Keepin’ 6 set to drop debut disc in June

Anyone familiar with the Canadian rock scene can tell you that there hasn’t been a lot of noise coming from the small suburban Mississauga community of Applewood, Ontario. (Hell, most people have never even heard of Applewood.) But now that ska-punk band KEEPIN’ 6 are exploding out of Applewood and the Southern Ontario punk scene, that’s all about to change!

Formed in 2003 by 4 lifelong friends; drummer Matt “Phatty” Wilkinson, guitarist Jason Wilford, bassist Dan Renwick and vocalist Bryan Hotchkiss, KEEPIN’ 6 is a band who’s high energy, and hook-heavy songs blend the best of influences ranging from The Police and Rancid / Operation Ivy to the Foo Fighters. And truth be told, if there’s a band that can sonically bridge the gap between Billy Talent and Rancid, well that band is definitely KEEPIN’ 6.

Having spent the past few years playing hundreds of shows in rec centers, church basements and community halls with their friends in bands like illScarlett, The Flatliners, The Creepshow and The Johnstones (with whom the band released a 2005 indie split CD with; “The Johnstones VS. Keepin’ 6”), KEEPIN’ 6 have already amassed a huge local following that many “more established” artists would kill for. And that huge local following has been waiting a very long time for a full-length album from KEEPIN’ 6!

Produced by Steve Rizun (illScarlett, The Creepshow, Hostage Life) the band’s debut album UNCENSORED is a collection of non-stop, call-to-arms ska-punk anthems guaranteed to have fans screaming along and dancing ’til they drop.

– Look @ Whatcha Got

From the one-two opening punches of “Illusion” and “Scapegoat” on through the reflective sentiments of “Look @ Whatcha Got” and the mellow(er) vibes of “EndZone v.II” and “1086”, the album’s powerful combination of modern rock hooks and punk energy never let up. And with underlying socio-political themes UNCENSORED sees KEEPIN’ 6 give their fans something to chew on beyond the usual “us VS them” punk rhetoric.

With fantastic grooves that will keep the circle pits skankin’, and song-after-song of infectious sing-a-long choruses, UNCENSORED is a modern punk album with the potential to reach mainstream audiences without sacrificing either integrity or intent.

The band will be on tour constantly promoting the album, and with a little luck on their side, 2007 just may be the year that KEEEPIN’ 6 finds legions of new fans world-wide.

…Far beyond the winding suburban streets of Applewood, Ontario.

The Jamestown Union, the hot alternative Americana indie pop band from Brighton UK, are on a mission to recapture the high ground with great songwriting, incredible musicianship, originality and energized performances. The band has been selected to showcase at NXNE 2007, on June 8th at the Cadillac Lounge at 11pm.

The band’s self-titled album was released February 2007 and mastered at Abbey Road Studios; it displays the perfect combination of intelligent lyrics, vocal harmony, guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, pedal steel, fiddle, and dobro. It was named the Sound On Sound album of the month in March, and sold out on its first run at CD baby in the United States. The success of the album has helped in landing The Jamestown Union gigs at the honky-tonks of London, where the Stones made history, and nightclubs, and festivals across the UK.
Six strong musical personalities merge to form the Jamestown Union. Matt Hopwood’s vocals supported by Mel James’s harmonic caresses, sit easily on the bands textured sound built around Jon Ryman’s cloudless mandolin interplayed with Gavin Williams’s razorlike guitar solos, solidified with Jim Cox’s mahogany bass and Rob Biss’s sparkling drums, and finely iced with pedal steel, banjo, violin and dobro.  The resulting sound can take you to heaven, cure your soul of pain and make your feet wish they could dance all night. “It’s almost like we’re going back, picking up the pieces of that great period of music, applying it to the world and making history all over again,” says Ryman.

Although being an unsigned band has afforded The Jamestown Union the maximum creative freedom, they are now grasping the attention of the industry and it is only matter of time until a signing arrives. The Jamestown Union are a guaranteed pleaser for the NXNE crowd.

