80’s Thrash is back people! So many newer bands like Municipal Waste, Havok, and Toxic Holocaust are infusing new life into the metal underground via old school thrash. Now from the frozen tundra of Buffalo comes Armageddon! Formed in 2012 by the Potenza brothers Anthony (16, guitars and vocals) and Tim (12, drums), Armageddon recently signed with Vile Records and recorded their first EP, AGE OF DARKNESS. Don’t let their ages fool you – these boys can fucking shred!

Armageddon’s style is reminiscent of early KILL ‘EM ALL Metallica / KILLING IS MY BUSINESS Megadeth with a hint of Iron Maiden guitars, so in other words, this is cool shit! Opening track “Aftermath” sets the tone for the EP by featuring various tempo changes, aggressive thrash riffing, and a melodic soloing interlude. Good headbanging music! Anthony’s vocals are gruff but clearly thrash, not death. All of the tracks on the EP are solid, no filler. Choruses for “Age of Darkness” and “Thrash Attach” are catchy and will have you singing along! “Subsequence” features a cool bass intro before launching into full ass kicking mode. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, but if pressed I’m going with “Thrash Attack”. “When it was all over I was wishing there was more, sign of a good EP!

Fans of old school thrash need to check out Armageddon, it’ll fire you up and make you want to start a circle pit at home! Highly recommended.
