ALIVE is the second release for south Florida’s NZM. NZM is the band formed by Nick Z. Marino. For those who may not recognize the name, Marino is the lead singer / keyboardist for Yngwie Malmsteen. With that, there should be an understanding that what you are about to hear should be nothing less than great. Well, for what it is, I must say that it is right up there.

Marino is no stranger to the rock and power metal scene. Being fueled by the likes of Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Scorpions and Queen to name a few, has seen Marino dig his way through the trenches for many years now. The latest here being released in late 2016 is a lot like the debut and follows up his solo debut well. ALIVE is a highly energized hard rock and power metal opus sure to fancy the likes of many. One can hear the minor influences of the music of Yngwie’s style of metal here. But only a little I must add.

ALIVE consists of 11 tracks of keyboard infused metal supported by a group of highly competent and talented musicians. The fact that Marino is with Yngwie has got to tell you something as we all know how that man can be when it comes to the talent he surrounds himself with.

Each track stands on its own throughout the disc. ALIVE and the band NZM’s style are right up there with the likes of Symphony X, Racer X, Rainbow and the afore mentioned Yngwie Malmsteen (one too many plugs!) So, a very well done album with plenty of its own originality filled with dozens of catchy hooks and melodies that make it a tad tough to stop listening to.