“Effortlessly melodic & full of sweet melancholy” – Album of the Month, Sound On Sound

“Why The Jamestown Union haven’t been signed is the mystery of the year, go and buy this album now” – Americana UK, 2007

“An astonishingly assured and hugely listenable debut album of pop, it’s one of the best things I’ve heard all year” – Americana UK, 2006

“A stunning new addition to the UK Alt Country Scene. Traditional yet contemporary, emotive lyrics set against an enticing country music soundscape, Sweet hearted sentiments set amid the tensions of modern relationships with the finest instrumentalists – making a big impact ” – Brighton Festival, 2006

Here’s what people are saying about Fair to Midland:

“The quintet’s brawny, dire rock, came off as the real deal, neither as overwrought or whiny as many young bands venturing into that territory. The difference? The range of vocalist Darroh Sudderth, who can belt it out, growl, croon…you name it.”
– Kevin Bronson, LATimes.con “Buzz Bands”

”…Fair to Midland are ultra-eclectic, but their multitracked warbling, dexterous piano caresses, flecks of falsetto, and guitars more sturdy than shreddy lend their art-rock an organic, almost folkie fireside glow. Judging by the live tracks on their Drawn and Quartered EP, these Texans can light up a stage too.”
– Paul Rogers, LA Weekly
“Vocalist Darroh Sudderth transforms from a timid frontman to a spasmatic burst of flailing arms and uninhibited vocal explosions that make him one of the most courageous singers in rock music…Like The Mars Volta or Tool, their skills are multifaceted and require more than just a distracted listen to fully appreciate. This is a band that deserves to be applauded for the chances they are taking.”

Rocket Scientists Conclude Banner Spring Tour

Acclaimed prog rock band receives remarkable reception in Europe & USA Acclaimed American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists returned to their home turf after touring Europe and concluding with a colossal final concert at USA’s RoSFest. The tour kicked off on Saturday, April 7th  in Rotherham, England sponsored by the Classic Rock Society and concluded on April 28th at the Rites of Spring Festival in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. The Rotherham, England show commemorated Rocket Scientists’ first live concert on European ground in 10 years. Additional tour dates were held in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany where Rocket Scientists were welcomed by very receptive audiences.  “I really had a fantastic time touring with Rocket Scientists again”, states Erik Norlander, keyboardist, songwriter and one of the core members of Rocket Scientists. “Over the last several years I have been playing in Europe, Japan, the USA and basically all over the world with Lana Lane and my solo project, but to take Rocket Scientists out on the road again after so much time has gone by was really a special event. Rocket Scientists has played some one-off shows occasionally, but this was the first real ‘Rocket Scientists Tour’ in 10 years! The Rotherham UK show was particularly memorable as that was where Rocket Scientists played our first – ever concert way back in 1997. So we had a little anniversary celebration there. For the musicians themselves, I have known Mark McCrite and Don Schiff for over 20 years now, and it’s so easy to play with them. Guitarist Peer Verschuren and drummer Ernst Van Ee completed the picture as our Dutch “secret weapon”, and after touring with these guys for so many years with my solo project, it was simply a natural evolution to bring them into the Rocket Scientists universe. And of course Lana made the shows extra special with her guest appearance on the last songs of the set. I hope this will be a new beginning of more great RS concert tours for the future.”

The musician lineup for the Rocket Scientists Tour in both Europe and the USA included Erik Norlander – keyboards, Mark McCrite – vocals, guitar and Don Schiff – NS/Stick joined by guest musicians Peer Verschuren on guitar and Ernst Van Ee on drums. Symphonic rock diva Lana Lane also made a special guest appearance on the tour performing several songs at the end of each Rocket Scientists set.

ROCKET SCIENTISTS was formed in the late 1980s by keyboardist Erik Norlander and vocalist / guitarist Mark McCrite. The two released their first CD Earthbound in 1993 joined by then – session bassist Don Schiff. Schiff quickly became a part of the band for their second release in 1995 Brutal Architecture, and the three toured in the US and Europe in 1997 along with drummer Tommy Amato culminating in the live CD Earth Below and Sky Above: Live in Europe and America. In 1999, Rocket Scientists released Oblivion Days, raising the bar on already high expectations. At the turn of the century, Norlander, Schiff and McCrite all worked on solo projects in addition to backing symphonic rock vocal icon Lana Lane on several tours around the world. The latest release is the band’s fourth studio album Revolution Road, a double CD released in the fall of 2006, their strongest and most successful title to date.

