D.O.A RELEASES FIERCE SMASH THE STATE DVD
Renowned punk outfit, D.O.A is back with a band new DVD entitled Smash The State that will be released September 1, 2007 on Sudden Death Records. This long awaited compilation is loaded with a ton of raw footage including, an array of tour mayhem, twenty one classic songs, interviews, new casts, and an anarchist picnic. The dvd will also include short guest appearances by the likes of Keith Morris, Dirk Dirksen, JB Shayne, and Zippy Pinhead.
Since 1978 Joe Shithead Keithley and the rest of D.O.A has been spreading there outspoken music around the country, voicing there strong political opinions where ever they could. This didn’t always come easy for the Vancouver based anarchists, “Our very first show outside of Vancouver was in San Francisco. I took a train, Biscuits and Rampage took a bus and Brad Kent hitch hiked,” says Keithley. “When we arrived we had to scramble around to find enough gear to play. But it was great, so from that point on… we would hop in any kind of old wrecked vehicle we could find, and head down to the Bay area and help cause a punk rock riot.”
Besides many memorable live performances in San Francisco, Smash The State also includes an outdoor D.O.A set in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. This once in a lifetime performance is documented along with the before and aftermath of the anarchists celebration. Keithley explains, “it was an anarchist gathering in 1978 and was billed as “Anti-Canada Day”. We didn’t have a permit, so the cops tried to stop D.O.A., The Subhumans and Private School from playing that day…there’s even footage of (Randy) Rampage giving a cop a kiss. Hey, cool shit.”
Smash The State is a raw collection of the first three years of D.O.A’s lengthy career. Not only does is document the original moments of the band but it also shines light on the state of punk in the late seventies and early eighties. It’s a must see piece of the punk rock revolution.
All Time Low “So Wrong, It’s Right” Out Sept 25th!
After a year of winning over critics and fans alike with their breakout Put Up Or Shut Up EP, as well as their over-the-top, energy-filled live shows (including stellar performances on the Vans Warped Tour and Bamboozle), Baltimore four-piece All Time Low (singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth, guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson) will release their debut full-length, So Wrong It’s Right on September 25th via Hopeless Records. All Time Low’s Put Up Or Shut Up EP has sold over 50,000 copies to date, a huge portion of witch is in digital sales, and has been selling between 1,500-2,000 copies a week all summer. The buzz around this band keeps on rising and the dudes of All Time Low are poised to be 2008’s next big thing.
Members of the graduating class of 2006 (that’s high school), the Maryland boys have two EPs to their credit and tours with Plain White T’s, Sugarcult, Cute Is What We Aim For, The Early November, and Motion City Soundtrack under their skinny belts. Heralded by tastemakers such Alternative Press (who called ATL one of “100 Bands You Need To Know” in 2007), AbsolutePunk.net (who wrote, “Say hello to your new favorite pop-punk band”) and Metal Hammer, All Time Low has been taking the “pop punk” label back and wearing it as a proud badge of honor.
“A lot of bands that start out being called ‘pop-punk’ either shy away from the term or end up trying to force their sound in a different direction,” singer/guitarist Alex Gaskarth explains. “We’re proud of who we are, and we’re trying to take pop-punk back to where it used to be: a place that’s about having fun, being positive and building a community.”
Working once again with Producer Matt Squire (Panic! At the Disco, Cute Is What We Aim For) along with longtime collaborator Paul Leavitt (Over It), So Wrong, It’s Right is a mature step forward in the “pop punk” field. From the fist-pumping first single “Six Feet Under The Stars” to the SoCal-style punk volley of “This Is How We Do” to the acoustic lament “Remembering Sunday,” So Wrong, It’s Right manages to get it right every time, and singer Alex Gaskarth emerges as a very compelling storyteller/songwriter.
All Time Low are currently wrapping up their summer long stint on Warped Tour and will follow that up with a string of UK dates with Plain White T’s. Upon their return to the US, ATL will be supporting The Starting Line on a run of East Coast dates, after which they will head out as direct support on Boys Like Girls’ national fall tour.

QUEEN Rock Montreal
On 30 October 2007, Eagle Rock Entertainment will simultaneously release two incredible DVDs capturing the incomparable Queen in their pomp as the world’s biggest band at a sold out show in 1981 at Montreal’s 18,000-seater Forum. The single DVD is “Queen Rock Montreal” and there is a special edition double DVD “Queen Rock Montreal + Live Aid”. The live CD/LP from the concert is released on the same date on Universal with HD-DVD and Blu-ray versions to follow in November through Eagle.
Following their record-breaking South American tour, the Montreal shows on 24 and 25 November 1981 were to be the only concerts by Queen ever shot on film – indeed they were the first group to shoot an entire show in full cinema format 35mm. These releases offer the best ever sound and picture quality on a Queen concert release. Always a great live band, with two years non-stop touring behind them and Freddie Mercury in front of them, Queen excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The footage has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multi-track tapes.
“Hello Montreal…long time no see. You wanna get crazy?” asks Freddie as the band tear into their alternative ‘fast’ version of We Will Rock You, and from there on Queen show their hard rock roots, slowing down only for Love of My Life and the more mid-tempo Under Pressure, notably being performed live for the first time in this concert.
