“Every once in awhile an artist comes along that changes the course of music, puts their own stamp on the industry, and is a leader not a follower. Krista D is that person for this decade.” –  The Phantom Tollbooth

“Krista D is one of the most genuine and creative female artists to come out of Canada.” – Cecilia, Saint Rock n Roll

“What can I say about this CD, it is the GO-GO’s gone punk, Mazzy Star revved up, completely unique and creative. In other words, go out and buy it RIGHT NOW.” – Lipstik Reviews

“Jane’s World” is bursting with vivid, stunning emotion. Krista D’s songs dig deep and present heartfelt opinions and profound issues that teens can relate to.” – Ashley Chandra, Youthink

“Krista D is in fact one of Canada’s most promising young singers, who has a passion writing deep, meaningful lyrics and catchy rock melodies to boot.” – Jason Gladu, Pop Journalism

“Jane’s World is packed with intelligent and thought provoking lyrics but remains upbeat and fun.” – Krista Rappel, Sugarcain Entertainment

“Her lower natured vocals and acoustic guitar bring to mind artists such as Janis Joplin or Sarah Mclaughlin, while songs tampering with punk/pop-rock feel reminiscent of Avril Lavigne.”  “Jane’s World is genuine, brutally honest, and refuses to follow trends.” – Josh McConnell, Renown Magazine

David Judson Clemmons is bringing his latest cd to North America!   This Virginia born, Berlin-based musician has been described by Rolling Stone Magazine as ‘a dangerous secret’, ‘timeless, beautiful’ and ‘a hero’.  While this makes him a favourite on stages all across Europe, Clemmons hasn’t spent much time on this side of the pond. Until now.

Clemmons will be undertaking a solo North American tour in support of his new album, Yes Sir.  The project is a departure for Clemmons, with a satisfying mix of upbeat, optimistic songs and the darker material European fans have come to expect.  From Yes Sir, the country-ish, guitar-laden title track, to the emotionally explosive “Red Hot Soul” to the politically relevant satire like “Silicone City,” this album scratches every musical itch.   It features James Schmidt, Anne de Wolff and Jan Hampicke.  Yes Sir also marks Clemmons debut as a percussionist – he’s behind the kit on two tracks.
Clemmons’ family tree of projects includes Damn the Machine, a tour with Montreal’s Voivod, Jud (power trio from Richmond) and currently with The Fullbliss combined with many solo performances, including recent shows at such legendary venues as the Troubadour Club (Chelsea), SoHo Revue Bar (London’s West End), the Sidewalk Café (New York) and the Plush Lounge/Key Club (Hollywood). Yes Sir was recorded and mixed in Joe Floyd’s California studio.  The result is an intimate, explosive album tucked into an enhanced cd-rom along with three video clips and an interview.

You can buy Yes Sir, as well as Clemmons’ earlier work, VIA I-Tunes or by emailing

What’s wrong with having a little bit of fun with rock n’ roll?
The Rezidudes are certainly unhappy with the current over-serious state of rock n’ roll and this Manchvegas, New Hampshire-based quintet are ready to do something about it with their April 1st (yep, April Fool’s Day) release for Screaming Ferret Wrecords, ‘Welcome to the Suck.’
Think South Cali pop punk (Me First and the Gimme Gimme’s, Avail, No Use for a Name, etc.) with heavy metal guitars, and you’re not far off from the Rezidudes’ musical forte. But instead of specializing in original compositions, the quintet takes well-known songs from the 50’s through the 80’s and transforms them into metal/punk party anthems – including Simon and Garfunkel’s “The Boxer”, John Denver’s “Country Roads” and even the “Theme from Cheers”, among others.
Comprised of Shannon Verfaillie (vocals), Meliah Rage’s Jim Koury (guitar), Kevin Cornish (guitar), Jimbo Ormiston (bass), and Andre Dube (drums), The Rezidudes are (according to Cornish) “…a group of life long friends who enjoy getting together once a week to live out our mid-life crisis, rock and roll fantasies and have a good time. In a nut shell, we get a kick out of taking tired old mellow songs that everybody knows and giving them a swift kick in the ass. Picture the evil offspring of Carly Simon and Joey Ramone if you would.”
‘Welcome to the Suck’ was recorded at Screaming Ferret Studios in Manchester, New Hampshire by label head Tim Koukos, and mastered by Grammy Award Winner Doc Wiley at Sonic Nerve Studio in Miami Beach, Florida.

“This had to be one of, if not the most, fun sessions I’ve ever recorded and co-produced,” admits Koukos.  “The hardest part was trying to stop laughing while we were tracking so we could actually finish the recordings! Very fond memories from this one that I’ll truly cherish for the rest of my life.”

Debut full-length Fables From a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times is True out June 12

Founded in the quiet farm town of Sulphur Springs, Texas—“Where people still say ‘please’ and ‘thank you,’” as its chamber of commerce notes—Fair to Midland have become one of the most idiosyncratic musical forces in the Lone Star State. But as singer Darroh Sudderth—who rounds out FTM’s current lineup with guitarist Cliff Campbell, drummer Brett Stowers, bassist Jon Dicken, and keyboardist/electronics manipulator Matt Langley—explains, idiosyncrasy also helps give the band its internal power.

“For the most part, our musical tastes are completely different,” Suddereth begins.  “All of our songs are just us trying to find a happy medium between what everyone in the band listens to—and I think that actually being able to do that is what makes us so different from a lot of other bands today.”

“Disciplined stream-of-consciousness” is an apt phrase to describe Fair to Midland’s music, which deftly fuses hard rock with art rock, shot through with soaring vocals, virtuosic guitars, allegorical lyrics, a driving rhythm section and richly woven keyboards.  This stream-of-consciousness is impressively showcased on Fables From a Mayfly, the band’s full-length debut being jointly released by Universal Republic and Serjical Strike (Serj Tankian from System of a Down’s own imprint) on June 12th, 2007.

