer (drums)–are back with the band’s sixth studio album, CLOSE TO THE EDGE.  It’s due out September 16 on Torque Records (distributed by Sony/Victory/Red).  The first single, “Could’ve Been With Me,” is currently being serviced to radio stations nationwide and will be made available on iTunes in the coming weeks.

With CLOSE TO THE EDGE, the Cincinnati band embarks on an album that is more indicative to what the four of them bring to the table musically.  Taking eight tracks from their previously independent album, PERCEPTION and adding four fresh new songs to the record, the band is back in full force with a new outlook on their careers.

Blessid Union Of Souls fans can be reassured that they have not abandoned the song writing integrity that helped establish them as one of the premier groups of the past decade. Their knack for simple, sing along melodies can be heard in the instantly likeable “I’ll Be There” and their taste for intriguing themes is evident in their opening track, “Back From The Dead,” which is an emotional, personal piece about recovery from addictions.

“CLOSE TO THE EDGE, in its entirety and its title, represents exactly where we are as a band,” explains lead singer Eliot Sloan.  “There’s a sense of urgency in this record that was completely unintentional and I think it turned out better than anyone in the band expected.  It’s the record we’ve been trying to make for the last 5 years, and to hear it as a completed work, knowing it’s about to be released to the masses, has us feeling like this is the first record we’ve ever released.”

Blessid Union Of Souls has been blessed indeed since their 1995 debut.  They’ve had eight Top 40 hits including “I Wanna Be There,” “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me)” and “I Believe,” which reached #1 in the U.S., Southeast Asia and England while becoming the fourth most played song of 1995; they’ve performed worldwide with The Goo Goo Dolls, Bon Jovi, Shania Twain, Sarah McLachlan and with Mike and The Mechanics at two sold-out shows at Royal Albert Hall in England; their songs have been heard in movies with Jodie Foster, Jim Carrey and Penny Marshall, as well as on TV shows like "Cold Case," "All My Children," "Dancing With The Stars" and "American Idol.”

With their humble, not-so-rock-star attitude, radio-friendly songs and an absolute love for their fans, Blessid Union Of Souls continues to defy odds and remain a steady, driving force on the music scene.  With their new album on the horizon and a tour to follow, the band doesn’t complain about the climate of the industry, they just continue to do what they’ve done from the beginning that have made them a mainstay in pop music:  write songs from the heart.

Stay tuned for news about U.S. tour dates launching later this year…

WHO KILLED AMANDA PALMER SET FOR RELEASE SEPTEMBER 16

Multi-talented songstress Amanda Palmer is set to release her first solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer on Roadrunner Records on September 16th.  One half of the creative force behind The Dresden Dolls, Amanda has amassed mountains of critical acclaim touring the world as vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter for her band. By experimenting with broader musical stylings on Who Killed Amanda Palmer, Amanda showcases endless creativity, exposing herself as a woman whose artistic endeavors have no boundaries.

Who Killed Amanda Palmer began as a minimal affair:  Amanda decided to record a solo album for piano and voice, made in her bedroom, finished in a week.   During a chance meeting with Ben Folds in Australia, the two bonded over mutual loves and suddenly the record was moved out of the bedroom and into Folds’ Nashville-based, piano-filled recording studio.  With Ben Folds acting as producer, the songs on Who Killed Amanda Palmer (a name initially meant as a Twin Peaks reference that has since come to take on new meanings for Amanda) began to come alive, resulting in what is some of the best recorded work of her multi-faceted career.

Mixing the magical and the macabre, the mundane and the sentimental, Who Killed Amanda Palmer is a musical tour de force, the culmination of nearly ten years’ worth of songwriting.  Some songs on the album pop and twist with the intensity of their own subject matter while others are soft and intimate, revealing sides of Amanda not usually seen within her work in The Dresden Dolls.  Featuring guest turns from the likes of The Dead Kennedys’ East Bay Ray (on “Guitar Hero”), St. Vincent’s Annie Clark (on a warped take on Carousel’s “What’s the Use of Wondrin”), cellist Zoe Keating, and string arrangements by master composer Paul Buckmaster, Who Killed Amanda Palmer gives Amanda’s compositions new color via expansive instrumentation and glorious arrangements.