LANA LANE is an accomplished rock vocalist with a long history of albums and tours. Lana began touring in Japan in 1998 to support Garden of the Moon and the subsequent Ballad Collection and Queen of the Ocean releases. She then expanded her touring efforts to Europe in 2001 to support Secrets of Astrology with additional tours in 2003 and 2004. Lana has been dubbed as “The Queen of Symphonic Rock” by her fans and the press, and yet she remains a very versatile artist able to move from intimate jazz pieces to bone crushing progressive metal. But in the end it is Lana’s love of melody and artistry that reigns over all. Lana is a dedicated artist who approaches her craft with grace and integrity. She celebrated the 10 year anniversary of her first album in 2005 with the stunning concept album, Lady Macbeth, and has recently released a live DVD of her 10th Anniversary Concert Tour. Lana’s newest release is Gemini, an album of classic rock covers recorded with an all-star band.

Flagship Prog/Rock Ensemble Magellan Returns With “Innocent God” May 15th

Muse-Wrapped Records proudly announces Trent & Wayne Gardner/Robert Berry CD release collaboration

Leading prog/rock trio Magellan returns with their new CD “Innocent God” released by Muse-Wrapped Records, LLC on May 15th, 2007. The outfit, featuring core members Gardner brothers along with Robert Berry (3, GTR, ELP), recorded seven compositions true to the stellar Magellan style spotlighting a highly sophisticated production component of epic proportions.

MAGELLAN represents the second wave of sonic explorers, those who sailed in spirit with the most storied of the prog rock pioneers (e.g., Genesis, Kansas, Rush, Yes) during their youth and now seek to make the journey in practice. At the helm of Magellan are brothers Trent (vocals/keyboards) and Wayne Gardner (guitars), who with bass player Hal Stringfellow Imbrie released their debut album: ‘Hour of Restoration’, in 1991. (Their debut led off with a five-part suite entitled ‘Magna Carta’). A historical concept album about England, it was followed by the similar-sounding ‘Impending Ascension’. Magellan returned in 1997 with ‘Test of Wills’, which represented a slight departure from the band’s original sound (though the group, which included drummer Brad Kaiser, remained intact). In 2002, the Gardners released the ambitious ‘Hundred Year Flood’, dedicated to the brother they lost in the Vietnam War. Though not necessarily a prolific band, Magellan’s well-crafted and ambitious efforts have made them something of a flagship among prog rock’s second armada of artists.

Magellan is:
Trent Gardner
default vocalist and keyboard minimalist
Wayne Gardner
highly overpaid production consultant
Robert Berry
plays a long list of familiar instruments

ROBIN BECK set to release new disc

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce all details surrounding the release of ROBIN BECK’s forthcoming studio album project “Livin’ On A Dream” on July 6th 2007.

Robin started writing the songs that would make the follow up to “Do You Miss Me” in late 2006. “I started co-writing back in December and completed the first song “Nothing’s Gonna Change Your World” in January 2007″ says Robin, who adds “I wanted to write songs that would rock my own personal way. The biggest difference between the new CD, “Livin’ On A Dream” and ‘Do you Miss Me” is that this new CD is driven by my own story lines. “Do You Miss Me” lacked that aspect… There is a tougher, more edgy melodic/rock foundation to the stories”.

Robin was not alone in her powerful new undertaking, “Livin’ On A Dream”. “There is a strong new member of my writing team, Tommy Denander” states the now Florida-based singer. “Tommy is a powerful player and his input was key to this project becoming my best work as a writer and a singer.. Tommy co- produced with James Christian my partner and husband and we all worked in perfect harmony together. Another one of the highlights of this CD is the collaboration between Chris Pelcer, James Christian, Jeff Kent and my self on the song “Always”. I’m also back with my closest writing partner, Jeff Kent who put me firmly back into my truest Rock n’ Roll shoes. Jeff and I are an amazing writing team. I also had the privilege of working with “guitar great”, Jimi Bell and drummer “extraordinaire” BJ Zampa, both House Of Lords band members. In my opinion, we wrote two of best rockers on the CD. Last, but not least, I will always have a touch of my favorite songwriters Amy Sky and Marc Jordan somewhere in my work. They collaborated on a a song called “Until The Last Teardrop Falls” which brought James and I together for a heart pounding ballad that shows the profound love we share in no uncertain terms. Of course, James is at the helm of everything magnificent about these recordings. He is t he only producer I have ever worked with who really knows how to bring the best out in my vocal performances. These are best productions of my career, period!”

