“A Top Down Anthem” – Billboard on “All Night Long”

(New York, NY) – Hard rockers Buckcherry’s brand new album ALL NIGHT LONG is now set for an August 3rd release in North America via original independent label, Eleven Seven Music.  The band is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the record with producers Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Fuel) and guitarist/songwriter Keith Nelson. The first single from the new album, also entitled “All Night Long,” will make its video premiere on Yahoo! on May 17th, the same day the top down summer anthem will be delivered to radio at the active rock, mainstream rock and alternative formats.

As a thank you to their fans, Buckcherry recently offered the new single “All Night Long” as a free download on their website and via Twitter and Facebook. The response was so overwhelming that Twitter had to temporarily shut down the free download because the requests overloaded the system. Tens of thousands of hits were felt on the new single in the first two days it was made available.  Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd commented, “Our fans are rad and we send them props for helping to overload Twitter!  We are really proud of the new songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear the album.”  Radio has also embraced “All Night Long” from the free download, with early airplay in major markets such as Chicago, Detroit, Seattle and Phoenix.

In other Buckcherry news, frontman Josh Todd guest-starred on the FOX’s hit show “Bones” last month.  Buckcherry will soon hit the road in North America to play select dates.  Please see below for the itinerary.

In their more than decade-long career, multi-platinum artists Buckcherry have established themselves as a definitive hard rock band with a massive presence at radio.  Hits such as “Lit Up,” “Crazy Bitch,” and “Sorry” have propelled the band’s sales to more than 3 million albums worldwide and have garnered Buckcherry two Grammy Nominations.  Their most recent album, 2008’s BLACK BUTTERFLY, earned the band their first-ever Top Ten Billboard album debut, with the album coming in at #8.  BLACK BUTTERFLY was deemed the “Album Of The Year” by Entertainment Weekly and “Best Rock Album” by iTunes.

Not even a stolen van can keep SAINT ALVIA down.

After having their touring van stolen last month in Hamilton, the Burlington punk rockers are back on the road for a handful of North American tour dates this month with the likes of Flogging Molly, The Riverboat Gamblers, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.  The band kicks off a pair of shows with Flogging Molly and The Riverboat Gamblers tonight in Denver, CO.  Later this week, they join Me First and the Gimme Gimmes at the annual Punk Rock Bowling tournament in Las Vegas, NV for a show on Sunday, May 9.

Rounding out the month is a handful of Southern Ontario headlining shows (see below for a complete listing).   Fans will not want to miss these shows as the band will be giving an exclusive first sneak peek at something they’ve been working on for the last few months…official announcement coming soon, but these shows are definitely not to be missed!

SAINT ALVIA would also like to thank family, friends and fans who came out to the "Our Van Got Stolen And We Are Totally Fucked" benefit show on April 23 in Burlington, which raised enough funds for the band to rent a van for their current tour.

SAINT ALVIA rapidly gained momentum after forming in 2006, bridging their punk rock roots with an impressive array of rock n’ roll, blues, soul, reggae, new wave and hip hop influences.  No strangers to the business, the band includes founding members of seminal hardcore band Grade (Victory Records), Boys Night Out (Ferret), Jersey (EMI/VIRGIN), and The Video Dead (Stereo Dynamite).  Fused with the spirit of the Clash, the eclectic nature of The Band, and the boundary-defying attitude of Big Audio Dynamite, SAINT ALVIA has managed to create a fresh take on an old sound, and remain determined to push the limits at every turn.

SAINT ALVIA will head into the studio later this year to record the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed sophomore album "Between The Lines"(Stomp/Warner, September 2008).

Now, the forefathers of heavy metal will join the much-lauded lineage of Eagle Rock’s Classic Albums DVD series. The legendary band ignited a creative, rebellious revolution with songs like "Light My Fire," "Touch Me," "When You’re Strange," and many others. This documentary, featuring only footage from 1966 to 1971, honors that legacy, following the band’s journey from the halls of UCLA’s film school to its establishment as an international artistic phenomenon. Narrated by Johnny Depp, and featuring previously unseen footage, When You’re Strange uncovers The Doors’ impact in both musical and cultural history.