Who Killed Amanda Palmer will feature liner notes written by celebrated graphic novelist Neil Gaimen, with whom Amanda will be collaborating on a photography book in tandem with the album’s release. Amanda is set to embark on a tour in support of the album this fall.

The tracklisting for Who Killed Amanda Palmer is as follows:

1.      Astronaut

2.      Runs in the Family

3.      Ampersand

4.      Leeds United

5.      Blake Says

6.      Strength Through Music

7.      Guitar Hero

9.      What’s the Use of Wondrin

The Saw Doctors Sell Out 20th Anniversary Concert in Ireland, Band Arrives in the US in August

Following the sell out success of The Saw Doctors 20th Anniversary Concert in Salthill Park, on Saturday July 26th, Fáilte Salthill have confirmed that The Saw Doctors will play a second concert in the Melody Tent, a 3,000 capacity Big Top Marquee, in Salthill Park, Galway, on Sunday July 27th.

The Saw Doctors hope to film and record the two Salthill concerts on July 26 and 27 for a 20th Anniversary Concert DVD and live album, which Shamtown Records will release in December.

"We’re absolutely delighted with the success of the 20th Anniversary Concert in Salthill Park on Saturday July 26" said Band Manager, Ollie Jennings.  "It’s amazing to have sold 3,000 Saw Doctors tickets in the past week for the Salthill Park concert on July 26".

Special guests at the two Salthill Park concerts on July 26 and 27 will include former band members who have played with The Saw Doctors over the past 20 years including Pearse Doherty and John Turps Burke.  It was back in 1988 that Mike Scott of The Waterboys discovered The Saw Doctors in the back room of The Quays Pub in Galway and asked the young Tuam band to accompany The Waterboys around Ireland as the support act on the Fisherman’s Blues Tour in 1988.

"The Saw Doctors are looking forward to a great night’s music in the  Melody Tent on July 26"   said band guitarist Leo Moran.  "Salthill Park has a long tradition of staging musical events going back to the old Hanger Ballroom.  In the mid-eighties, I had a great day at a 2FM ‘Lark in the Park’ in Salthill  featuring The Waterboys and Too Much For The White Man".

The Saw Doctors, who won a Meteors Lifetime Achievement Award earlier this year,  have lined up a very busy Summer schedule with Festival appearances at Oxegen on July 11, The Celtic Hebridean Festival in Scotland on July 18, and the Rhythm Festival in Bedfordshire, UK on August 30.

On August 6, The Saw Doctors will set off on a three week USA tour that includes an outdoor concert in New York City, on Governor’s Island,  just off the Southern Tip of Manhattan, on August 23. The GICS is a groundbreaking event: one of the first-ever large-scale performance events to take place on historic Governors Island.

“…a fan base…that has been compared to the Grateful Deads in its dedication.., the Saw Doctors take pride in never playing the same set twice.”

The Washington Post

“The Saw Doctors capped a grand grand-opening weekend for the Hanover by performing a knockout, two-hour show that simply demanded people leave their seats, dance around and generally whoop it up as best they could.”

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette

“The Saw Doctors sing earnest, folk–rocking anthems of small–town life “for those who feel they’ve been mistreated/Discriminated, robbed or cheated.“ In Ireland their populism has brought them a huge national following; even in New York City, there should be plenty of voices with brogues singing along."

Jon Pareles The New York Times

“…working-class rockers who like to down a pint or two at the end of the day — just like their fans.”

PAT TRAVERS set to release “Stick with What You Know – Live in Europe”

Revered blues/rock guitar guru Pat Travers will release a powerful live performance on his new album “Stick with What You Know – Live in Europe” on Provogue Records, July 22nd 2008.

This hard rocking blues performance is in the true Pat Travers signature style, in your face full of big guitars. The album was recorded live at the Bosuil in Weert, The Netherlands. The Pat Travers band on this live performance consists of Pat Travers (guitars, slide guitar & vocals), Kirk McKim (guitar & backing vocals), Frank McDaniel (bass & backing vocals) and Eric Frates (drums & backing vocals). The album was mixed at the Red Room Studios by Sean Shannon assisted by Brad Johnson.

