In 2014, the Canadian speed metal pioneering band Exciter made the announcement that the original trio of John Ricci, Dan Beehler and Allan Johnson got back together.
The classic line-up has since played Keep it True festival in Germany, Defenders of the Old in the US, a full-on tour in South America and finally, they will be playing their first Canadian show in 31 years on Friday March 18th at Montreal’s legendary Foufounes Électriques club! Their performance will consist of all the classics from “Heavy Metal Maniac”, “Violence and Force” and “Long Live the Loud” that established Exciter as one of the pioneers of speed and thrash. New material and a new release will eventually follow.
The Foufounes Électriques march 18th concert will feature only Canadian metal bands. Besides EXCITER, the show includes heavy/speed metal killers PILEDRIVER and pre-Cauldron heavy/doom band GOAT HORN.
PILEDRIVER, well-known for their debut 1985 classic “Metal Inquisition”, was formed in 1984 as a studio project. Their leather-clad vocalist is well known for his over-the-top image and fist-pumping flamboyant song lyrics. They have been playing live since 2005, having done festivals in Europe and North America.
GOAT HORN was formed in 1999, by three metal maniacs from Pembroke, Ontario. Started up as a Cathedral/Judas Priest jam band, they have released three albums (mostly privately pressed) and have toured extensively between 2002-2006. The band disbanded in 2006 and Jason Decay then formed CAULDRON. Goat Horn reunites from time to time for special events (like this one).