“Livin On a Dream” promises to be Robin Beck’s most powerful and exciting creation ever! “This CD is what my fans have been asking me to record for years now. An entire CD of my own work realized. I am so proud of these recordings. All the songs you will find have provocative and memorable hooks with monster playing. We all found a unique collaboration of creative energies that made “Living on a Dream” be an artist’s dream come true”.

“Livin’ On A Dream” will include the following tracks:
Livin’ On A Dream; Show Me The Way; Love Me Like A Man; Always; Nothing’s Gonna Change Your World; Seventeen Forever; Can’t Get Enough Of Your Heart; Runaway; Wrapped Around Your Finger; It’s Magic; I Can’t Walk The Line; Till The Last Tear Drop Falls: Love Lies.

Release date is scheduled on July 6th 2007 on Frontiers Records.

Don’t Miss Droid on Family Values this summer with Korn, Evanescence, Atreyu and more.

This five piece hailing from Long Beach, California creates a menacing sound which features rapid-fire riffs and power grooves with a violent crushing delivery. On their self-titled Emotional Syphon

Recordings debut, Droid embrace a bludgeoning aesthetic that pummels and punishes. They are a cutting edge band who pushes the boundaries of heavy metal. This musical foundation is the core that allows Vocalist James “Buddy” Eason to channel an honest brutality that takes Droid’s brand of metal to soaring new heights and into a dark, violent and cathartic realm.

Droid’s debut marks the first release for Emotional Syphon, founded by revolutionary Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer. After catching a Droid show at Hollywood’s historic Whisky-A-Go-Go, Munky immediately signed the band as the label’s flagship act, and they recorded their inaugural offering at Korn’s Elementree Studios in Los Angeles. The sessions resulted in a volatile collection of tracks.

Their songs strike each listener with a vibrancy that separates Droid from the oversaturated scene surrounding them. Says Eason: “You’ve got to be true to where you come from, and each one of us has a metal background. So we want to pay homage to what we love, but bring it with a new flavor. I want to mix real hardcore into it a little bit, as well. Our goal is to be a band that’s always evolving. We’re never leaving metal, and that’s an oath I will always stand by—but we will evolve.”

The blueprint has been drawn with this release, and there’s no turning back. A standout track and an unforgettable collision of chaos “Vengeance is Mine”, showcasing a collaboration with Deftones frontman

Chino Moreno. The song is a volley of vitriol between the two singers, a twisted call and response with Eason’s commanding roar answering Moreno’s tortured, profound and often hypnotic high-pitched scream. “The contrast between me and Chino is sick,” says Droid frontman. “I learned a lot from just watching Chino in the studio. I’ll continue to learn and want to work with people like that but, at the same time, be able to hold my own.

Touring with Korn on 2003’s Back 2 Basics tour introduced Droid to America, who got another taste of the chaos on Family Values 2006. Mixing a raw East Coast hardcore ferocity with calculated metallic warfare, Droid have become a fine-tuned machine in front of a crowd. “It’s like a brick wall coming at you 100 miles per hour”, says Eason. “You can basically come to our shows and release all of your hate.”

Ultimately, what’s drawn so much attention to this band is their deep honesty. “If you’re not honest, people can tell”, concludes Eason. “People can tell if you’ve never experienced the things that you’re singing about. People will vibe you and see if you’re the same guy. The last thing I want is to be fake about anything.”

Quotes guitarist Jaime Teissere – “This record will force you to take your balls out of your mom’s purse.“

Make no mistake, this metal is real!!!

Joe Shithead Keithley, Canada’s punk godfather and leader of the legendary D.O.A. has gathered together some of Vancouver’s best musicians for his latest project Band of Rebels.