With songs such as “Kyla Cries Cologne,” “April Fools and Eggmen,” “A Wolf Descends Upon The Spanish Sahara,” and “Dance of the Manatee” (the album’s first single which is currently taking radio by storm) the band captures the ear with unparalleled force, coupled with rich orchestration reminiscent of Queen and hard rock dynamism in the vein of Tool, King Crimson and Mars Volta.

And if their song titles sound more like names of paintings, this may be intentional; they do reflect the grandeur of Fair to Midland’s music:
Sparkling, but not ostentatious…beautiful, but not overwhelming…powerful, but not pummeling.

Listen to “Vice Versa”:
Say hello and hear more music:

In celebration of their forthcoming release titled “A Natural Death” (KOCH 6/26) HORSE The Band  triumphantly sets out for their first  headline U.S. tour, aptly named “Radicalysm,”.  HTB guitarist Dave Islen exclaims, “The HORSE will ride HIGH and STRONG.”

HORSE the band returns from the future to prepare the world for the imminent metaphysical crisis of its upcoming classic June 26, 2007 release, “A Natural Death,” the award winning, multi-platinum effort that in all possible worlds entails a violation of causality that unravels the fabric of space-time.”

“’A Natural Death’ is about the futility and arrogance of creation and destruction, the overwhelming scale of space and time, and the brutal majesty of nature, the horror of birth and the beauty of  death .  Everyone who will ever live will die a natural death, and will soon after be forgotten for eternity.  Hopefully this album will serve as a warning to the human race to stop taking itself so seriously, as we have seen the dire consequences of its actions in the future.  You are nothing.”  Proclaims keyboardist  Erik Engstrom

HORSE the band consists of five demi gods running from a haunted past they can’t possibly remember. Formed on the mean streets of Los Angeles after the birth of the new millennium, the members of HORSE began to create their exotic sound to fight the past and create the future.

HORSE the band consists of Nathan the tormented poet beast on vocals, David the hyper-intelligent lover on guitar, Erik the child-like wizard of keyboards, Chris the baby horse awaiting his gelding on drums, and Dash the gritty urban barbarian on bass.

HORSE the band’s music has won them many accolades for energy and originality. Often referred to as ‘nintendo-core’ because of their spastic and glorious brutality, they prefer to strike out and create their own unique sounds each time they manifest their powers. Among their many achievements HORSE was listed as one of Alternative Press’

Magazine’s Top 100 Bands to Watch. One thing is for certain – You will love them or you will pretend not to, but in the end you can not deny their prowess.

New Crossfire Releases – Led Zeppelin, Zombies and Former Zappa Members – Soon To Hit The Streets!

Formidable publisher and record label, Crossfire Records, has some ambitious new releases lined-up for Spring 2007. Crossfire, who has blazed a name in the rock music publishing field by issuing invaluable documentations on music legends like Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, Manfred Mann and The Zombies, are sole distributors of Led Zeppelin: The Montreux Concerts. Led Zeppelin can be considered the quintessential rock stars of the 1970s with their special brand of classic hard rock. Written by Gilles Chateau and Sam Rapallo, the book explores the band’s special relationship with the legendary concert venue, home of the famous Montreux Jazz Festival. Co-author and photographer of Led Zeppelin: The Montreux Concerts, Gilles Chateau, shares his incredible never-before-seen collection of photographs along with insightful interviews, research and text by Sam Rapallo. A portion of the proceeds from the book’s sales go to two of Jimmy Page’s charities – The ABC Trust and Casa Jimmy.

In keeping with the Led Zeppelin book, Crossfire is making exclusively available Danish photographer Jorgen Angel’s fantastic limited edition lithograph “The First Performance”, with photos from Led Zeppelin’s very first gig in Copenhagen, Denmark on Sept. 7, 1968!

A revised edition of Crossfire’s critically acclaimed Zombies book Time Of The Season: The Zombies Collectors Guide , will be issued in early March 2007, including eight additional pages of material covering the band’s activities and recordings since the original edition.

On the record label front, Crossfire has lined-up rare, archival releases by former Frank Zappa and the Mothers Of Invention members, such as Jimmy Carl Black, Don Preston and Bunk Gardner. When Do We Get Paid?, an archival collection of Jimmy Carl Black “the Indian Of The Group” rarities, was originally released in the UK in 1996. Crossfire head honcho Greg Russo has remastered and re-EQ’d the original recordings making them sound better than ever! The CD also includes three bonus tracks. Other CDs in the Crossfire catalogue include two rare compilations by surf music giants The Tornadoes, Now And Then and Charge Of The Tornadoes (some of the recordings were engineered by music genius Frank Zappa). Crossfire has released the Neonfire CD featuring Candy Zappa (Frank’s little sister), Nolan Porter, Napoleon Murphy Brock (Zappa vocalist extraordinaire) and Andre Cholmondeley (of Project Object) amongst others. Super violinist Joe Deninzon is also featured on one track. The adventurous label also offers Yardbirds – Reunion Jam , fifteen live recordings from the legendary British ensemble’s reunion shows in December 1991 and March 1992. Also available is From Rock ‘n’ Roll To R&B, an extremely rare edition CD that was available only from the Museum of Richmond in the UK. The CD showcases performances by The Bruvvers, The Downliners Sect, Tom Nolan Blues Trio and four exclusive tracks from the Yardbirds concert on October 15, 1998.

