Rusty Anderson
Undressing Underwater

2005, Surfdog Records
4/5

Rusty Anderson is a great new guitar player that is making a name for himself by playing with former Beatle Paul McCartney for the past 4 years.

Here on his debut cd Rusty delivers some great guitar driven Rock n Roll. With songs like ?Devil?s Spaceship? and ?Ol? Sparky?. It is clear to see why Macca chose him to be part of his band. It?s too bad Rusty don?t give him a much needed kick to get his ass in gear and start writing some great Rock songs again. If the music on this cd is any indication as to what he can do then those 2 could put out some mind blowing albums.

There are hints of the pshyedelic 60?s sound on the track ?Electric Trains?. The trippy background music and soft vocals just bring the listener back in time. The first ballad on the disc ?Damaged Goods? is not overly original but still half decent. Rusty should concentrate more on the Rock aspect of music as that is where he shines the most. The song ?Catbox Beach? gives the listeners a taste of surf guitar. This track caught me totally by surprise as it wasn?t what I was expecting to hear on the disc. It is however a nice refreshing pice even though it?s a little off course for the rest of the album. The disc ends off with a great upbeat rocker that is one of the standout tracks on the record.

Rusty Anderson could very well be one of the next guitar greats. Keep an eye out for him