Coming from a punk background that has influenced fans, musicians and activists for the last 30 years, Band of Rebels covers his punk roots, but it flows wildly out from there. Keithley manages to combine punk-a-billy, ska, roots punk and even a little hard funk into a gripping, confrontational, but blatantly funny look at life on our evolving ball of confusion known as earth.

When asked why he has recorded a solo album when D.O.A is still going strong, he had this to say. “I have to stretch out and try new things; this is a different way to fight the system. Band of Rebels is like an extension of D.O.A., musically it’s little different, but it’s still nuts and it’s still meant to cause trouble and stir shit up!”

Joe knew that this had to be a group effort, not another pretentious solo CD from yet another fucking band dude who uttered the hackneyed phrase “I’m going solo, you see I’m a sensitive artist.” No, Shithead knew he needed a band that could really pull off stirring versions of his songs.

The Rebels started out with a trio that maybe was just as suited to causing trouble as making an album. The Great Baldini on drums (D.O.A.) Joe on guitar and vocals and Black Jacques Chirac on bass (rumored to have been mixed up in French politics).

To expand the sound (and to maybe aid in the potential takeover of western governments and banks, same thing really…) Joe lured producer and mixer CHON (D.O.A., Be Good Tanyas) into the Rebel’s clandestine fold.

Joe and CHON then scanned through the most wanted list and came up with these co-conspirators. Randy Rampage-vocals and bass (D.O.A., Annhilator, SF9), Chris Gestrin-keyboards (Jim Byrnes Band), Kuba Ohms-vocals (Velvet), Sho Murray-vocals (Shocore), Kevin Kane-vocals (Grapes of Wrath), John Korsrud-trumpet (Hard Rubber Orchestra), Liam MacDonald-percussion (Bocephus King), Jesse Zubot-violin (Zubot and Dawson), Coco Love Alcorn-vocals, Adam Bartlett-vocals (Adamnation), Bill Runge-saxaphone (Hard Rubber Orchestra) and Jeremy Holmes-standup bass (Bughouse Five).

The Rebels lay the music out in a wild and compelling manner. Shithead lyrically covers a wide gamut of topics. They range from rebellion to marijuana to Armageddon to Star Trek to rip off record companies. They even belt out a late nite bar room tribute to one of the original rebels, Leadbelly (“Goodnight Irene”). Yeah, Joe and his Band of Rebels take on the system and they do it well.

Band of Rebels is out June 19th, so come and join the revolution.

It is not often that a band comes along that can be compared to any number of bands yet embody each of them equally.  This is what Tucson’s The American Black Lung brings to the table.  The band’s sound is part early Black Flag, part Iggy Pop, part The Bronx, and part The Hellacopters. “An incendiary mix of hardore, hardrock, with a dollop of garage rock and a sliver of metal thrown in for good measure,” says All Music Guide.  Having recently signed with Laguna Beach’s Uprising Records, The American Black Lung is poised to release their sophomore effort Sudden Departure Of Vultures on July 10.
Since forming in 2003, The American Black Lung has toured North America and Europe numerous times with the likes of MXPX, Further Seems Forever, and Valient Thor among many others.  This summer looks to be no different as the band will be taking their captivating, sweat-drenched live show on the road with The Bled and then return to the Warped Tour for the second year in a row.  The American Black Lung came together as a group of friends looking to pay homage to their music that has influenced them and molded them into the people they are today. The band is comprised of Johnny Detroit (guitars), Dusty Rhoads (bass), Easy E (guitars), W. Moon (drums), and Diamond Rhino shedding on vocals.  With the band’s stock already rising steadily, make no doubt the release of Sudden Departure Of Vultures will take The American Black Lung to the next level.

When one thinks of the original Woodstock Festival, classic performances of such bands as the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, and Santana immediately come to mind. But one group that handed in one of the festival’s show-stopping (and certainly, one of the most rocking) performances was Ten Years After, who subsequently built a sizeable fanbase of people starved for classic blues rock. Now, 40 years after the group’s original formation, Ten Years After – Joe Gooch (vocals, lead guitar), Chick Churchill (keyboards), Leo Lyons (bass guitar), and Ric Lee (drums, no relation to Alvin) – is rocking the tour trail once more.
During the group’s first go-round (from 1967 to 1974), the focal point of Ten Years After was guitar hero/singer Alvin Lee. It was the Lee-fronted line-up that rocked Woodstock, and also scored several hits (tops on the list being “I’d Love to Change the World” and “I’m Going Home”) as well as the hit albums ‘Sssh’ (1969), ‘Cricklewood Creek’ (1970), and ‘A Space in Time’ (1971), before splitting up. The group reunited briefly in the late ‘80s, before going their separate ways once more. Come the early 21st century, Ric Lee had unearthed a gem from the vaults, ‘Live at the Fillmore East’ (from 1970), which got the band members considering another go ‘round. With Alvin Lee the only member not willing to move forward, Gooch stepped in, and the group has been a lean, mean, rockin’ machine ever since.

