Foreshadow – Nations Of Failure

NATIONS OF FAILURE is the first LP from Foreshadow. The Tampa Bay natives “thrash” about through a more radio friendly sound ala Disturbed and Mudvayne, but throw in some death metal elements for good measure.

The death metal really gets lost, though, save for a few growls here and there and minor drumming patters. NATION OF FAILURE, for the most part, is littered with simple riffs that just go on and on. There’s really no movement in the songs; they begin and end in the same place. It also doesn’t help that the production is subpar. But that just might be the too brittle sounding guitar. It’s almost black metal quality. Almost. Lyrically, the band follows the punk tradition of being anti-government and raising awareness about military propaganda.

Altogether, the playing is a bit too sloppy. Awkward transitions and sections where the band does not keep time infest this effort.
