Rezurex – Psycho Radio

Psycho Radio

2008, Cargo Records/Border Music

Rating: 4.0/5

This band is based in Los Angeles and released their debut album BEYOND THE GRAVE in 2006. It’s quite easy to describe Rezurex’s music. It’s a mix of punk, rockabilly, 50’s rock all in one pot. The songs are really catchy and the refrains are easy to remember and sing a long with. You simply have to hear this album. Think of bands like Billy Idol, Misfits, The Cramps, The Damned, Stray Cats, Elvis Presley, The Clash and Sex Pistols. Then you have exactly what Rezurex plays. The bio says that this is horrorpunk that brings back the roots of early 50’s rock’n’roll and combines them with influences of the 80’s that have been long forgotten by mainstream music.

And PSYCHO RADIO really blew my head off the first time I heard it. It’s one of those albums you have to love and that grows even stronger on you for each time you listen to it. Fans of such varied musical taste as goth, punk and psychobilly can unite in this band.

The album is great in every possible way and almost every song is killer tracks.13 songs are run through on 45 minutes and not one of the songs lacks anything. All of them has tempo, energy, vitality, and the quality is really even. I pick “Walk On The Edge”, “Psycho Radio”, “Graveyard Girl”, “Dead World”, “Blue Kiss”, “Vampira Calling”, “Cemetery Tears”, “The Untold” and “The Restless” as killer tracks, almost all of the songs in other words.

There’s nothing to argue with when it comes to PSYCHO RADIO. Rezurex has managed to do the almost ultimate album. It was fun to hear what this band had to offer and I’m really looking forward to hear more from them in the future. It can’t get so much better than this.
