Crushing Debut Album From Oklahoma Rockers CROOKED X In Stores Now!
The young Coweta, Oklahoma quartet known as Crooked X is on hyper-speed, musically and career-wise. Even before scoring their 2008 deal with EMI, the intense but melodic hard rockers were opening for KISS in Europe, touring with Ted Nugent and chronicling their lives on the MTV special "Rock N Roll Dream" (airing on MuchMusic Wednesday April 22 @ 8pm ET/PT, with a same-day encore presentation at 11pm ET).
Crooked X’s self-titled debut for MPM/EMI/Capitol sees its widespread Canadian release today. The album encapsulates the bands’ youthful aggro-energy, hopes, and hormones (the members are, after all, just 15 years old) into 10 tracks rife with searing guitars, passionate vocals and intense, radio-ready heavy rock.
Featuring such gems as the dark, riff-tastic ‘Nightmare’ (featured in Rock Band™ ), the edgy and classic heavy modern rock tunes ‘Time Is Now’, ‘Gone’, and ‘Adrenaline’, and the instantly memorable first single ‘Rock N Roll Dream’, Crooked X’s debut effort combines an organic, ’70s-inspired influence with the band’s new millennium sound. Members Forrest French (vocals, guitar), Jesse Cooper (lead guitar, vocals), Josh McDowell (bass) and Boomer Simpson (drums) also share songwriting and lyrical duties for a true full-band collaboration.
Crooked X is managed by music and media producer/strategist Spencer Proffer and esteemed music manager Doc McGhee.
Notes Spencer Proffer (Quiet Riot, Tina Turner, WASP), who oversaw the album on all facets and produced Crooked X along with Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Skid Row, Poison): "They’re pure to rock & roll, a magnet back into classic rock that’s direly missing these days. They write melodic, timeless, powerful rock with elements of Zeppelin, Metallica and AC/DC. But it’s fresh and from their perspective; for today’s generation. That rang my bell loudly, being a fan who is steeped in rock & roll and has made my life’s work in it. I knew I had to get involved."
Crooked X is also slated for a walk-on appearance on MuchMusic’s MuchOnDemand program on Friday May 1. The band will present their brand new video "Gone" for its exclusive Canadian premiere on MOD (airs 5pm EST; check local listings for more info).
Crooked X’s goal is simply to rock like heroes Shinedown, Black Label Society and Pantera, explaining: "We want people to hear our music, decide what they think, and THEN find out, ‘wow, they’re 15.’ Instead of , ‘they’re 15, wow, they’re good for their age.’ We’re not a gimmick, we’re a band." As for where they see themselves in five years-besides being 20 years old!-they conclude, "as long as we’re jamming, having fun and together, we don’t care."

THIRD EYE BLIND ON TOUR NOW
Third Eye Blind is on tour Performing their hits and songs from their current EP titled RED STAR with hit song Non Dairy Creamer. Non Dairy Creamer is currently added on 17 Alt/Indie stations and has been in the top few as the most requested week after week hitting the charts out of nowhere. In December 2008 Third Eye Blind quietly released the EP for online/ITunes only. Surpassing expectations of the EP, Third Eye Blind has succeeded in doing what few bands have been able to achieve after being crossed over to pop/ac radio- They regained their alternative base. The song "Non Dairy Creamer"- which Fredianelli wrote the music for, is doing very well at alternative radio charting respectively. “This song is off the EP and we did not push or press and it blew up on its own. That to me is amazing,” explains Tony Fredianelli, guitarist. “We must be doing something right, we have really solid music. The new album coming is some of our best work.”
Fredianelli is also working on a solo project to be released later in 2009. “Before I joined 3EB I was a solo artist. I started playing at 14 and really excelled at guitar. I want to go back to my roots and create some of that shredding guitar that started my career.” At 16 Fredianelli was teaching guitar and caught the eye of famed guitar shred aficionado Mike Varney, owner and president of Shrapnel Records. After listening to a demo tape Varney signed Fredianelli to Shrapnel Records. He formed the speed metal neo-classical band Apocrypha releasing 3 records. Marty Friedman (former Megadeth ax-slinger) produced the first two albums and the third Fredianelli produced himself. In late 1992 Varney introduced Fredianelli to the then unknown singer, Stephan Jenkins and was asked to join the band Third Eye Blind. History was made.
