Preamble/Intro

A collection of all the Fates Warning videos to that point.

In the spring of 2016 it was announced that Fates Warning was releasing their 12th album. In anticipation of this exciting event I went back and had a look at some old Fates Warning videos on DVD. THE VIEW FROM HERE is the bands third DVD and the first video compilation of their career.

Released in 2003 this single disc package is pretty plain. There is a couple of single adverts with some photos and advertising, but no booklet to speak of. This DVD is just a collection of the bands videos, and not much more. The first six videos were in decent rotation on Much Music in Canada so I’ve seen them all before, but it was nice to see them again after many years. As video budgets decreased and interest faded the bands production / theme videos turned more into just live videos. There is some grainy studio footage with a couple of ‘making of’ segments and an eight minute interview but overall this DVD is bare bones. The is one special bonus feature, but again it is more bootleg footage from a show from Greece.

THE VIEW FROM HERE is pretty average DVD in terms of content, presentation and features. The videos are cool and nice to have in one place so for a fan you may want to add this to your collection.