1) Intro 2) We Will Rock You (fast) 3) Let Me Entertain You 4) Play The Game 5) Somebody To Love 6) Killer Queen 7) I’m In Love With My Car 8) Get Down Make Love 9) Save Me 10) Now I’m Here 11) Dragon Attack 12) Now I’m Here (reprise) 13) Love Of My Life 14) Under Pressure 15) Keep Yourself Alive 16) Drum & Timpani Solo 17) Guitar Solo 18) Crazy Little Thing Called Love 19) Jailhouse Rock 20) Bohemian Rhapsody 21) Tie Your Mother Down 22) Another One Bites The Dust 23) Sheer Heart Attack 24) We Will Rock You 25) We Are The Champions 26) God Save The Queen
TRACKLISTING (Double Disc Live Aid footage)
Live Aid: 1) Bohemian Rhapsody 2) Radio Gaga 3) Hammer To Fall 4) Crazy Little Thing Called Love 5) We Will Rock You 6) We Are The Champions 7) Is This The World We Created
The real joy to be had in watching Freddie, Brian, Roger and John performing here is that, unlike any other Queen concert film available, this delivers raw Queen. This is before the Hot Space album, before keyboards would find a place in the band’s touring line up; this is simply four musicians in total cohesion.
Originally titled, “We Will Rock You”, this film was first launched at the Cannes Film Festival in May 1983 – as only Queen could. It was then released in North America (September 1984), becoming the first commercially available film of Queen in concert. For this special edition, the picture has been digitally restored from the original 35mm negative.
The double disc release offers the incredible bonus of a slew of Live Aid features and performances. Regularly polled as the greatest live performance of all time, Queen’s mighty Live Aid show at 6.44pm on July 13, 1985, is here in full. In addition to the set that reinforced Queen’s position as unrivalled rock entertainers, Freddie and Brian’s performance later in the evening of the poignant “Is This The World We Created” is included. Also featured are 11 minutes of never before seen Live Aid rehearsal footage, plus a rehearsal interview with the band. In addition, there’s the curiosity value of a 1982 news feature from US TV series PM Magazine. Brian May and Roger Taylor bring the story up to date with a brand new audio commentary on the Montreal concert.
Both these releases offer extraordinary footage of one if the greatest acts of all time, recorded at the height of the powers. Truly, Rock royalty.

Capitol/EMI To Release Joe Cocker “Classic Cocker”
CAPITOL/EMI TO RELEASE CLASSIC COCKER, A NEW COLLECTION OF
JOE COCKER’S SMASH HITS IN CD AND DELUXE CD/DVD PACKAGES
Features 19 Hits, Including the Grammy-Winning “Up Where We Belong,” “With A Little Help From My Friends,” and “You Are So Beautiful;” Deluxe Edition CD/DVD Adds 8 Music Videos and Live Performance Clips
Release Date: August 28, 2007
Capitol/EMI has compiled Joe Cocker’s best tracks for a new hits collection to be released on August 28, Classic Cocker. The 19-track CD features hit singles from albums Cocker released via Capitol and Epic/550 and from major film soundtracks, including the Grammy-winning “Up Where We Belong,” “You Are So Beautiful,” and “With A Little Help From My Friends.” A Deluxe Edition CD/DVD adds three filmed concert performances and five music videos. Both packages also include Cocker’s 1975 hit ballad “You Are So Beautiful” and a new liner notes essay by music writer Scott Schinder.
Joe Cocker scored one of the biggest hits of his career in 1982 with the Grammy-winning single “Up Where We Belong,” a lush romantic duet with Jennifer Warnes from the film An Officer and A Gentleman. That success signaled a high-profile career move for Cocker, and set the stage for his signing to Capitol/EMI. Cocker’s lengthy stint with Capitol/EMI saw him undergo a major musical and career resurgence that restored him to the commercial prominence he’d had during his original rise to stardom in the late 1960s.
Cocker’s first Capitol release was 1984’s transitional Civilized Man, whose bracing title track previewed the sleek commercial sound that he would soon perfect. The same year saw Cocker contribute to another movie soundtrack, recording “Edge Of A Dream” for the film Teachers. Cocker, released in 1986, featured the wailing “Shelter Me” and a sly reading of Randy Newman’s “You Can Leave Your Hat On;” the latter track prominently was featured in the film 9 1/2 Weeks.
Unchain My Heart, released in 1987, was widely acclaimed as Cocker’s strongest effort in years, with producers Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight modernizing the artist’s sound in a manner that complemented his gritty vocals. Cocker rose to the occasion, giving his all on such numbers as “A Woman Loves A Man” and the title song, a pleading Ray Charles classic that Cocker manages to make his own. Cocker, Hartman and Midnight continued their successful formula on 1989’s One Night Of Sin, coming up with a Top 10 hit in “When The Night Comes,” co-written by Canadian rocker Bryan Adams and pro tunesmiths Jim Vallance and Diane Warren.
Cocker has long been renowned for his electrifying live performances, and the 1990 release Joe Cocker Live found him revisiting some of his early classics in a concert setting. 1992 saw the release of Night Calls, which became a major hit in Europe, thanks to such memorable tracks as the John Miles-penned “Now That The Magic Has Gone” and Cocker’s forceful take on Gary Wright’s “Love Is Alive.” Also recorded during the Night Calls sessions, but not included on the album, was Cocker’s heartfelt interpretation of Jimmy Ruffin’s Motown classic “What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted.”
While he remained with EMI overseas, Cocker changed his U.S. affiliation to Epic/550 for his 1994 release Have A Little Faith, which got its title from Cocker’s sensitive version of John Hiatt’s “Have A Little Faith In Me.” 1996’s Organic was partially comprised of stripped-down acoustic tracks, and featured an elegantly spare reworking of Cocker’s Leon Russell-penned 1969 hit “Delta Lady,” as well as a personalized reading of the Animals’ “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.”
Nearly four decades after he thrilled the throngs at Woodstock, Joe Cocker remains one of rock’s preeminent survivors, continuing to record and tour prolifically. The music that he made during his Capitol years remains an essential chapter of his durable body of work.