“It’s better – has more of a band feel than before” explains Ric Lee about the Gooch-fronted Ten Years After. “The energy level is frightening from three old bastards and a young dude who is able to play the signature licks, and yet impart his own original stamp on everything.” Lyons adds that the move to replace Alvin was out of necessity to keep the band alive, but has worked out for the best. “Alvin Lee did not have the enthusiasm to tour. Joe joining Ten Years After has been a very positive thing and has given the band a renewed energy. I think the band is now playing like it did when the fire was first lit way back in 1967. We have more fun on stage than we’ve ever had and it shows in our music.”

And although it’s been 40 years since Ten Years After first took shape, the upcoming Anniversary Tour will show the quartet is still firing on all cylinders. “We’re determined to give them as good a time as we have playing for them,” says Lyons. “It’s a real pleasure to be back on tour. We’ll play a selection of the most requested songs from our earlier records plus new material from ‘Now’ (2004) and ‘Roadworks’ (2005). We’ll also be slipping in some as-yet-unrecorded material. After the show we’ll come out to meet our fans and sign any albums or CD’s they bring along.”

And if the upcoming tour wasn’t enough to satisfy longtime fans, Lee unveiled that the group is also currently hard at work on an all-new studio set. “Writing is going on as we speak, and a new album should surface in early 2008. The music will no doubt still have a blues base but will move forward from where ‘Now’ and ‘Roadworks’ left off.”

After the 40th Anniversary Tour winds down, Ten Years After plans on finishing off the forthcoming album, before…hitting the road again, says Lyons. “The 40th Anniversary tour runs until May 2008 and travels all over the world. It’s a heavy commitment. We plan to release at least one DVD and one studio CD. After that I guess we’ll start the 41st Anniversary tour. We all enjoy playing.”

In addition to U.S. dates, Ten Years After also plans on performing this year in such exotic locales as the Far East, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. According to Lee, expect to be rocked. “A powerful, ass-kicking Ten Years After – playing old and new like the fans have not seen or heard before.”

The rock world is on fire with the release of UK power trio GMT’s new heavy hitting CD Bitter & Twisted. GMT features Bernie Torme: Irish guitar legend and frontman, known for saving the day for Ozzy Osbourne when guitarist Randy Rhoads tragically died, as well as hits and tours with Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Desperado, Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, Torme, LA Guns singer Philip Lewis and much, much more…
John McCoy: Larger than life lead bass player, a man mountain with a huger sound. Former bass player and producer with Gillan, Mammoth, Sampson, Joey Belladonna (Anthrax), UK Subs, and Atomic Rooster.
Robin Guy: Powerhouse tribal drummer previously with Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Faith No More, Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), Adam Ant and many others.

GMT’s new CD Bitter & Twisted, released on Bernie Torme’s label Retrowrek Records, has been receiving rave reviews worldwide. Here’s what some of the critics are saying:

“Once you pop in the rocking debut, Bitter & Twisted from GMT (Guy McCoy Torme ), it’s like throwing a lit match in a pool of gasoline! Coming at you like a battering ram the trio unleash their rock fury with… Like the late Joe Strummer and Rancid, GMT have not only embraced Punk, but elevate it to its truest art and rawest form. Combining it around richly textured power guitar hooks and an attitude that would bring a brama bull to its knees. There is something incredibly special about this band.
– (The Atomic Chaser) Access Magazine, Los Angeles, CA USA

“…GMT have released an album that not only will peel the paint off your walls, but will definitely perk up the ears of any fan of no nonsense heavy rock, resulting in one of the finest records of the year in the process… Remarkably diverse, especially for the power trio format, what GMT have come up with is a most impressive, cohesive mix of songs certain to find favor with all those who seek this out. Rather than merely playing it safe and coming up with something predictable, these three extremely talented rock veterans have created an album which is as vital as anything being released in heavy rock today, while still retaining enough of the classic elements which brought them recognition in the first place.”

