Rating: 5/5

In a time when cover tunes and records seem to be the ‘In’ thing to do, Def Leppard appear to jump on the bandwagon. Cover versions are no new thing for the Leps as they have done them before as B-Sides to their many singles over the years. What sets this release apart from the rest is that the band themselves chose these songs and they are ones that they grew up with and loved themselves. The songs on YEAH! Are what made them get into music and what influenced them over the years and kept them going.

With their roots firmly planted in the Glam Rock past it comes as no surprise that their covers album would be filled with tributes to their favourite genre. You hear them pay respect to the likes of T.Rex, Sweet, Mott The Hoople and many more fantastic artists. They keep true to the sounds of the originals and make only the slightest of changes that only fans of the originals would notice. Even the guitar tone and vocal effects are what appeared on the originals making this more of a tribute than a covers disc.

This homage to their idols should turn a new generation onto some great music of yesteryear all the while maintaining Def Leppard’s longevity.
