Eye Color: Hazel

Tattoos/Piercings: 4 tattoos / used to have lots (1/2″ lobes, labret, tongue and both nipples)

Non-MR Job: Accountant

Job(s) @ Metal Rules: CD reviewer, interviewer, concert reviewer, photographer

Length of Time with MR: Since July 2003

Brief description of how you came to MR: I first heard about MR on Blabbermouth.net who posted parts of the infamous interview Marko did with Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee back in December 2002.  I clicked on the link back to MR, read the interview and checked out the rest of the site.  I saw it was run by a fellow Canadian so I bookmarked it and soon became a regular visitor.  One day, I was bored at work and after reading the June 2003 CD reviews, I thought I’d e-mail EvilG to see if he wanted to hire another writer.  The rest is history!!

Best thing about working for MR: Discovering new bands, getting free concert passes and CDs, and getting to interview some of my favorite bands are all pretty sweet perks, but most of all, writing about a genre of music that I love is the real treat.

Worst thing about working for MR: Seeing the end of the month right around the corner and realizing I still have a stack of CDs to review!  Typing up my long-winded interviews and formatting photos are a close second.

How/when you first got into metal: Watching the Power Hour on MuchMusic and when I was 12 or 13, my friend’s older brother had Judas Priest’s SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE record (yes, record!).  I thought it was the shit and started building my own collection.

Favorite Metal Genre(s): Death, thrash, “classic” (70s & 80s), some metalcore

Least favorite Metal Genre(s): Grind and prog (with the exception of Dream Theater).  I’m not crazy about power metal with dragons/elves, etc. either.

First Metal CD ever bought: First metal recording was Quiet Riot’s METAL HEALTH.  First metal CD was KISS ALIVE! when CDs were first being rolled out in the late 80s.

First Metal concert: KISS/Anthrax in Calgary, Alberta (March 1988).

Favorite bands/artists:
METAL: KISS, Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Pantera, Motörhead, W.A.S.P., Tesla, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Testament, Type O Negative, Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying.

NON-METAL: Neil Young, Van Halen, Rush, Tool, Queen

Least favorite bands/artists: Too many to mention.

Most overrated bands/artists: I never understood what people got excited about with Savatage and Fates Warning.

Most underrated bands/artists: Too many to mention.

Favorite album cover: KISS ~ ROCK AND ROLL OVER