“If you thought the idea of a stripped-down rock ‘n’ roll power trio was dead and buried in these technological times, think again. GMT are as raw as untreated sewage – and as environmentally unfriendly… Enjoy. This is as twisted as a tornado.”
– Classic Rock Magazine – UK

“…This album ROCKS and then some!.. think Thin Lizzy meets the Pogues, this album is a sheer joy. As a three piece they exude so much power, in fact a melodic Motorhead would be a near comparison. The power trio as it should be done: no frills rock ‘n’ roll…”

“I’m so pleased, I can’t believe it,” says Bernie Torme about the rave reactions the new GMT CD has been garnering. “I’ve been recording albums since 1978 when my first album was recorded, but I don’t think I’ve ever played on an album, or recorded any album that has received such an amazing response. The thing is, we recorded it, and it was just for our own enjoyment. It wasn’t actually planned to be a popular album. It was just a case of going and recording an album, just as we are, because it was enjoyable playing together. We’ve had great press, just amazing press!”

In support of Bitter & Twisted GMT are playing several select UK dates:

July 07, 2007 – The Pitz, Milton Keynes
July 21, 2007 – Riga Club, Southend
July 28, 2007 – The Rock & Blues Custom Show, Derbyshire

Sept. 07, 2007 – The Twist, Colchester
Sept. 08, 2007 – The Academy, Manchester
Sept. 29, 2007 – Esquires, Bedford
Nov. 02, 2007 – Boardwalk, Sheffield
Nov. 16, 2007 – The Point, Cardiff
Nov. 29, 2007 – Carling Academy, Liverpool

Recently, Bernie Torme has been doing a series of in depth interviews with the likes of, and UK’s Metal Mayhem. Also, the legendary guitarist was listed in the April 2007 edition of Classic Rock Magazine’s Top 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes. As a follow-up to Bitter & Twisted, and the band’s 3-track EP Cannonball, Guy McCoy Torme are currently back in the studio recording their next album.

The BLACK LIPS to play Croatia

They’ve been dubbed the “hardest working band at SXSW” by the New York Times and “one of the best live bands in America” by Rolling Stone, and this summer the Black Lips storm the shores of the UK, Europe and Israel to show them how it’s done in Atlanta.  You’d think after running all over the country on a firey tour with the Ponys and playing more shows in three days than a Las Vegas chorus girl the fellas would want a break, but while the bags are already packed, why not just keep going.  6 shows in Holland?  Why not?  Showing Croatia and Israel a good time the Black Lips way?  Sounds about right.  World, meet the Black Lips.

The new record is usually followed with some Rick Springfield or Supertramp, if that gives any indication of what this record can do for you. KARI KIMMEL Releases  A DAY IN THE LIFE On June 15th

A DAY IN THE LIFE, the new album by singer/songwriter Kari Kimmel and her first solo album release ever, is spellbinding with infectious songs. To Make You Smile, the first single release, will certainly be most striking to the fans. “The verse and chorus were written in 5 minutes,” explains Kari Kimmel. “This song wrote itself as I was waiting for a friend- it just fell out.”
If you haven’t heard of Kari Kimmel, you will be familiar with her work. A music veteran at age 26, Kimmel’s music can be heard featured on box office movies such as White Chicks, Shall we Dance, Ella Enchanted as well as T.V. shows like The Gilmore Girls, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, 8 Simple Rules, Laguna Beach and The Hills to name a few.
Kimmel started playing piano at age 10 and writing for other bands in high school. By age 19 she was signed to a development deal with Atlantic Records. From Atlantic she moved to Virgin Records in 2005. She has written for artists from Disco Diva Gloria Gaynor to Kimberley Locke (American Idol runner up) in which Kimmel’s song “I could” was a hit single.
Now Kimmel is writing her own album for the first time. *A DAY IN THE LIFE is an album based on real life experiences that are either personal or about someone near and dear. Most of the songs were written in a year, and are the best songs that sonically fit Kimmel’s trademark personality. “As a songwriter I have written many songs for others singers including r&b & country performers,” Kimmel explains. I get my best ideas when I sleep, so in the middle of the night I wake up and run to the piano so I don’t lose them.
For Kari Kimmel A DAY IN THE LIFE is the beginning of an auspicious career in music, never mind that the artist creating it has been making music for 16 years.
A DAY IN THE LIFE is currently exclusive at iTunes, CD Baby, and

