Sweden\’s Sparzanza was an entirely new acquaintance even though the band has been around for a while and put out a couple of albums. However, the band’s latest opus BANISHER OF THE LIGHT definitely came out of the blue and comes to a nice unexpected surprise.
The 11-song album offers a great deal of catchy and melodic hooks capturing the listener making them pay attention to the album. The grooving stoner rock elements with a modern rock approach could be said to be the name of the game. Frankly, the combination of those styles definitely works extremely well together. Obviously, some industrial parts seem to be playing a creative as well as important part of the sound of Sparzanza creating and giving their own vibes to the personal and recognizable touches. The vocalist, Fredrik Weileby’s dark and dismal voice has is slightly similar to Ian Astbury of The Cult and even Glen Danzig could be a suitable comparison. Weileby’s voice definitely fits perfectly to the dismal and stoner oriented material. As usual the sounds are massive and brilliant giving nothing but advantages for Sparzanza to be a superb rocking stoner (or whatever) metal band. The Swedish five piece has delivered an ass kicking output and to no surprise, their video has been in rotation on Swedish music channels and radio stations have been constantly playing their tunes.
Presumably, BANISHER OF THE LIGHT is to be a real breakthrough album for Sparzanza. The album contains all the elements required to catapult them to the big league.
