The red/cherry is the devil's guitar, and very Angus and Tony Iommi
Im leaning for an ebony, more Glen Tipton |

Frank Marino and Frank Zappa also used SG's (solid guitar) as their main axe. Go for it! _________________ "Not wanting to let his fellow members of the gay alliance down, he decided to blow off the entire meeting." |

yeah ,I was surprised at how light they are.
I really like the trapezoid inlays of the standard over the dots on the special. |

I bought 2 specials (with the dots) for around $600US each. I could afford 1 standard or 2 specials...I sold the other the other one for $1300 here in Aust. ($1150US)
The trapezoids look better though, you're right. _________________ "What the FUCK is this? This is awesome...what an insane voice...this cannot be coming from a human" - SilverMountain about first hearing Priest in 1984 |

I bought a SG 61 Reissue and the damn thing will not stay in tune for 30 seconds! The only thing that helps at all is stupidly heavy gauge strings 13-56 which are so hard to play on.
Its so frustrating as i love the tone and playability. And its the perfect doom guitar. _________________ Rituals of the Oak - Doom Metal

Yeah i took it to a few places and whatever they did made no difference.
I think it just needs a real pro set up and there seems to an abundance of piss poor guitar repairers in Sydney. I've learnt a few things myself in frustration and do a better job setting up my own guitars than these "qualified" clowns. _________________ Rituals of the Oak - Doom Metal

Oh i know who Chris Brooks is but had no idea he did repairs. I've actually been in that store a few times. Will definitely be taking my guitar there.

just get the LP.
The SG is imbalanced, and a bit of a weird instrument. Also, beside a LP it sounds weak. If your playing metal you should be aiming at an LP studio or Standard simply because the amount of wood is going to give you better resonance and sustain. An SG is left with a wobbly mid-range crunch more suitable for classic rock and trad. rock runes. Pick up a particularly heavy LP studio, or a proper LP standard if you want to shell out the cash, and play them both vs. your SG to hear the difference. Play them thru a good clean-tone amp like a fender tonemaster or bassman and trust me you will hear a definite difference. _________________ Hate...