Third Eye Blind has a new record tentatively titled "Ursa Major’ set to be released later this year. Catch them live now!

GEORGE HARRISON’S FIRST EVER CAREER-SPANNING SOLO HITS COLLECTION, ‘LET IT ROLL: SONGS BY GEORGE HARRISON,’ ON JUNE 16
As music legend George Harrison is celebrated today with a new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, Capitol/EMI announces Harrison’s first ever career-spanning solo hits collection, Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison. To be released June 16, the new title will feature digitally remastered tracks in deluxe packaging, including an extensive booklet featuring previously unseen and rare photos. The collection will also be available for download from all major digital service providers.
Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison is the first release that will span his entire solo recording career, including the #1 Billboard Pop singles “My Sweet Lord,” “Isn’t It A Pity,” “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth),” and “Got My Mind Set On You." The new title will also feature live recordings of three Harrison-penned Beatles songs, “Something,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” and “Here Comes The Sun” from his 1971 all-star Concert For Bangladesh benefit at Madison Square Garden. The complete track list will soon be announced.
George Harrison is a twice-inducted member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a solo artist and as a member of The Beatles, and an 11-time Grammy Award winner for his recordings with The Beatles, Traveling Wilburys and as a solo artist.
THE BEATLES’ ENTIRE ORIGINAL RECORDED CATALOGUE REMASTERED
Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music are delighted to announce the release of the original Beatles catalogue, which has been digitally re-mastered for the first time, for worldwide CD release on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (9-9-09), the same date as the release of the widely anticipated “The Beatles: Rock Band” video game. Each of the CDs is packaged with replicated original UK album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections will also be released.
The albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilising state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
The collection comprises all 12 Beatles albums in stereo, with track listings and artwork as originally released in the UK, and ‘Magical Mystery Tour,’ which became part of The Beatles’ core catalogue when the CDs were first released in 1987. In addition, the collections ‘Past Masters Vol. I and II’ are now combined as one title, for a total of 14 titles over 16 discs. This will mark the first time that the first four Beatles albums will be available in stereo in their entirety on compact disc. These 14 albums, along with a DVD collection of the documentaries, will also be available for purchase together in a stereo boxed set.
Within each CD’s new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. With the exception of the ‘Past Masters’ set, newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.
A second boxed set has been created with the collector in mind. ‘The Beatles in Mono’ gathers together, in one place, all of the Beatles recordings that were mixed for a mono release. It will contain 10 of the albums with their original mono mixes, plus two further discs of mono masters (covering similar ground to the stereo tracks on ‘Past Masters’). As an added bonus, the mono “Help!” and “Rubber Soul” discs also include the original 1965 stereo mixes, which have not been previously released on CD. These albums will be packaged in mini-vinyl CD replicas of the original sleeves with all original inserts and label designs retained.
Discussions regarding the digital distribution of the catalogue will continue. There is no further information available at this time.
Capitol/EMI to release The Beach Boys ‘Summer Love Songs’
The Beach Boys have long been the world’s leading, harmonious voice of summer fun, with an ocean’s swell of universally-loved songs about the beach, surfing, hot rods, and in no small measure, girls and sun-kissed romance. 20 of The Beach Boys’ best love songs, from tender ballads to boisterous romps, have been gathered for Summer Love Songs, a new 20-track CD and digital collection to be released May 19 (May 18 internationally) by Capitol/EMI. Three classic tracks have been mixed in stereo for the first time, exclusively for this release, and three others have received new stereo mixes. Two of the new stereo mixes have been created from long lost, newly-recovered analog multi-track masters. A rare track, previously unreleased in the U.S. and long out-of-print in the U.K., is also included.
The Beach Boys’ romantic ballads, including “God Only Knows,” “Please Let Me Wonder,” and “Don’t Worry, Baby,” and their playful, high-energy love songs, including “California Girls” and “Good To My Baby,” come together as the perfect soundtrack to romantic fun in the sun on Summer Love Songs. Evocative of time and place for all who hear them, these classics continue to warm hearts around the world.