After the release of their 12th studio album Polaris last year, Stratovarius hit the road to support the newest chapter in the 25-year history of the Finnish metallers’ storied career (including a 9-show mini-tour across Canada). The result is Polaris Live, a 14-track souvenir from their 2009 world tour, including live versions of 5 songs from Polaris and other favorites including "Father Time", "A Million Light Years Away" & more! As a bonus, the original Polaris studio album is included in this package on a second disc.

Ringo Starr / The Anthology…So Far / 3-CD

A constantly evolving entity with a revolving cast of music’s best, Ringo’s All-Starr Band has gathered many rock legends as its alumni, including Nils Lofgren, Peter Frampton, Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Simon Kirke, Levon Helm, Todd Rundgren, Billy Preston, Gary Brooker, and a cavalcade of other noted artists. The limited edition CD/DVD includes 12 tracks along with an hour long behind the scenes DVD highlighting various aspects of the recording process.

With Lowery as a major contributor, Sevendust released four albums that stretched the limits of hard rock and metal, combining elements of thrash, classic metal, southern rock and soul into songs that were both sinfully tuneful and ruthlessly aggressive. Then in 2003, after the release of Seasons, the guitarist quit to focus on his other band. Sevendust continued for three more albums, and enjoyed considerable success, but something was clearly missing. So, when the band reunited with Lowery in early 2008, it was like the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle was finally reinserted and the picture was again complete.

The results are telling. Along with Cold Day Memory being Sevendust’s highest charting debut ever, the album’s first single, "Unraveling", set a debut milestone as well. It entered the BDS Active Rock radio chart higher than any other Sevendust track. It surpassed 2003’s "Enemy," which wound up peaking at #6 and is currently their highest charting song to date. At radio, "Unraveling" is the most well received Sevendust song ever and has the chance to be an absolute crossover monster.

Sevendust will be on the road with Nonpoint, Saving Abel and Day of Fire in April and May and are confirmed for the entire Carnival Of Madness Tour with Shinedown, Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd and 10 Years this summer. A full list of dates is below.

"This is the album Sevendust fans have been waiting for since Seasons. It takes the heavy elements of Animosity and the melodic elements of Seasons, puts them together, and then kicks them both up about 20 notches. It is really that amazing." (Cottonheaded Ninnymuggins on iTunes)

In Toronto, Ontario to embark on GRADY’s current Canadian tour, Gordie Johnson stopped by The Trews music video set . While showing photos of his kids on his camera the guys noticed a Grady shot and asked what it was. “I said ‘oh that’s our If I Was King video,’” explains Johnson, “they started looking at it and asking – “how can you have your video footage on your camera?’ I shot and directed it on my Sony Cyber-Shot digital camera.”

If I Was King is the current GRADY single just released to radio. When there were ongoing logistical delays that were making a video shoot impossible Johnson noticed his digital camera shot HD, took control and made it happen.  “It occurred to me that video is not much different than audio and I work in the audio realm in the studio all the time,” he says.  “So to make something come to life visually I just had to apply the same creative process that I would in producing a record.  I plotted it all out shot for shot and the end result of the video looks strikingly like the storyboard I did with a pencil and a sketch book.”

Shot entirely outdoors, video pre-production involved a walk around Johnson’s property outside of Austin, Texas with his kids as stand-ins, making notes on when the natural light looked best.  Johnson states, “We had an hour of good light, I shot 2 days in a row, followed my script and we were done.” For the nighttime shots, he got creative by circling cars around to use headlights.

