Ringo Starr

Photograph: The Very Best Of

2007, Capitol Records

Rating: 5/5

A definitive collection of Ringo’s solo work. Everything you can ever want in a Best Of is here. Featuring all of his greater known tracks like “No-No Song”, “You’re Sixteen” to the Lennon penned “I’m The Greatest”. The latter is the closest The Beatles ever came to recording together again as the track includes < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Harrison on guitar and Lennon himself on piano and harmony vocals.

The sound here is crystal clear and the songs have never sounded so good before. All 20 songs sound as though they were remastered. The inclusion of the duet with Buck Owens is an added treat. Hearing this version of “Act Naturally” is fantastic to have. Also included on the bonus DVD is the humorous promo video for it.

This compilation is a perfect purchase for any and all Ringo fans. If you are unfamiliar with his solo work then this is a great starting point. If you are a fan and have all his albums then this set is great for the car or just when you want to hear some of his best known tunes.
