ABOUT THE BAND
Aeon of Horus is:
Andy Annand – Vocals & KeyboardBen Hocking – DrumsScott Carter – BassPeter Meere – Guitar
The four piece combines technicality and rhythmic complexity with a sweeping dynamic, often venturing into symphonic passages and subtle melodic interludes.
Aeon of Horus formed in 2006 and began playing live in early 2007. By late 2007 they had recorded and released a self-titled EP. The band continued to write and in early 2008 they began recording their first full length album, ‘The Embodiment of Darkness and Light’.
While their EP hinted at the intensity and superior musicianship of Aeon of Horus, this full length release showcases the culmination of their efforts in an epic sensory experience. Crushing riffs and technicality combine with epic and dark movements to form a unique brand of progressive metal.
The latter part of 2010 is proving to be a busy time for the band. Peter Meere, formally of melodic death metal outfit Templestowe has taken over guitar duties for the band with Scott Carter, mixer/engineer of the band’s debut album taking over bass duties from the recently departed Chris Pratt.
Drummer Ben Hocking states: “We are very happy to have Pete and Scott in the band. Both are amazing musicians and breathe new life to our sound and vision. Having been friends of Aeon of Horus since its infancy, Pete and Scott were a logical choice and have taken to the band with ease”.
Having been hard at work on new material for a forthcoming release for several months, Aeon of Horus will be hitting the road in December and January around Australia to showcase both new material written with the new members and songs of the band’s acclaimed 2009 release The Embodiment of Darkness and Light.
