Gramercy Theatre,NYC, May 10th, 2017
Review and photos by Brian Johnson
I’ve been a big fan of Yngwie Malmsteen since the 1980’s, But I have never gotten a chance to see him live. So I looked forward to going to the Gramercy Theatre on May 10th for the world on fire tour. When I saw him open the evening with “Rising Force” in a sold out venue it was even more then I expected. Not only is his music extremely difficult to play, but the energy given in the performance was an unexpected surprise.
As the evening continued with an awe inspiring rendition of the star spangled banner, my favorite performance of the night, the energy never faded. Yngwie continued doing kicks and guitar spins all while preforming musical perfection in front of an impressive wall of Marshall amp stacks.
I wold recommend to anyone to go see him live and not to wait as long as I regretfully did. Seeing him play in person is like watching a master, well worth it.