The Trews Tim Martin video director was impressed enough to offer up his editing suite.  Johnson changed his flight to Ottawa where the GRADY tour was starting, stayed up all night, catalogued his shots, and spent the day at Frameblender with Martin and his assistant. “They did the heavy lifting, worked on it another day, refined it for me some and came up with a great result.”

“If I Was King” is dedicated to Gordie Johnson’s life long friend Eric Tunney. R.I.P. Eric Tunney 1964 – 2010

Industry Quotes on “If I Was King”

“‘If I Was King,’ the thunderous rhythm of Big Ben Richardson on bass and Nina Singh on drums and powerful vocals by all three create a huge wall of sound overall.  Grady really tears it up!!!  From the new album Good As Dead , ‘If I Was King’ is backed up with a great video that tells us they have come up with the track that radio will embrace and surely take this great band through the roof.” -Bill Ham, Manager/Record Producer (ZZ Top)

“If it’s Grady, you know it will be heavy and badass.  Add Michael Ramos’ accordion (yes, accordion!) and castanets into the mix on ‘If I Was King,’ and it works, adding a "From Dusk Till Dawn" feel to the mystery and an irresistible flavor to a song that sounds utterly kickass on the radio!” – Loris Lowe, KLBJ-FM / Austin, TX “Local Licks Live”

D.O.A. , Canada’s Punk Legends, To Release 13th Studio Album

D.O.A., Canada’s punk legends, are set to release their 13th studio album "Talk – Action = 0"

On June 8th via Sudden Death Records. On this album, the band goes back to its early roots and takes a few notes from their first two classic albums: "Something Better Change" and "Hardcore 81". "Talk – Action = 0" was produced by chief punk Joe Shithead Keithley and Chon (Live Free or Die).

Keithley, Canada’s godfather of punk, has teamed with his cronies Floor Tom Jones (drums) and Dirty Dan Sedan (bass) to come up with one of D.O.A.’s hardest hitting albums to date. On this lucky 13th full length, there’s plenty of what one might expect from the boys: power, politics and humor.

The album opens with the blistering track That’s Why I Am An Atheist, followed up by the Eddie Cochran inspired Rebel Kind. If you have ever doubted that D.O.A. has always been a barometer of the times we live in, check out the angry anthem Don’t Bank On A Bank and the all too timely I Live In A Car…

Music Video:

Further to that point, the track The R.C.M.P. explores the misdeeds of Canada’s national police force. To mix things up, the band includes an ode to Star Trek with the song Captain Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Bones, and there are sizzling covers of The Times They Are A-Changin’ and That’s Amore.

D.O.A. burst onto Vancouver’s music scene in 1978 and have been rocking the world, making people think, and sticking it to the man ever since. After they released their first snarling piece of vinyl, the infamous Disco Sucks 7" EP, it became an underground hit and opened the doors to international prominence, riots, rip off record companies and legions of fans.

In 1981, D.O.A. made the term "hardcore" their own and pushed it into the common vernacular. With the release of the legendary album Hardcore 81 and subsequent tours by that name, D.O.A. became known as the fathers of hardcore. The band has always worn its politics on its sleeves and done a lot of rabble rousing along the way. D.O.A. has also worked hard at helping out those that really need help over the years. They’ve played benefits for: Rape Relief, anti-racism, anti-globalization, OXFAM, first nation’s rights, anti-censorship, and environmental causes, amongst many others.

D.O.A. has always been known as one punk’s best live bands and their current line up reinforces that. On the 2010 World Tour, Joe and the Men of Action will play three of their greatest albums Hardcore 81, Bloodied But Unbowed and War On 45 pretty well verbatim. They will also throw in a sprinkling of punk blasts from their last two albums.

D.O.A.’s people power philosophy and sound has been forged by Keithley. His powerful songwriting, singing, guitar playing and stage charisma have always anchored D.O.A. Joe has run for the Green Party three times in Vancouver and his book about D.O.A. entitled I Shithead – A Life In Punk, went on to become a Canadian best seller.
