Count’s 77 – Live Vol.1

Count’s 77
Live Vol.1
2013, Independent
Rating: 4/5

Count’s 77 MAY be unfamiliar to you BUT if I mention Danny “Count” Koker you will know who I am talking about. For those who don’t, Danny owns Count’s Kustoms in Vegas that has made choppers for the Crue and recently Jason Hook of Five Finger Death Punch. He is the star of the show Counting Cars as well which is about his shop. Apart from that Danny is the singer in his own band Count’s 77.

This Live CD was recorded in April 2012 in Danny’s club; Vamp’d. The disc is filled with your Classic Rock tracks like Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Love”, Sabbath’s “War Pig’s” along with an original track called “Lonely, Broke & Wasted” which his bandmate John Zito handles lead vocal who is introduced as “The namesake of the band” which made me search this out to find they were previously known as Zito 77. I guess with Danny’s fame a name change was in order? Either way, these guys are good at what they do and are very guitar oriented. Covering Hendrix as well as Pat Travers’ “Snortin’ Whiskey” is no small feat when done right. The original track is a decent song with a good groove. Vocally Koker is a bit rough but that’s the thing, do you want a perfect vocal copy in a cover bar band? Of course not. This is good bar band music to drink beers to.

I would go see these guys play anytime and would buy an album if they released one of original tunes. A great, fun Rock n Roll band is what Count’s 77 is. Nothing more, nothing less.