Pat Travers was born in Toronto, Canada and picked up the guitar at age 12. After Travers saw the legend Jimi Hendrix perform in Ottawa he was inspired go after the dream of becoming a star like so many of his early influences. Inspired by such guitarists as Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, Pat began playing in bands early in his teens. His first bands were "Red Hot" and "Merge" who played in Quebec area clubs. While the early years were hard, they would eventually pay off in the form of improved musicianship, style, and exposure.

Releasing his debut album "Pat Travers" in April 1976 with Mars Cowling on bass, and Roy Dyke on drums, Pat embarked on a tour of England. Adorned in a red and white jumpsuit displaying the maple leaf of his native Canada, Travers increased his following of fans. Trademarks of his early shows included giving away cardboard replicas of his black Fender Telecaster, playing barefoot, and inviting audience member to play "air guitar" on stage during the show. It was with this accessibility to the fans that Pat became the loved performer he is today.

David Martel to play Toronto

Montreal’s David Martel is making waves with his debut album I Hardly Knew Me (Kindling/Warner Music).  Catch him in Toronto opening for Ryan Montbleau Band at the Rivoli on July 11, 2008.

What the press is saying:

“There’s a reason people won’t shut up about David Martel, and it begins and ends with the immediate appeal of his debut disc….a minor tour de force, a smartly-written record that lets Martel explore all sides of his talent and vision.” – Dave Jaffer, Hour & Ottawa Xpress

“Think of a sewn-together version of Badly Drawn Boy and Pilot Speed and you’ll get a closer idea to what Martel sounds like. With his staggering vocal technique and easy to love pop gems, I Hardly Knew Me is one of this years best surprises.” – Jason Gladu, PopJournalism

“The melodic opening is strongly followed by 11 songs that demonstrate an incredible diversity of sound and influence. One minute he’s playing hard and fast, channeling NOFX and in the next his taking it all the way down, like the very romantic and haunting “Yours and Mine.” Hardly Know Me is pure acoustic bliss.” – Lucid Forge

“Patrick Watson by way of Rufus Wainwright” [“Yours and Mine”] sways like branches over a rainy boulevard, dripping piano solos.” – Scene and Heard with Will McGuirk

“I can honestly say that this guy blew my mind.” – Best of NXNE, TransCanadaRadio

Night Ranger’s new album "Hole In The Sun" in stores NOW!

VH1 Classic is proud to present the brand new album from Night Ranger entitled Hole In The Sun.  This is Night Ranger’s first studio album in a decade and commemorates their 25th anniversary as a band. There are a lot of reasons to celebrate the July 1 release of Night Ranger’s HOLE IN THE SUN, notably that it marks the band’s first studio album in a decade and commemorates the pioneering hard rock outfit’s 25th anniversary as a band.  The best reason, as has been the case throughout Night Ranger’s heralded career, is to celebrate the music itself.

“People will hear this record and recognize our dual blazing guitars and vocals, and big choruses and melodic verses, because that’s definitely how you can describe this album,” explains singer/bassist Jack Blades of the self-produced new release, the band’s eighth studio album, and first for VH1 Classic Records.  “It’s new Night Ranger, but in a lot of ways it’s classic Night Ranger.”

Guitars grind and swirl through the unrelenting opener “Tell Your Vision,” delivering a progressively-fueled crush that sets the tone for the eleven new tracks that follow, from Keagy’s Jim Morrison-like soft parade of vocals atop the blinding guitars of “Drama Queen” and the blitzing melodic charge of “You’re Gonna Hear From Me,” through the enduring depths of the piano-driven power ballad “There is Life,” and back again.  HOLE IN THE SUN rings with the vibrancy of vintage Night Ranger, yet echoes with a modern relevance that endures throughout the album.

“We wanted to sound new, but still keep our roots,” says Keagy of the new release.  “We grew up in the ‘70s, when pop music was really starting to thrive. Sometimes it drove you crazy because the songs were so poppy that you couldn’t get them out of your head, but they were still amazing songs.  We wanted to portray some of that on this album.”

While there is definitely a pop glisten to HOLE IN THE SUN, there’s also a heavy dynamic that plants the band firmly in the millennium.  “Brad brought in a lot of great ideas, some more modern-sounding things, but we were still able to keep that melodic sense in the songs.  We wanted a lot of songs like ‘Drama Queen,’ great, gritty songs that reestablish our roots in hard rock,” continues Keagy.

