The Outer Limits – Apocalypto

Outer Limits - ApocalyptoReviewed: February, 2018
Released: 2017, Stormspell Records
Rating: 3.5/5

It was another banner year for the American record label, Stormspell Records so I’ve decided to do a round-up of what this respected True Metal label was up to in 2017. I’m reviewing the following ten bands in this feature.

Ancient Empire
Blazon Stone
Fire Strike
Outer Limits
Raging Fate
Yuri Fulone

Feel free to check out all the reviews. If you are like me, if you like one of these albums on this consistent and focused theme label you’ll probably like ‘em all!

Stormspell does not traditionally focus on Thrash Metal but they do dabble once in a while and the band The Outer Limits is one such example.

This Bulgarian band has apparently been around in one form or another originally known as (roughly translated) as ‘Brewer’ back in the late 80’s. Now after evolving into The Outer Limits they have signed with Stormspell and released their second album, APOCALYPTO.

These guys play vintage, classic 80’s thrash.   No compromises, no trends. I hear a solid blend of maybe Tankard and Nuclear Assault. Lyrically, these guys don’t bring anything new to the table, they actually have a song called ‘Thrashin’ Maniacs’ but what is not to love?   They are fast, heavy, well-produced and fun. On any given day this could be your favorite new thrash band.

I’m pretty impressed with the purity of their sound and energy and enthusiasm. There are ton of bands out there like this but I can hear why Stormspell decided to support this band.
