Gary Moore And Friends
One Night In Dublin: A Tribute To Phil Lynott
2006, Eagle Vision
Rating: 4/5

Blues guitar great Gary Moore pays homage to one of rocks greatest who’s life was cut short way to early. Filmed in Dublin,  the day after what would have been Phil’s 56th birthday. It was the previous day when Phil’s mother unveiled a statue of her son in front of fans and former bandmates. The following night they gathered on stage in a spectacular tribute to an amazing musician. The concert features Moore on guitar and vocals, and Thin Lizzy’s only drummer, Brian Downey. Former bandmates take to the stage throughout the whole performance. Moore even has a slight Lynott sound to his voice in places, which makes the show all the more interesting, as Phil’s voice was unique and helped make Thin Lizzy songs so easily recognisable.

Hearing songs like “Old Town” and “Whiskey In The Jar”  you cant help realizing how amazing this band was. An excellent tribute to a great band and an amazing musician.

Having Moore and Eric Ball trade off vocals and solos in “Whiskey In The Jar”  is the highlight of the disc. They do this song justice. A timeless classic that cannot be duplicated.