In the works: Crossfire Records has an exciting release schedule for 2007, which includes ex-Zappa frontman Bob Harris’s The Great Nostalgia from 1986, which features guest performances by guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Nolan Porter has two upcoming Crossfire releases No Apologies and Nolan (containing the Northern soul classics “If I Could Only Be Sure” and “Keep On Keeping On” – these have been in great demand in British clubs for years), whilst sister of music icon Frank Zappa, Candy Zappa’s future Crossfire CD is entitled My Brother Was A Mother. Also in the can, I Believe In Music: The History Of The Gross Prophet. The Gross Prophet was formed by Gerald Sanders of The Tornadoes in 1970 after the surf legends disbanded. The Gross Prophet featured many musicians throughout its 23-year career, like Tornadoes members Jesse Sanders, Leonard Delaney and George White, Wayne Charvel (creator of Charvel guitars), the late Jack Sessums (well-known special effects master for film and TV), Genteels drummer Carl Hubert, and Truants keyboardist/vocalist Dick Zeiner. Twenty-three unreleased tracks by The Gross Prophet join super rarities by The Genteels, The Tornadoes, The Truants, Never So Few, The Insects, Gerald Sanders, Jon &The Nightriders, Mike Methane and the Blue Flames and Sand to create a two-disc extravaganza that surf and garage fans cannot miss. Also in the works: Jon &The Nightriders Stampede. This is the first CD release of these 1986 recordings featuring retro surf guitar master John Blair. Jon &The Nightriders carried the torch of surf music during its quiet period during the 1970s and 1980s, and no one did surf instrumentals better. Stampede includes many fine sax contributions from Tornadoes member George White, making it essential. Finally, soon to be available from Crossfire, the legendary Paul Buff’s PAL Studio recordings with Frank Zappa and many others – seven releases in all!

Progressive Rock Legends Starcastle Take To The Skies With New CD Release

Progressive Rock is alive and well and living at California-based label ProgRock Records with the release of the new Starcastle CD Song Of Times . It’s the band’s first new release in over two decades making this an even more historic event! Formed in Champaign, IL in the late 1960s. Starcastle released four critically acclaimed albums between 1976 and 1978 on CBS/Epic Records which sold over a million units combined. The band toured extensively into the 1980s, appearing with such artists as Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Roxy Music, Ted Nugent, Rush, Kansas, ELO, Peter Frampton, Santana, Boston, and Todd Rundgren, amongst many others. Now signed to ProgRock Records , who’s name says it all about the label’s roster of tremendous ‘progressive’ talent, the band prepares to take to the skies with their new release! Starcastle’s new CD Song Of Times, which dons stunning artwork by Ed Unitsky, is quite possibly their best work yet!

“What an honor and thrill it is to be able to put out this album”, proudly claims ProgRock President Shawn Gordon . “I loved these guys when they hit the scene, never in my life did I think I’d get to work with them, especially with such an amazing album!” The CD includes contributions from original members Gary Strater, Terry Luttrell, Steve Tassler, Herb Schildt, Matt Stewart and Steve Hagler, as well as new faces Al Lewis, Bruce Botts, John O’Hara, Neal Robinson, Mark Mcgee, Jeff Koehnke and Scott McKensie.

“Starcastle is thrilled to join with ProgRock Records in the release of our new work” says the band. “We see this record as bridging our past and future, and are happy to be aligned with ProgRock, who represent so many fine and vital artists in this continually unfolding genre.” With original and new band members joined together, Starcastle are anticipating another run of mega-success. Songs like “Babylon ” are sure to put a smile on any radio program director’s face, with its catchy melody, commercial song structure and stunning vocalizations by new band member Al Lewis.

Through a series of adventures and the passing in 2004 of bassist and driving light Gary Strater, a dedicated group of friends, musicians and associates have persevered to complete and release Song Of Times. In support of Starcastle’s new masterwork, the band will be headlining a one-off gig on April 27, 2007 at the Rites Of Spring Festival in Phoenixville, PA. In an interesting twist, after so many years of comparisons with rock superstars Yes, Rick Wakeman’s son Oliver, who also has a release on ProgRock Records entitled Mothers Ruin, will accompany Starcastle on keyboards for this live event!

Amongst the hoopla surrounding the new Starcastle CD comes more adventurous releases from ProgRock Records, such as the solo album from Henning Pauly entitled Babysteps. The CD includes guest appearances by Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie, as well as Jody Ashworth of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and both Michael Sadler and Jim Gilmour of Canadian muli-platinum selling, hard rock legends Saga. ProgRock Records has previously released solo albums from Michael Sadler Clear and Jim Gilmour Great Escape.

Henning Pauly has also released two other albums with ProgRock Records under the guise Frameshift. The first CD Unweaving The Rainbow also features James Labrie, whilst the second release An Absence Of Empathy boasts performances by ex-Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach.

ProgRock Records is proud to announce the historic release of the third Planet P Project CD called 1931, featuring original Rainbow keyboardist Tony Carey. The first two Planet P Project albums contained several radio and video hits including “Why Me” and “Power Tools”. Tony Carey has over 30 albums to his credit, and as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist has worked with some of the biggest names in the business. “I’m delighted to have found a new platform to deliver my admittedly esoteric stuff,” boasts Carey, “and I’m excited to be working with Shawn and ProgRock Records!”

After being out of print for more than a decade, the two studio albums from all-star band the Traveling Wilburys will return to the marketplace in a variety of formats June 12 via Wilbury Records/Rhino, has learned.

“Traveling Wilburys Volume 1” and “Traveling Wilburys Volume 3” will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle. The DVD boasts a 24-minute documentary and five music videos.

The Wilburys formed in 1988 after Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison assembled at a California studio to record a B-side for the Harrison single “This Is Love.”

The resulting song, “Handle With Care,” was instead released under the Wilburys name, with the artists posing as a band of brothers. It went on to reach No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the “Volume 1” album hit No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The reissued version of the album includes the previously unreleased tracks “Maxine” and “Like a Ship.”

Orbison died in late 1988 before a second album could be completed; it was eventually released as “Volume 3” in 1990. The set is expanded here with the B-side “Runaway” and “Nobody’s Child,” which was released on a benefit album for Romanian orphans.