Two of Summer Love Songs’ new stereo mixes, for “Don’t Worry, Baby” and “Why Do Fools Fall In Love,” have been created from newly-recovered analog multi-track masters that went missing from the Western Recorders studio in Los Angeles after they were first recorded in the mid-1960s. These original 3-track analog masters were recently recovered by The Beach Boys and Capitol/EMI for the first time since they were used for the band’s Shut Down, Vol. 2 album in 1964. The collection’s four other tracks with new stereo mixes are “Hushabye,” “I’m So Young,” “Good To My Baby,” and “Time To Get Alone.”
Summer Love Songs also includes “Fallin’ In Love,” a song written and recorded by Dennis Wilson during the Beach Boys’ Sunflower album sessions in 1970. The track has never before been released in the U.S. and has long been out-of-print in the U.K. (where it was released as “Lady”). This track has also been mixed in stereo for the first time.
Summer Love Songs follows the worldwide success of 2003’s Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys, now approaching the triple platinum sales mark in the U.S., and 2007’s The Warmth Of The Sun, a career-spanning collection of deeper album cuts, hand-selected and sequenced by The Beach Boys. Summer Love Songs complements the previous collections as a distinct addition to the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ legendary catalog.
In 1961, The Beach Boys began singing about America’s newest craze, surfing. What followed was a wave of hits that vividly expressed the lifestyles, dreams and ambitions of America’s youth. Their signature sound, full of sun-drenched harmonies, golden melodies and descriptive lyrics, delivered a taste of the free and easy California lifestyle to listeners around the world. The music of The Beach Boys brings optimism and a beam of Southern California sun wherever it is played.
For nearly five decades, The Beach Boys, originally comprised of the three Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love, and school friend Al Jardine, have recorded and performed the music that has become the world’s favorite soundtrack to summer. In 1962, Hawthorne neighbor David Marks joined the group for their first wave of hits on Capitol Records, leaving in late 1963, and in 1965, Bruce Johnston joined the band when Brian Wilson retired from touring.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and recipients of The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award, The Beach Boys are an American institution that is iconic around the world.
The Beach Boys will be on tour all summer long. For the latest Beach Boys news and tour dates, please visit the band’s official Website: www.thebeachboys.com

February saw the release of The Cure Trilogy and The Who Live At The Isle Of Wight, while March blossomed with Jeff Beck Performing This Week…Live at Ronnie Scott’s, Asia Fantasia: Live in Tokyo, and Paul Rodgers Live in Glasgow. On April 21, Eagle will bring two more stunning concerts to the Blu-Ray format: Styx One With Everything and Gary Moore & Friends One Night In Dublin – A Tribute To Phil Lynott.
Joining forces on May 26, 2006 with the 115-piece Contemporary Youth Orchestra, conducted by Liza Grossman, prog-rock heroes Styx gave the Cleveland residents a night to remember. The music of Styx was embellished by the 60-member chorus backing them on such classics as "Renegade," "Blue Collar Man," and "Crystal Ball." The DVD also includes two new Christmas songs, interview footage, and a "Quake Cam" (a hidden camera on Todd Sucherman for an up-close and personal look at the man at his drum-kit during the set.) Former Thin Lizzy guitarist extraordinaire Gary Moore gathered his original band comrades to pay tribute to late bassist/frontman Phil Lynott on August 20, 2005. Joining Moore on One Night In Dublin – A Tribute To Phil Lynott, was drummer Brian Downey, guitarists Scott Gorham, Eric Bell and Brian Robertson, as well as Jethro Tull bassist Jonathan Noyce. On this day (which would have been Lynott’s 56th birthday), this group shook Dublin with a bevy of their worldwide hits-"The Boys Are Back In Town," "Jailbreak," and "Don’t Believe A Word." VANCOUVER INDIE ARTIST ADALINE EXPERIENCES THE POWER OF TWITTER
Vancouver indie singer/songwriter Adaline has the power of the internet to thank for tens of thousands of new fans, mere days after serendipitously aligning herself with the two most popular pop culture buzz words of the moment – Twitter and Twilight.
After playing a showcase during Junofest this past weekend in her hometown, Adaline was enjoying the Gibson after party at Richards on Richards when she bumped into Twilight mega star, Robert Pattinson, who plays lead vampire Edward Cullen in the popular flick. The two had a short conversation, after which Adaline proceeded to post that she had met him on her Twitter page. By the next morning, the songstress had received over 3,000 Myspace plays and 100 messages from Twilight fans and newly minted Adaline fans from all over the world.