Night Ranger—original members bassist/vocalist Jack Blades, drummer/vocalist Kelly Keagy and guitarist Brad Gillis along with guitarist Joel Hoekstra and keyboardist Christian Cullen—will be on the road throughout 2008, including a stop in Pryor, OK on Friday, July 11 to perform as part of Rocklahoma.  They’ll also be doing various shows with Styx & Boston, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and Cinderella & Warrant.

The band has been touring all over the world the past few months, including a stop at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba to perform for the men and women stationed there.  For Night Ranger, it was a life changing experience.

As Keagy described, “There could not have been a more proud moment in my career then when we stepped foot on Guantanamo Bay to play for the troops there.  We all had mixed emotions about going and we didn’t really know what they do there.  Well we certainly found out, but the world should know that the people that are being held should be there because they are (I believe) the most dangerous people on this Earth.  We heard the facts in a briefing given by one of the highest ranking officers on the base.  It was amazing!  To the men and women that work so very hard to keep us safe from the kinds of things that happened on 911, I salute you.”

“Going to Guantanamo Bay Cuba to play for the troops is right up there as one of the wildest things Night Ranger has ever done,” Blades continues. “We’ve been all over the world, but never have we sung “You Can Still Rock In America” in a Communist country with armed Cubans watching us in guard towers just a few clicks away. Everyone was so appreciative of us being there, and seeing them rock out was the greatest. We were given a tour of the detention facilities, got the REAL story first-hand and went face-to-face with the detainees (nice stare-down moment that I shall not soon forget). Saw it all and it made us even more appreciative for what our soldiers, sailors, marines and airman are doing to keep us safe. They’re doing their part, so we’ll keep doing our part.  Rock in America baby!”

Says Gillis of the band’s current tour plans:  “We started with our classic backline with the American flag and the Night Ranger logo, and then we built it all up from there – bigger lights, bigger sound, bigger everything!  We’ve got the ramps, the vintage t-shirts, the old-school Night Ranger antics, and it’s going to be nothing but fun.”

Night Ranger has left an indelible mark on the music world thanks to a number of best-selling albums—starting with their 1982 DAWN PATROL debut–that sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.  The band’s popularity has been fueled by an impressive string of instantly recognizable hit singles and signature album tracks, including “Sister Christian,” “(You Can Still) Rock In America,” “When You Close Your Eyes,” “Sentimental Street,” “Goodbye” and “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me.”  Harnessing the frenetic drive of heavy metal to hook-laden rock songs, throwing in a stunning twin lead guitar team, and melodious, radio-friendly power ballads, Night Ranger inspired new descriptive phrases such as “melodic metal” and “metal power pop.”

“Music is constantly evolving and changing, and people need to keep evolving in life, spirit, soul and everything, or you might as well pack it in,” notes Blades. “That’s why I’m so proud of Night Ranger, and that’s why we will continue to evolve. With this new album, we’re just going to roll with it, have a blast doing it, and keep playing as long as it’s fun, and as long as people want to come out and hear us play. There are still a lot of people out there that want to get up and sing, ‘motorin’…’ and ‘Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,’ ‘You Can Still Rock in America,’ the list goes on and on…”

FIXER: NYC Rockers Announce July Tour Dates

High voltage NYC rockers Fixer announce newly confirmed summer shows as part of their summer-long Rock N Roll Revolution Tour.

Drawing from deep and varied influences, from the hard rock of Guns and Roses to the jam sensibilities of The Black Crowes and the post-punk heroism of Green Day, Fixer has crafted a rock sound with a fire and intensity very much their own. Fans describe their live show as ‘must-see dirty rock and roll’ that does not disappoint.

The band’s debut CD, Before The Sun, is packed with radio friendly, arena worthy tracks. Their organic rock-star stance serves to highlight their natural affinity for showmanship and surprise.

Before The Sun is available now through New York City based Riker Hill Records (IDN), an aggressive independent where passion and experience meet the future of rock and roll.

Break out track “Mixing In With My Blood” recently featured on The Hills, MTV’s most watched original series, known for its of-the-moment soundtrack.