With producer Simon Hanhart (Bryan Adams, Asia, 21 Guns, Yngwie Malmsteen, Marillion) the band recorded CRUISIN’ FOR A BRUISIN’ in 1988, which features the ultra-catchy “Lovers” (released as a single plus videoclip in 1988) and a new version of “Love on the Rox” from the band’s debut.

During the late ‘90s, Massachusetts saw many up-and-coming local rock acts rocket up the charts to stardom.  Ten years later, it appears as though the region is readying for another uprising of hard rock acts – including the leaders of the pack, Till We Die.

“I haven’t seen a young band draw crowds like they do at their shows since the early days of  Godsmack back at the Brewhouse in Haverhill, MA, ten years ago before they were  signed,” says head of Screaming Ferret Wreckords, Tim Koukos.
“These guys command the same kind of energy and presence as Godsmack did back then.”  Formed in 2004 by singer Matt Ingham and guitarist Joe Demarco, the duo soon enlisted the rhythm section of bassist Mike Laroache and drummer Dave Stewart.  With a sound that manages to touch upon both Tool’s prog explorations and melodic rock, the  quartet began playing out live, and immediately began turning heads – leading to  opening gigs for such renowned acts as RA, Lacuna Coil, Staind, Tantric,  Sevendust, Drowning Pool, and Powerman 5000, among others.  Additionally, Till We Die has played countless shows up and down the east coast, and was offered to support a 40-date Jagermeister tour in October of 2005, where they played with Scum of the Earth.

Due to their earlier successful opening spot for RA, the group has since invited the then-still-unsigned band on several tours of other parts of the country.  Joe DeMarco & Dave Stewart add, “It has been a long road to get were we are now, and hard to express the excitement of everything that’s going on and happening all around us at this point. We feel this new material that we’ve recorded is some of our best work to date! We’re looking forward to unveiling it to the masses.”
Their live performance is what they have built their reputation on and are always giving fans a dynamic and intense set, and after recently signing to Screaming Ferret (distributed by Fontana), Till We Die has succeeded in translating their live experience to the studio.
The group’s full-length debut, ‘Pressing On,’ will be released on Tuesday, June 19th, and will be followed by a CD release show at the Avalon in Boston, Saturday June 23rd.
The confirmed details for the release party are outlined below.

A worthy follow-up to 2006’s Crystal Vision, Eric Gale’s new album “The Psychedelic Underground” [Blues Bureau Records] affirms Gales as one of the rare musical talents of his generation. This left-handed guitarist of extraordinary ability and expressive vocals is a natural for people to compare to Hendrix. Gales has developed a unique hybrid blues/rock sound that also draws upon influences as diverse as Albert King and Eric Johnson. A unique blending of styles, Eric Gales stands head and shoulders among other guitarists in his genre.

Eric Gales grew up in a musical family with four brothers, two of them who learned to play the guitar upside down and left handed in the same fashion that Eric does. Eric’s brother Eugene Gales played bass in the Eric Gales Band and his brother Jimmy King had a thriving career as a blues artist before his untimely death. Eric released his first record at Age 16 for Elektra records to an amazing response from the media and music fans around the globe. Guitar World Magazine’s Reader’s Poll named Eric as “Best New Talent,” in 1991. After recording a second record for Elektra, all three brothers teamed up for “The Gales Bros. Left Hand Band” which was recorded for the House of Blues label in 1996. Through the years, it would not be unusual to look out in the audience and see artists like Carlos Santana, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, B. B. King, and Eric Clapton, looking on with interest as Eric took his God-given talent and worked crowd after crowd into a frenzy.

The new Millennium presented new opportunities for Eric and he was signed to a deal with Nightbird Records which was affiliated with Jimi Hendrix’s sister Janie Hendrix and Experience Hendrix, L. L. C. and distributed through MCA/Universal. Under this deal, Eric recorded the critically acclaimed record “That’s What I Am” in 1991 and hit the road, mesmerizing fans around the world with his uncanny connection to his guitar. In 2004 Eric Gales made headline music news when he was chosen to perform with Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, Jerry Cantrell and others on the Experience Hendrix tour to honor the late, great, Jimi Hendrix.

Eric’s masterful guitar and vocal performances on “The Psychedelic Underground” portend a great response from these loyal music lovers as guitarists of this quality and intensity are few and far between.

Frontiers news

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of the TWO OF A KIND self titled debut album on May the 11th, 2007
Anticipated by a very good response from the fans from the exclusive preview of the song “Light in the Dark” presented on the Frontiers Records myspace website, TWO OF A KIND debut album is a bold statement from Dutch producer, songwriter and artist Fred Hendrix, well known to the Melodic Rock fans for his work with TERRA NOVA.
TWO OF A KIND features in the line-up Fred together with his brother Ron on keyboards and not one, but two female singers: Esther Brouns and Anita Craenmehr. Completing the lineup are Gesuino Derosas (also from TERRA NOVA) on guitar and Hans in’t Zandt on drums.
“The concept was to create a melodic album with two female singers. There are not that many female singers in melodic rock, so I thought this would spice up the scene a little bit. The bands core are the two female singers Esther and Anita” explains Fred, adding “I have been knowing Anita for quite some time while I found Esther  by scouting”.
After a few writing sessions, Fred submitted the plan for his new band with a great melodic rock edge in BOSTON meets HEART style to Frontiers Records, who immediately loved the material and signed the band.
“For me personally it has always been a desire to write and produce for others and this was the right opportunity. And I think this band can have real nice future” concludes Fred Hendrix.
Tracklisting of the album includes the following songs:
Light in the Dark; The Longest Night; Little by Little; Give Me a Reason; Heaven Can Wait; Unbearable; Into the Fire; In Your Arms; Whole Again; To The Top; I Die a Little More Everyday.
TWO OF A KIND is now a ready to unleash their powerful dose of Melodic Rock on the fans and are ready to rock Europe with tour dates planned for spring and the summer.
Release date is settled on Frontiers Records in Europe on May 11th, with a Japanese release scheduled on King Records.