It quickly became apparent that an online source had found her Twitter post and reported that, "Rob Pattinson was sighted by Adaline, a great Vancouver Indie singer and musician" with a link to her myspace. Her subsequent Myspace blog post about the coincidental evening has sparked interest all over the world, from Australia to Denmark to Los Angeles. In seconds her blog had been posted by fans on dozens of Pattinson sites, was translated into several different languages, and started an unexpected surge of interest in Adaline’s music. Forty hours later, Adaline had over 23,000 myspace plays and 800 messages from people all over the world who had discovered her music.
Though many of these fans came to Adaline’s page because of their love for Twilight, they have now fallen in love with Adaline’s music. Days after the meeting, Adaline is still receiving thousands of plays and hundreds of messages from people who have found something special. They found her music in the most unexpected way.
One post on her myspace page (www.myspace.com/adalinesmusic) from Christin in Denmark reads, "I have to admit that I found you because of the Robert Pattinson story but I’m so thankful for it, otherwise I would have missed great music! I’m totally in love with your music now! Do you know if I can buy your CD in Europe?"
Another from Erika in Australia says, "Hi Adaline, I just discovered your music thanks to your account of how you met Robert Pattinson. I really love your work and I’m going to order your album from CD Baby as soon as I post this. Any chance you might tour Australia, some time?"
With a voice that seamlessly captures intimacy and intensity, ADALINE’S compelling piano compositions, vulnerable lyrics, and haunting melodies have been seducing audiences since 2005.
From pulsing rock, to cabaret, to orchestral ballads, ADALINE creates meticulously crafted soundscapes where brass, strings, and vibraphone meet electric guitars and programmed percussion. Classical and pop sensibilities produce soundtracks that are both artistic and accessible. Often compared to the likes of Fiona Apple, Cat Power, and Tori Amos, ADALINE takes her place among these artists as one who is also inspired by the craft of songwriting and the power of performance.
ADALINE’S debut full length album Famous For Fire has received rave reviews from critics all citing her as one of Canada’s most exciting new artists and was recently placed in the "Top Echelon of Canada’s Female Indie singer-songwriters" by the Vancouver Sun, the Calgary Herald, the Edmonton Journal, The Ottawa Citizen, The Star Phoenix, and the Montreal Gazette (February 2009).
Since the release, ADALINE continues to sell out Vancouver venues, has toured through Canada and has played showcases at Canadian Music Week, The Western Canadian Music Awards, and Junofest. Adaline continues to be a sought after songwriter and vocalist for collaborations with local producers, bands and dj’s and has recently had music licensed to GLOBAL Television’s "The Best Years", LOGO’s "Exes and Ohs" and CBC’s "Heartland" all airing in 2009 on television stations in Canada and the US.
Psychostick Reaches 100k Mark!
This week, the humor core band Psychostick has officially scanned over 100,000 digital tracks for selections from their debut album, “We Couldn’t Think Of A Title.” 76,000 of those downloads were for their hit song, “Beer.” The band is releasing their new album, “Sandwich,” on May 5, 2009, and as part of the lead up to the street date, the band has launched their “Beat Our Meat” contest (www.psychostick.com/beatourmeat). Fans are encourage to create their own one-of-a-kind “epic metal sandwich,” videotape themselves eating it, and five sandwich creations will be selected to win a Psychostick Sandwich gift package, including a signed album, a $25 Subway gift card, and more. Entries are being accepted until Sunday, April 19th at 11:59 p.m. eastern time.
The band continues to climb the radio charts, moving up to #15 on the FMQB Metal Detector Chart, #14 on the CMJ Loud Rock Chart, #21 on the CMJ Loud Rock Select Albums Chart, #40 on the CMJ Loud Rock Select Singles Chart (for “Passive Vengeance”), and #25 on the Mediaguide Metal Specialty Chart.
“Sandwich” is the full-length follow-up to 2006’s “We Couldn’t Think Of A Title.” The album, a 24-track opus to food, email spam, bad directions, revenge, and more food, was recorded by guitarist Josh Key at Toxic Recording in Gilbert, Arizona, and features new members Jake McReynolds on second guitar and former Indorphine vocalist Jimmy Grant on bass. Rounding out the band roster are Alex Preiss (drums), and Rob Kersey (vocals).
