Stronger
2006, MTM Music/Zink Music
Rating: 4/5

Rain’s debut album was recorded and released in 2002, and STRONGER is the follow-up. If I understand correctly, the debut album was released by Rain as more of a project; today they have grown to be a “proper” band. < ?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Rain plays melodic rock/hard rock in the same veins of old Bon Jovi or TNT with a lot of attitude. Singer Michael Bormann has an amazing voice that he uses to the fullest. He can handle everything from rock songs to soothing ballads. It seems as though the band isn’t quite complete yet, because Bormann also handles the bass parts. I know that I have written numerous times that I’m not a fan of lyrics about love and love ballads, but on this album I actually don’t mind them at all.
STRONGER’s better moments are “Do You Like It”; the melodic hard rock “Insobriety” and “Flesh And Blood”; the more melodic and slower “Let Me Be Your Favorite” and “Deserve It”; as well as the moody “Deserve It”. I actually like the very beautiful ballads “I’d Die For You” and “Love Is By Your Side”.
STRONGER has every component needed to become a hit album, and I recommend it to anyone who loves music in any shape or form.