Terry Brock and Danny Vaughn met at the Lokersee Festival in Belgium, 2004 when they appeared for the band “The Sign”. They immediately “clicked” and consequently started talking about doing shows together in the future.
This story has led them to a 14 shows tour that will take place in March and April in Finland starting on March the 23rd.

The two artists will be performing Terry Brock songs from STRANGEWAYS, KANSAS, his solo recording and the new SLAMER cd “Nowhere Land” as well as Danny Vaughn songs from the VAUGHN albums, the new “Traveller” cd and, of course, TYKETTO.
The backing band playing together with Danny and Terry, features Patrick Luoti on guitar, Toni Paanen on drums and Marco Seppala on bass.
Most of these shows will be billed as the “Winter Rock Fest” with the Finnish band ROGUE ANGEL supporting the two artists on all the dates as well as a local band from each town to open up. Completing this travelling circus atmosphere, there will be a travelling tattoo artist from MASTER TATTOO at every show and he will be promoting his tattoo and piercing artwork and studio.
Here are the dates so far:
More news as soon as they become available.
Upon his return home, Terry Brock will re-start the work on his solo album which he has been producing together with Mike Slamer. Terry says “We wrote some KILLER stuff together!!!! This album will be a monster”.

Frontiers Records were very saddened to learn about Brad Delp’s passing. Needless to say, he was a real inspiration for the work and the life of everyone of us and we would like to express our deepest condolences to his family, the band, the fans and everyone else who will sincerely miss him. May he Rest In Peace.

Death of rock singer Brad Delp is ruled a suicide

The death of Brad Delp, the singer for the 1970s rock band Boston, was a suicide, police said yesterday.

Delp’s family confirmed the suicide at his Atkinson home on Friday.

Toxicology tests by the state medical examiner’s office showed that Delp committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning, said Lieutenant William Baldwin. Delp left two notes taped to a door and letters to his family and his fiancee, Pamela Sullivan. Baldwin said police do not know the letters’ contents because they were sealed.

Delp, 55, was a native of Danvers, Mass. He had planned to marry Sullivan this summer during a tour with Boston. Delp, a lifelong Beatles fan, also played with Beatles tribute band Beatlejuice.

“He was a man who gave all he had to give to everyone around him, whether family, friends, fans, or strangers,” the family statement said. “He gave as long as he could, as best he could, and he was very tired. We take comfort in knowing that he is now, at last, at peace.”

Agent Troy Blakely said he had not been in touch with Delp recently, but believed Delp had been looking forward to getting married and touring again. “There was no indication of anything amiss,” he said. In his 34 years of representing artists, Blakely said he never met a kinder man.

The family’s statement said Sullivan, Delp’s children, and their mother, his former wife Micki Delp, were grateful for the sympathy they had received and asked that their privacy be respected.

The funeral will be private, with a public memorial service at a later date.

Lead singer of the band BOSTON dies
Brad Delp, the lead singer for the band Boston, was found dead Friday in his home in southern New Hampshire. He was 55.

Atkinson police responded to a call for help at 1:20 p.m. and found Delp dead. Lt. William Baldwin said in a news release that there was no indication of foul play.

“There was nothing disrupted in the house. He was a fairly healthy person from what we’re able to ascertain,” Police Chief Philip Consentino told WMUR-TV.

Delp apparently was alone at the time, Baldwin said.

The cause of death remained under investigation. Police said an incident report would not be available until Monday.

Delp sang on Boston’s 1976 hits “More than a Feeling” and “Long Time.” He also sang on Boston’s most recent album, “Corporate America,” released in 2002.

He joined the band in the early 1970s after meeting Tom Scholz, an MIT student interested in experimental methods of recording music, according to the group’s official Web site. The band enjoyed its greatest success and influence during its first decade.

The band’s last appearance was in November 2006 at Boston’s Symphony Hall.

On Friday night, the Web site was taken down and replaced with the statement: “We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll.”

A call to the Swampscott, Mass., home of Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau was not immediately returned Friday night.

Uk pop-punk band Buck Brothers broke the Guinness Book of World Records on March 5, 2007 for playing 28 concerts in 10 ½ hours around London.  A mere three days later they will cross the Atlantic for a Canadian tour that kicks off during Canadian Music Week in Toronto on March 10th.

The famed Leicester Square in central London was the spot for the bands first and last gig on Monday with stops in Camden, Soho and Islington.  Kansas City, a German group held the record with 26 concerts in 12 hours in Hamburg in 2004.  The Bucks planned 30 shows and managed to hit 28 venues to break the record.

“This record attempt has really just been a dress rehearsal for our Canadian tour,” says Andy Duke. “Having heard reports about petrol shortages and the deep freeze that are taking place in Ontario and Quebec at the moment, we thought that a massive ‘gig-a-thon’ would be the best way to ensure that we’re in tip top shape for our forthcoming two week Canadian tour. The fact that we achieved a world record while doing so is a bonus.”

“We succeeded in the face of adversity. Whatever could go wrong did,” continues Duke. “A rented PA system ceased working by the second gig, one of the two vans broke down entirely and a member of our support crew, one of the drivers, was struck down with food poisoning. Despite all of these things, we soldiered on and our success is really a testament to the great teamwork of our band, crew and supporters. Receiving text messages from fans throughout the day, from all around the world including Canada, really turbo-charged our resolve to beat the record.”

London is one of the few places where attempting to beat the world record is possible because of the close proximity of so many venues. Fans and volunteer roadies helped carry and set up equipment around London from 11am until 11pm.  An independent adjudicator was in attendance for all 28 gigs gathering evidence in support of the Guinness Book of World Records attempt.  “It was a real challenge. But we did it. I’m delighted, it’s fantastic.”

