Rating: 2.0/5

The Icon saga continues with the second album, II. This may be a long-awaited dream for fans of < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
Even if the music is boring, the quality of the material is a little better. The better songs on II are the very Asia-esque “The Die Is Cast” and “Finger on the Trigger” as well as the up-tempo ballads “Reflections (of My Life)” and the duet “Tears of Joy”. The first part of the album is more solid and new when compared to the second part, which feels tired and weak. One positive aspect of the album is the perfect production by both Wetton and Downes. They have put the focus on the vital things that bring the album forward, like keyboard, piano, guitar, and lead vocals.
I don’t think this album is going to take Wetton/Downes any further in their careers and I don’t think they’re going to gain any new fans with it either. It’s maybe fun for the
John Wetton – lead vocals, bass, guitar
Geoffrey Downes – keyboards, piano
John Mitchell – guitar
