ShadowKeep Feature Compiled by Rick in August 2001
ShadowKeep are one of those bands that grabs your attention
right from the get go. With great songs and arrangements and one of the great
new vocalists on the scene in Rogue M. ShadowKeep are poised to do big things
in the metal world. With the band set to release a new CD in the near future I
felt it was time to feature the band on Metal-Rules.com so that those who
haven't heard of them yet can discover some great new metal.

Background
ShadowKeep was formed only a short 2 and a half years ago
in Surry, England by Belgian born vocalist Rogue M. and guitar and
songwriting duo Chris Allen and Nicki Robson. Rogue M. had exactly the
voice that the team was looking for to compliment their musical
compositions A short 2 weeks later the new trio were in the studio
recording what would become their first 2 songs "Inner Sanctum"
and "Dark Tower". The trio then arranged for ShadowKeep to enter
Karl Groom and Clive Nolan's Thin Ice Studio in October the same year to
record the what would become their first CD Six Track Mini Album.
This release was meant to see if there was an interest in the music that
ShadowKeep was creating. Not only was there interest in their songs,
the band couldn't keep up with the demand for their music. ShadowKeep soon
signed to LIMB Music and in September of 2000 released their first full
length CD Corruption Within
Musical Style
The musical style of ShadowKeep is a combination of
powermetal, progressive metal and traditional metal. The bands
musical influences include Fates Warning and Queensryche while
amazing vocalist Rogue M. is influenced by the work of Tom Mallicoat of
Lethal. Put these influences together and what is created is one of the
best bands to burst onto the scene in the past few years.
News Current To August 2001
Shadowkeep are busy working on their new CD tentatively
entitled A Chaos Theory. The band will return to Thin Ice
Studios with again Karl Groom producing. Rogue M. gave myself and Metal-Rules.com
and exclusive preview of what the new CD is all about.
"ACT is a conceptual album. Most of the songs are discussing
the expansion and retrodegradation of the universe. The end is nothing
such as the beginning was...this is a pessimistic view of our purpose on earth but a more positive message will be spread in the concept as well as
realizing the fate of entropy, men will turn to urge to live the present times rather than exploring the past or projecting the future. Carpe Diem if you wish."
The release date will be sometime in
the first quarter of 2002.
The face of the band has changed drastically in
the last little while with the addition of a new rhythm section. Joining
ShadowKeep on bass is Steve Scott formerly of the band Dragonheart. Steve is
a New Zealand native now living in England. He was recommended to the band
by their producer Karl Groom who had worked with him in the studio with
Dragonheart and felt that he would be great addition to the band.
Joining Steve as the backbone of the ShadowKeep sound is former Angel Witch
drummer Scott Higham. Higham has brought his live experience and his
songwriting abilities to the ShadowKeep table to help improve the band and
help them create an album that will outdo their last CD Corruption