Frontiers announces new releases

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the reissue of MICHAEL THOMPSON BAND’s masterpiece “How Long” on June 8th 2007.
In order to coincide with the release of Michael Thompson’s new band debut album TRW’s “Rivers of Paradise”, Frontiers and Michael agreed that it was a perfect time to re-release this masterpiece on the same day.
In 1988, after working to try and get a deal with his band Slang for several years, Thompson got signed by Geffen Records to release one album entitled “How Long”, under the Michael Thompson Band (MTB) monicker.
The singer for this group was Rick ‘Moon’ Calhoun, previously front man for the AOR cult band THE STRAND, Michael’s long time friend. Completing the line-up were another bunch of highly respected studio professionals such as: John Andrew Schreiner (on keyboards), Leon Gaer (bass), John Keane (drums).
On “How Long” more musicians appeared, in particular drummer-maestro Terry Bozzio, Pat Torpey (of MR BIG), bassist Jimmy Haslip, ex KANSAS vocalist John Elefante, TOTO’s Bobby Kimball and GREAT WHITE associates Michael Lardie and Wyn Davis (who also produced the album).
As of today “How Long” is regarded as one of the highest examples of hi-tech AOR / West Coast, with a superb production and immaculate songwriting. During the years it became more and more of a collector’s item and the prices paid on E-bay exceeded 80 dollars!
This 2007 reissue comes completely remastered and adds two songs which were recorded during the original sessions and the first fruit of a reunion between Michael, Moon Calhoun and songwriter Jeff Paris entitled “Wheelchair”: an appetizer for an upcoming brand new album to be expected sometime in 2008 !
Final tracklisting of “How Long” reissue shall be:
Secret Information; Give Love a Chance; 1000 Nights; Wasteland; Never Stop Falling; Can’t Miss; Gloria; Stranger; Baby Come Back; How Long; Right To Be Wrong (bonus track); Love Goes On (bonus track); Wheelchair (new song).
In the meanwhile tracklisting for the highly anticipated album from TRW (the new alliance between Michael Thompson with former BRIDGE 2 FAR members and top-session players John Robinson and Mark Williamson) has been finalized.
The album “Rivers of Paradise” will include the following tracks:
Set My Spirit Free / Rivers of Paradise; Hold On; Indiscretion; Gonna Be Some Changes; Only a Letter; Hard Time Love; One Good Woman; Love Comes Callin’; Alimony Blues
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to welcome back some great AOR heroes !!!
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of Swedish Melodic Metal hopefuls SEVEN TEARS !
Previously known as ATLANTICA (their demo received a great review on SWEDEN ROCK Magazine in early 2006) the band is now formed by Jonathan Carlemar on guitars, Fredrik Lager on bass, Kristofer von Wachenfeldt on keyboards (PLATITUDE), Michael Sjöö on drums (SPEARFISH) and singer Zoran Djorem. With this line-up SEVEN TEARS recorded the demo “The Story Unfolds” which was sent in early 2007 to the attention of Frontiers Records who immediately liked the music and offered a recording deal to the guys in February 2007.
“It is absolutely fantastic to get a deal with Frontiers. A dream come true!” said guitar player Jonathan Carlemar, who presents SEVEN TEARS music as “Evergrey meets Journey: an unique mixture of  Melodic Metal and an AOR-feeling with some prog-elements. The mixture of different styles from the members musical past gives the band a unique sound towards today’s rock/metal bands”.
SEVEN TEARS are currently busy recording the debut album under the direction of  Peter Lundin (SPEARFISH) at Teknik Kompaniet Studios in Vetlanda, Sweden. Frontiers hopes to release the album during the fall 2007.