Buck Brothers debut album Me was released to stores across Canada on February 27 on the Fading Ways Collective and Scratch.

The event is held at the Colonial Theater, 227 Bridge Street, Phoenixville, PA. Don Schiff appears live with Rocket Scientists with the gracious support of Stick Enterprises.
ABOUT STICK ENTERPRISES:  This California Stick manufacturing and marketing corporation was founded by musician/inventor Emmett Chapman, creator of the legendary Chapman Stick as well as the more recent NS/Stick, a design collaboration between Emmett and Ned Steinberger.  Emmett discovered and created the unique “Stick” two-handed tapping method on his 9-string guitar in 1969.  It was a totally new way of playing on strings – fingers of both hands aligned parallel to the frets and to each other, each hand approaching the fretboard from opposite sides.  This technique has now been in use for nearly 40 years by Stick players and also by those tapping guitarists and bassists who align both hands at right angles to the neck and strings.  Don became one of Emmett’s first students in 1975 and quickly rose to band performance level on  Stick from a professional bass player’s perspective.  The student then began to inspire the teacher to new heights as Don applied his funky left-hand bass rhythm concepts to Emmett’s powerful tapping technique. ROCKET SCIENTISTS was formed in the late 1980s by keyboardist Erik Norlander and vocalist / guitarist Mark McCrite. The two released their first CD Earthbound in 1993 joined by then – session bassist Don Schiff. Schiff quickly became a part of the band for their second release in 1995 Brutal Architecture, and the three toured in the US and Europe in 1997 along with drummer Tommy Amato culminating in the live CD Earth Below and Sky Above: Live in Europe and America. In 1999, Rocket Scientists released Oblivion Days, raising the bar on already high expectations. At the turn of the century, Norlander, Schiff and McCrite all worked on solo projects in addition to backing symphonic rock vocal icon Lana Lane on several tours around the world. The latest release is the band’s fourth studio album Revolution Road, a double CD released in the fall of 2006, their strongest and most successful title to date.

LANA LANE is an accomplished rock vocalist with a long history of albums and tours. Lana began touring in Japan in 1998 to support Garden of the Moon and the subsequent Ballad Collection and Queen of the Ocean releases. She then expanded her touring efforts to Europe in 2001 to support Secrets of Astrology with additional tours in 2003 and 2004. Lana has been dubbed as “The Queen of Symphonic Rock” by her fans and the press, and yet she remains a very versatile artist able to move from intimate jazz pieces to bone crushing progressive metal. But in the end it is Lana’s love of melody and artistry that reigns over all. Lana is a dedicated artist who approaches her craft with grace and integrity. She celebrated the 10 year anniversary of her first album in 2005 with the stunning concept album, Lady Macbeth, and has recently released a live DVD of her 10th Anniversary Concert Tour. Lana’s newest release is Gemini, an album of classic rock covers recorded with an all-star band.

Los Angeles-based rock band, Generation Beautiful, possesses a sound that seems tailor-made for modern day radio, as evidenced by any number of tracks from their self-titled live debut album, on Interline Records. The band was formed when Beautiful Creatures guitarist Anthony Focx began writing music with female singer Shelby Goff.  As the project progressed, lead guitarist Fred Nilsson, drummer Jerry Vidal, and bassist Jamie Zimlin came aboard with their own, unique musical backgrounds to complete the dynamic quintet.

The upcoming eight-song release is sure to please any rock fan.  Generation Beautiful’s music combines heartfelt ballads (“Father”, “Freedom”) with harder hitting rock songs (“Everything”, “This Is Me”, and “Rowdy”).  The album was recorded live on stage in front of a high-energy audience, and it faithfully captures the excitement of Generation Beautiful live.

Generation Beautiful – Live was mixed by Focx, whose other production work consists of projects such as Beautiful Creatures’ Deuce, Aerosmith’s recent remake of “Back in the Saddle” for NASCAR on ESPN, Cinder Road’s new album on EMI, and also has worked on the Katherine McPhee track “Home”.

The multi-talented Focx has certainly met his musical match with Goff, whose vocal style encompasses raw aggressive strength yet is soulful at the same time. A dynamic live performer, Goff was nominated for “Female Vocalist of the Year” and won the award for “Rock Single of the Year” at the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards. As a result, the singer is considered by many to be one of the most promising and upcoming women in rock today.

In addition to playing traditional Southern California rock venues, Generation Beautiful has also taken a unique route towards perfecting their music and stage act.  They have performed for the troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Balkans, and Eastern Europe. As a result the group has received a number of accolades including a write up in the largest international military newspaper Stars and Stripes.

Generation Beautiful – Live will be released April 6, 2007 exclusively in all the major online music stores, including iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody.  The band plans to follow up with a full-length studio record due out Summer 2007.  In August 2007 they will embark on yet another tour, this time for the troops in Korea and Japan, to be followed by a US tour.

With overwhelming Canadian fan support, UK pop punkers are making their 3rd trip to Canada. But first on March 5, 2007 the Buck Brothers will attempt to create a World Record. In the band’s native London, England, the band will attempt to play 30 shows in a 12 hour period (11 am – 11 pm) with a view to achieving an illustrious entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.  Buck Brothers Me was released to stores across Canada on February 27 followed by a regional Ontario and Quebec tour that includes Canadian Music Week.