Some fast facts in the Psychostick artist development story:
– The band signed with Rock Ridge Music in May 2006 and re-released “We Couldn’t Think Of A Title” in September 2006. It reached #4 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. Their single, “Beer” became a #1 single on XM Radio’s Liquid Metal show for seven weeks. Radio chart-wise, Psychostick climbed the Mediabase "Mainstream Rock" chart to #37 and the "Active" chart to #44. They were the only new, independent band on the charts at the time.
– With the help of RRM’s radio department, the song “Beer” was added to many radio stations in 2006 – KCAL (Riverside) sparked the terrestrial radio onslaught, with WIIL (Chicago), WYSP (Philly), WRIF (Detroit), WIYY (Baltimore), KQRC (Kansas City), and KXXR in Minneapolis showing it a lot of love and spins. Radio street level promotions followed: in 2007, WAAF in Boston had the band play on a parade float for the St. Patrick’s Day celebration, with the band playing “Beer” repeatedly while the float cruised the streets of Boston.
– In Fall 2007, the band released a holiday EP, “Flesheating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride.” The 26-minute EP was received to great press reviews. Touring in support of the holiday EP, Psychostick hit the road in December 2007 on the first annual Holiday Hate Tour (the second annual tour was completed in December 2008).
– Psychostick was on the road through much of 2008, playing over 300 shows, with some actual “named” tours accounting for a chunk of those dates: their Holy Crap We’re Touring Tour lasted through February and March, and their six-week Terrible Shirt Tour (which kicked off in May of 2008), encouraged fans to wear their worst shirts to shows. (This tour also marked the debut of Psychostick as an official Jagermeister band).
– In September of 2008, financed with the donations by fans, the band went into the studio to begin work on “Sandwich.” (All of the fans who donated – 373 total – were thanked in a song on the album, “373 Thank Yous” – which has a run time of 14:19.)
– In December 2008, Psychostick celebrated their 4,000,000th song play on MySpace. The band ranks #3 on the site’s independent comedy charts.

ANTI-FLAG SIGNS TO SIDEONEDUMMY
The seventh full-length Anti-Flag release, The People or the Gun hits stores June 9, 2009. The first Anti-Flag release on SideOneDummy starts off fast and furious as Chris #2 takes aim at those who use the Bible to control the masses. If the album’s second track, "The Economy is Suffering… Let It Die," isn’t nearly as reckless, it’s just as impassioned, as Justin Sane weighs in on the government bailouts of 2008, asking "Where are all the bailouts for the homeless and the poor?" It’s just the sort of question bands like Anti-Flag were born to ask. And there are plenty of those moments on The People or the Gun.
After fulfilling their two-record contract with a major, RCA Records, the band built a studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, their hometown, to cut their first release for SideOneDummy. By having their own studio and not having to work on any schedule but their own, they feel they’re able to create statements and music that is relevant and timely – on their own terms.
As much as Pittsburgh has defined them, though, they’ve always done their best to take their message to the world at large. The band has plans to tour Russia, Estonia, Latvia, the U.K, and South America. They will also be a one of the headliners of this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.
Drummer Pat Thetic says "It’s become a main priority to put the emphasis of our band and every show we play on community, whether it be canned food drives for local food banks, raising money to build wells in Africa, which we did on our U.S. tour, or clothing drives for the homeless on our Canadian tour."
In addition to raising funds for those who need it most, they’ve created the non-profit organizations Military Free Zone (combating a provision in the No Child Left Behind act that invades students’ privacy for Military Recruitment purposes) and Underground Action Alliance (a networking site for social justice). As Chris #2 says, "This is an extension of what our vision of punk rock is, was, and will always be."
A portion of the proceeds from the new album’s pre-sale on the SideOneDummy website will be donated to Amnesty International.

TRINIDAD ROCKERS ORANGE SKY RETURN WITH SOPHOMORE EFFORT
Port of Spain, Trinidad may not be the first city music fans think of when the discussion of ‘hot rockspots’ comes up. But if the sophomore effort from Orange Sky, ‘Dat Iz Voodoo,’ is a representation of the local talent, it may soon join the likes of New York, Seattle, and London. Comprised of singer/lead guitarist Nigel Rojas, rhythm guitarist Joel Beazer, bassist Nicholas Rojas, keyboardist Richard Hall, and drummer Obasi Springer, the style that Orange Sky specialize in is quite varied…yet rocking.
