Here we have a new trio from < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />England ready to release their debut album. The band is about to set fire to the British heavy rock ’n’ roll scene; everyone who thought that British rock was dead haven’t heard Zico Chain yet. The three guys met at their university in 2002 and have since played with Wolfmother, Nine Black Alps and The Alkaline Trio amongst others. They have also released the CDS WHERE WOLD YOU RATHER BE? which recently entered the number one position on the MTV2 rock chart.

Zico Chain’s music sounds to my ears like groovy, raw rock ’n’ roll with punk and grunge influences along with a bit of Motörhead. It’s a really pleasant mix of music and genres. I don’t really agree that this sounds British, though; I think it sounds pretty much like an American band. The album is produced by Joe Baresi (Tool, QOTSA, etc.) and he has done a terrific job. He’s managed to get the best out of them and made a perfect production.

It’s hard to pick any favorite tracks because the entire album is full of them; you can say that this album is an explosion of great rock ’n’ roll music with a lot of great melodies and a very heavy sound. Sit back and enjoy this parade of strong songs and great material because it’s gonna be damn hard for the band to repeat this. Maybe they’ll manage to make an even better album – who knows?

Chris Glithero – lead vocals, bass

Paul Frost – guitar

Ollie Middleton – drums
