Van Morrison
Live At Montreux 1980/1974

2006, Eagle Eye Media
Rating: 3.5/5

Van Morrison has performed numerous times at the Montreux Jazz Festival over the years. One this fine release from Eagle Rock Entertainment, 2 of shows are presented. The first disc is his 1980 performance which features such classic songs as “Moondance” and “Wild Night”. While not the most visual performer to ever grace a stage, he does deliver an extrodinary vocal performance. His voice is dead on and his band plays magnificently.

On the 2nd disc is the 1974 show, where you see a younger Van performing his songs exceptionally well. This performance looks dated, but musically it is timeless.

The only downfall with this set is there is no performance of 2 of his most popular tunes, “Gloria” and “Brown Eyed Girl”.
