Gary Moore

Close As You Get

2007, Eagle Records

Rating: 4/5

Blues guitarist Gary Moore is one of the most acclaimed musicians to ever come out of the < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />British Isles. With a career spanning several decades he shows no sign of slowing down and retiring. From the early days of Skid Row to Colosseum II to Thin Lizzy he has played the world over and has become highly regarded as both a vocalist and guitarist.

On CLOSE AS YOU GET, Gary gets personal with the lyrics and thus creating heartfelt emotion from the listener. The vast majority of the album is more mellow blues but on “Thirty Days” and “Eyesight To The Blind” he really kicks it up into high gear for some great electric rockin’ blues. He just lets loose with some of the best blues rock guitar you will hear this year. The raunch and soul of the old delta comes shining through.

Another remarkable album from Moore and the best blues guitar album of the year by far.