“Brimming over the top with the right mixture of solid chops and poppy melodics while projecting the rock ‘n roll attitude left behind when CB’s closed its doors, Fixer pulls off the retro style without coming off as forced or contrite.” Crave Magazine

“Melodic grooves and street smart tunes, these boys are out to take over the world." New York Waste

“…they treat every fucking show – even a Thursday night in Brooklyn – like it was a CD release party, a photo shoot, and New Year’s Eve all rolled into one. "  Jersey Beat

Fixer can be found on tour throughout 2008 headlining their Rock n Roll Revolution Tour.

Fixer is: Evan R. Saffer: voice, Tommy Zamp: guitar, J Brown: bass and Rev Swank: drums.

Former Korn Guitarist To Release Debut Solo Album September 9

Former Korn guitarist BRIAN “HEAD” WELCH is back to making music with his debut solo album, SAVE ME FROM MYSELF, which will be released September 9 on Driven Music Group (distribution by Ryko/Warner Music Group), the label he co-founded with music execs Greg Shanaberger and Mark Nawara. The first single, “Flush,” will be serviced to radio the last week of June and will be available July 8 for purchase exclusively on iTunes.  Fans can hear a portion of the track on Head’s Myspace page.

SAVE ME FROM MYSELF was produced by Head, who recorded the music off and on for the past two years in Phoenix, Arizona.  It features renowned musicians Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, David Bowie) and Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails), and was mixed by Ralph Patlan and Bob Clearmountain.  The album is a testimony of Head’s life as he battled with drug addiction and leaving Korn, and finding spirituality.  It will leave no doubt in everyone’s mind that Head, as a founding member of Korn, has not lost his passion for the heavy sound that originally helped make his former band famous.  The album will remind listeners of Head’s dominant influence in the nu-metal sound that projected Korn to the top of the music charts for over a decade.  SAVE ME FROM MYSELF can only be described as a heavy metal epic, with a positive message.

Head’s production team is currently in pre-production on a video for “Flush” and is expected to hit the TV airwaves around the album’s release date.

“I’m really excited about getting my music out there to my fans,” Head declares.  “I literally poured everything I had into SAVE ME FROM MYSELF, and I know it’s gonna inspire a lot of people.  It’s been a long time since I’ve connected with people musically, and now that the wounds have healed from my past addictions, I’m ready to feel the magic again.”

He continues, “’Flush’ is a perfect way for me to come back into the music world because it’s basically about flushing all the crap in life down the toilet and starting out fresh—exactly what I’ve been doing for the last few years.  All the drama that I experienced with getting drunk and doing drugs, all the time seemed interesting and amusing to write about.  That lifestyle is total insanity and I’m just glad I’m not dead and I was able to write a song like ‘Flush.’”

In early 2005, Head rocked the music world by announcing his resignation from Korn.  At the time, Head was committed to moving away from the craziness of the rock & roll lifestyle to continue to care for his daughter, Jennea, as a single father.  Additionally, Head committed his life to his newfound faith with the goal of touching people’s lives and giving back to those most desperately in need.

Only months after his Korn exodus, Head traveled to India to open Head Home, an orphanage that provided housing, food, and education to over 200 orphans in the most unreachable parts of India.  Head also continued other philanthropic efforts in other areas throughout the U.S.  With his successful charitable efforts and side projects underway, Head began composing and recording SAVE ME FROM MYSELF.

At the time of his resignation from Korn, Head made it clear that although he had retired from Korn, he had not retired from the music and entertainment industry.  With his new calling, Head has committed to changing the youth of America through his music and other entertainment ventures, including his autobiography, Save Me From Myself, which was released in July 2007 by HarperCollins.  It quickly landed on the New York Times “Best Seller” list (non-fiction) and has sold over 70,000 copies.  Head’s team at HarperCollins was so impressed by the book’s success, they quickly exercised the publisher’s option for a second book, Washed By Blood, which is due out June 24.  It’s an edited paperback version of Save Me From Myself aimed at a younger audience and doesn’t contain the profanity and gory details of the original version.  A paperback of the original Save Me From Myself will also be released on June 24.

Here is the complete track listing for SAVE ME FROM MYSELF:
