Steve Earle
Live At Montreux 2005
2006, Eagle Vision
Rating: 4/5

Steve Earle’s perfomance here at the infamous Montreux Jazz Festival is charismatic yet brutally honest. Armed with just an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, Steve spans his career with songs such as “The Devil’s Right Hand” up to the recent “Jerusalem”. The songs have quite a different feel and are more personal sounding without a full band backing him up. Earle’s views and with are shown with his between song talk and song introductions.

The sound and vision of this show are really good, especially the DTS mix. It sounds like you are in the same room as him. The only downside to this release is that it is a bit to short and many great songs have been left off. It is great to see Steve back out there playing music.