What Canadian Press Is Saying:

“With loads of eye make-up, stage spinning and jumping, witty banter and endless energy, The Buck Brothers herded everyone inside the Rancho Relaxo onto the dance floor or at least up from their seats.” – Phil Villeneuve, Chartattack

“Me is 1979, no update, no joke, just a big bazooka made to blow away the pompous art-school punk that’s brutalising the airwaves in 2007.” – Tangible Sounds, Kid Lupin

“From songs like ‘Mannish Girl’ to ‘Yes No Stay Go Do Don’t Will Won’t’ each song is simple, catchy and crafted with confidence; this new disc carries twelve of these gems…..They carry the simplicity of Cake, but supercharged with energy, and its awesome.” – The Newspaper, Joe Zabukovec

“Catchy, punk rock, art-punk, pop at its best, every track is clever and simple, but not simplistic by any means.” – Lipstik Indie Reviews

“This UK Power Pop trio really knows how to rock…Songs like “Mannish Girl” and “Girls, Skirts, Boots, Bikes” are another couple of great stand outs on the disc….A fantastic disc if you like catchy, fun music.” – Metal Rules, Celtic Bob

“Straight from the streets of London, England, Buck Brothers will restore your faith in DIY rock and roll.” – Spill Magazine, Jason Sandham

Needle And The Pain Reaction at CMW

Since performing their speedy, hook-filled rock at Canadian Music Week 2006 supporting guitar legend Chris Spedding, the Belgium rockers, Needle and the Pain Reaction, have been invited back to perform at the Global Village Backpackers on March 9, for CMW 2007.  Needle and the Pain Reaction combine loud guitars with emotional songs in the tradition of bands like Pavement, The Jesus Lizard and Arctic Monkeys.  They play as a unit and let the energy explode on stage, putting their rock image in a low profile perspective.

“Standard trio playing speedy, hook-filled rock. These guys were on.  Songs, Sound and Haircut: EXCELLENT!” – Caitlin Hotchkiss,

“This Belgian power-pop trio reminds one of Seattle’s under-appreciated Flop, or Better Than Ezra. Combining pop sensibilities with brilliant vocal harmonies (the drummer can actually sing!) with simple, almost chantable, choruses, stunning guitar work, and a bass-heavy rock groove, Needle & The Pain Reaction forces one to rethink the indie pop formula.” – Jeremy Shum, Tangible Sounds

March 7, 2007 – 10pm, Spin Gallery, Toronto, ON

March 9, 2007 – 10.30 pm, Global Village Backpackers, Toronto, ON CMW

CMW Finnish Moosic Tour Party

Friday March 9th, 9:45pm, 22-Pistepirkko, The Drake – Get ready for one of Scanadavia’s most eccentric and evocative pop-rock acts.22-Pistepirkko will be at this year’s Canadian Music Week for the Music Export Finland Showcase. 22-Pistepirkko’s sound has been described as luminous, surreal, guitar-based electro-pop and proto-garage-psychedelia blended with elements of acoustic folk and spaced-out bohemian blues-rock. The band borrows elements of American-English pop, then jumbles, rearranges and reconfigures those elements for a sound that’s all their own.

“They  delight  in the English-as–a second-language lyrics that collide words as recklessly as Dylan at his drug-fuelled mid-60s peak” (Sunday Times, from Eleven review)

”22-Pistepirkko are like The Clinic in a prescription-only fog, The Kinks in keyboard overload, Primal Scream woozy on moonshine and maracas, a lo-fi Pet Shop Boys whose disco ball has escaped earth orbit, and T. Rex savant Marc Bolan, who 22-P vocalist PK is often compared to. 22-Pistepirkko are slightly weird, slightly childish, slightly psychedelic, slightly awkward, slightly rockin’, but mostly epic, genius, and supremely Finnish.” (Parasol,US)

“This is so decidedly odd and quirky that it just refuses to be ignored.  There’s an unpredictible quality and a trancey feel to this bunch of Finns that makes us think of Eels mating with Trio Bulgarkas, and the vocal is sufficiently androgynous to recall Placebo. (The Tipsheet, UK on “Onion Soup”)

“Remember how the Violent Femmes sounded at first, how they sounded outside society and yet made absurd sense of American ethnic and pop educations and sensations? Now imagine the true pop psychosis of 13th Floor Elevators/Seeds, filtered through glam-rock, bubblegum (Ohio Express, 1910 Fruitgum Company, seriously) and two-in-the-morning R&B barroom friction, with luminescent slide guitar/organ duelsand link Wray rockabilly twang’n’ambience, driven to the edge of excess. PHEW!”

The songs on Emily Weedon & Delta’s debut EP All Out In The Open are most often songs about loss and heartbreak, however, whichever way you cut it, Weedon jokes that the songs are almost all about not gettin’ laid.  The five song debut EP will be released with a CD release party in Toronto at the Cameron House on April 11, 2007.

Since forming her band Delta in 2005, Weedon has been writing hooky, unforgettable material at a brisk pace, turning out over 20 songs and overwhelmingly they are love songs of the unrequited variety.  Weedon originally formed the band to answer the question, what would happen if you crossed Keane with The Band? But the sound that developed behind her high lonesome voice quickly galvanized into an alt-country roots rock sound that has widely been compared to Dolly Parton.

A labour of love and sheer tenacity, the entirely self produced work All Out In The Open features five songs recorded at the Pocket Studios with producer Stuart Cameron (Shaye, Ashley MacIsaac, Crash Test Dummies).  The title track was a co-write between Weedon and Gord Light has been featured on the internationally syndicated TV series Slings and Arrows.

“Clark St”,  known as “The” song about not getting laid and a favourite at the band’s Cameron House residency with its tongue in cheek lyrics and shoot from the hip melody, started life around 4am at a Pop Montreal party at the house of Tricky Woo and was included in the wildly popular reality TV series Diva On A Dime.

“Stainless Steel” has crisp spare piano riffs that craft a chilly portrait about a divorcé’s emotional bankruptcy. “Rose Island Road” is an uplifting guitar driven rootsy piece dedicated to Weedon’s rural roots in Coe Hill, Ontario, where she grew up among hippies, draft dodgers and gospel church attendees. “On His Sleeve” is a Tom Waits inspired, heartbreaking piano waltz that is a composite portrait of “the men in my life who drink too much, who I love,” says Weedon.

