After nearly 30 years of punishing brutality, the death metal masters Cannibal Corpse have bestowed upon us RED BEFORE BLACK. Being their 14th studio effort and after not really listening to their last couple offerings, I was not sure what to expect.
Cannibal Corpse is what spewed from the speakers. It is almost like I did not miss a beat over the past couple albums. Cannibal Corpse is, if anything, one of the most consistent death metal bands out there. Their raw and murderous sound sets them apart from the rest, but for someone like me, it is a whole lot of the same ole stuff.
The album opens with a vicious attitude that continues throughout the album. Blast beats a plenty with their signature insane guitar riffs that even without the lyrics scream pure bloody murder! And lyrically, that is what you get.
This album is pure death metal hate from the top purveyors of the genre. RED BEFORE BLACK for Cannibal Corpse fans and death metal fans alike is a great addition to the 2017 release list. It rolls as it should with no real surprises.
