Desertscene presents Desertfest London 2018, now in its 7th year bringing lovers of Doom, Sludge, Psych and Stoner another awesome lineup with headline acts from Graveyard, High on Fire and closing the weekend the legendary Monster Magnet, as the Roundhouse is used once again to give us a right good send off on the Sunday evening. Koko comes back into use on the Friday night with a dual headline performance surprisingly by Grindcore pioneers, Napalm Death.
Also on the Friday we see the return of Eyehategod, who will get a warm welcome back after Mike IX Williams, their lead singer, almost died from liver failure. Many fans donated to the singer’s justgiving to help pay for a new liver and this appearance will give him a chance to thank his European fans for helping them save his life. Hopefully that won’t clash with the triumphant return of stoner legends The Obsessed which sees singer Scott “Wino” Winestein return after a European travelling ban was imposed on him in November 2014 for drug possession.
Saturday also see’s a must see acoustic set from Wino, giving us a rare treat by playing his solo stuff. If I was to pick out a stand out/not to be missed set it would be this performance because who knows when he will be let back into the country!
Head over to The Devonshire Arms to catch Poland’s Dopelord on the Friday night and Monolithithan and Darkher on Saturday night in between Weedeater’s first of two sets this weekend.
Sunday seems like the best lineup so far with bands like Monolord, Bison, King Buffalo, Elder, Pist, Primitive Man, Suma and CHRCH as well as Weedeater’s second set before the mighty Hawkwind take to the stage and Montser Magnet round off the night in the roundhouse. This year is not to be missed!