Perhaps a fan once gave the group the highest compliment, by gushing, "You guys sound and perform like if the Wailers and Black Sabbath had a baby."
"I call our sound ‘rock and roll’," says Nigel. "We emulate everything – hard rock, soft rock, punk, reggae, and metal, so I think the term rock and roll covers all these styles, and does not create an expectation from the potential listener of us being too metal, too reggae, too hard, or too soft. Our overall style offers all these soundscapes, colors, and emotions."
‘Dat Iz Voodoo,’ released via StarCity Records, represents a rebirth of sorts for Orange Sky, and proves that the group’s critically acclaimed debut, 2006’s ‘Upstairs,’ was no fluke. Case in point, the album-opening riff monger "Yesterdays and Tomorrows," the thrashy "Psycho World," the industrial-strength reggae-rock of "Is There Anybody There?" (which is a barely recognizable cover of a Scorpions song), and the crunching funk-metal riffs of "Dark Room."
A dozen songs in all, guaranteed to get fists pumping and moshpits swirling – with a couple of lighters-in-the-air/arm-around-your-girl moments in between.
And while ‘Dat Iz Voodoo’ is a fine stylistic showcase for the group, the quintet promises fans that they will take it to the next level on the album’s ensuing tour.
"Orange Sky live is one hell of a bad ass, fist pumping, heart melting, hilarious, thought provoking assault on the nervous system! Within an hour, our show will turn everyone exposed to us into our new friends and future Orange Sky seed sowers.
Sounds arrogant? Not intended, just what we know what we are capable of – ask anyone who has been there. We seriously rock!"

Author releases grunge tome on 15th anniversary of Cobain suicide
Fifteen years after Kurt Cobain’s suicide on April 5th, 1994, comes the authoritative story of grunge. ‘Grunge is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music’ (released April 1, 2009, via ECW Press) by Greg Prato is the definitive story of the Pacific Northwest music scene of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Never before has a book attempted to examine the scene as a whole. Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament says, "Finally, a book about the early years of our little scene in Seattle. I can’t wait to hear all the different perspectives from the people that were actually there, not the so-called experts, who didn’t show up until the ’90s."
Prato will sign copies of his new book at The Book Revue in Huntington, NY on Wednesday, 8-April at 7pm (313 New York Ave), and also at Easy Street Records & Cafe in West Seattle on Saturday, 25-April at 6pm (4559 California Ave SW). These events are free and open to public (for more information, visit www.bookrevue.com and www.easystreetonline.com).
Taking the form of an oral history, Prato’s tome contains over 130 original interviews conducted for the book over a three-year period. No outside interviews are included and most of the interviews are published here for the first time. Some of the original interviews include:
Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam singer
Jeff Ament, Pearl Jam/Mother Love Bone bassist Kim Thayil, Soundgarden guitarist Susan Silver, Soundgarden/Alice in Chains’ manager, ex-wife of Chris Cornell Duff McKagan, Guns N’ Roses bassist Jerry Cantrell and Sean Kinney, Alice in Chains guitarist and drummer Nancy Layne McCallum, mother of late Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley Mark Arm, Mudhoney singer Chad Channing, Nirvana drummer Jack Endino, producer Nirvana/Soundgarden/Mudhoney Charles Peterson, photographer Bruce Pavitt & Jonathan Poneman, founders Sub Pop Records
‘Grunge is Dead’ begins with a retrospective of the ’60s and ’70s that explains the rise of the Seattle music scene. Additionally, a large number of previously unpublished photographs appear in color and black and white throughout the book. The result is the complete first-hand history of grunge. ‘Grunge is Dead’ will allow rock fans to discover a unique chapter in music history, through the experiences of the people who were actually there.
Greg Prato is a Long Island, New York-based journalist whose writing has appeared in All Music Guide, Classic Rock Magazine, and Goldmine Magazine, and is the author of the books ‘A Devil on One Shoulder and an Angel on the Other: The Story of Shannon Hoon and Blind Melon’ and ‘Touched by Magic: The Tommy Bolin Story.’ He has interviewed many noted rock musicians over the years, including members of Rush, Kiss, Jane’s Addiction, The Ramones, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and others.