CD Release Party:

April 11, 2007 at the bands “homestead” The Cameron House, Front Room, 408 Queen St. West.

A special acoustic all ages matinée performance at 5pm and a licensed show at 10pm.

“Delta is going places. The new chick-pop/alt-country rock band, fronted by local singer/songwriter Emily Weedon, has captured the pulse of roots music. In my opinion they should receive a hardy congrats…. Weedon’s evocative lyrics, peppered with her piano and producer Stuart Cameron’s rainbow of guitars has created a Canadian country masterpiece.” – Jennifer Bills, 24Hours Magazine

“With songs about trains, drinking and sex powered by frontwoman Emily Weedon’s high, lonesome chirp, Delta delivered an energetic opening set that got the crowd up and ready”  – Frank Yang, Chromewaves

“If you like Lucinda Williams, you will definitely enjoy Delta’s music. Keep an eye out, a heart open and your ears perked for this group that is on its way to stardom.” – Lindsay Pinto, Excalibur

NIGHT RANGER Prepare new disc

Frontiers Records is thrilled to announce all details surrounding the release on April 20th 2007 of NIGHT RANGER’s come back album “Hole In The Sun”.

Like no other band formed in the ’80s, NIGHT RANGER has both epitomized and transcended the sound and style of that decade. Since original members Jack Blades, Brad Gillis, Kelly Keagy and Jeff Watson reunited in 1996, they have brought their guitar-crunching, melodic brand of hard rock into the 21st century with unparalleled talent, energy and creativity. Rounding out the line-up on keyboards is GREAT WHITE’s Michael Lardie.

“Hole in the Sun” the brand new studio album, breaks a 9 years silence and is the culmination of the band’s work so far. From the guitar attack of the opener “Tell Your Vision”, to the grandeur of a power ballad like “There Is Life”, going through straight ahead rock numbers like “Drama Queen” or the title track and with incredible melodic cuts like “Whatever Happened”, NIGHT RANGER’s new album has everything the fans could ask for.

“It is one of the hardest rocking albums that NIGHT RANGER has ever put out” says band’s singer and bass player Jack Blades, “I think it rivals Dawn Patrol for just sheer hard rocking…… just straight ahead  American rocking. That’s what it sounds like to me.”

“Hole In The Sun” draws on the band’s classic sound, mixed with a more contemporary style and totally in your face production. According to Blades: “NIGHT RANGER is dual lead guitars, dual lead vocalists, anthemic choruses, big ballads and I think that’s what this record is. Describe Night Ranger and you describe this album.”

Drummer / singer Kelly Keagy adds: “We wanted to see if we could turn some heads. We wanted to push some boundaries, and Whatever Happened sounds like it could be on radio. I think “Don’t Tell me You Love Me” is like Tell Your Vision, except 20 years later. And There Is Life was such a great song to write. We wanted to write another piano ballad like Sister Christian or Sentimental Street.”

Final tracklisting on “Hole In The Sun” includes:

Tell Your Vision; Drama Queen; You’re Gonna Hear It From Me; Whatever Happened; There Is Life; Rock Star; Hole In The Sun; Fool In Me; White Knuckle Ride; Revelation 4 AM; Wrap It Up; Being.

Marc Ford, who has sold millions of albums worldwide and played in front of more than 50 million people across the globe, will impact the airwaves with his first solo album Weary and Wired March 13th [Blues Bureau Records]. Weary and Wired features Ford on guitars & vocals, Mark “Muddy”Dutton on bass and Doni Gray on drums.

Former Black Crowe’s blues-guitar guru has delivered an extraordinary album full of Classic Rock-soaked riffs, bluesy based crunch with Southern Rock twang.  “My influences go way beyond as I do not play nor do I listen to rock,” explains Ford. “What influences my playing is folk, blues, jazz, gospel, country, reggae and the list goes on…” Weary and Wired is a significant recording showing Ford’s strength as a singer/songwriter, fueled by large doses of his phenomenal guitar work that brings to mind such masters as Clapton, Hendrix and Beck.

Ford’s first record was with CBS’ renowned retro blues rockers Burning Tree in the late 1980’s. Burning Tree’s self-titled debut album was a much-heralded debut among guitar aficionados and led to Ford being asked to join The Black Crowes.

Ford put his stylized guitar stamp on the Black Crowes’ second record “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion,” which went to number one on the Billboard charts, eventually going double platinum. Ford continued recording and touring with the band through their next two releases, 1994’s “Amorica” and 1996’s  “Three Snakes and OneCharm” as well as making two additional records with the band, “Tall” and “band” which were recorded in the 90’s and were previously unreleased until 2006. In 2002 Marc had self released his first solo record “It’s About Time.”  The album was never officially released but by Marcs personal efforts as well as Amazon and iTunes. He still plays the music live as many have said this to be one of their favorites.

In 2006 Ford put out a press release announcing that he had left the Crowes in order to protect his hard fought sobriety and that he had recently produced albums for emerging artists The Pawnshop Kings and Ryan Bingham.

Shortly after this announcement Ford reunited with his Burning Tree bandmates for three gigs at The king king in Hollywood, CA. Following the impromptu dates, Ford enlisted Doni Gray to be his bandmate, along with Muddy and son Elijah Ford, for his new studio album Weary and Wired. “This album is special,” explains Ford. “Burning Tree was my first signed band. We played for years when we were really young. We started in garage, got a deal and toured. This is the first time we’ve played together in 17 years – it felt natural and flowed.”
Weary and Wired is in store March 13th – For more information on go to or

KGC (Konietzko, Garcia, Cifarelli) is the brain child of three of the most trail-blazing underground artists around: Dean Garcia the musical genius behind CURVE, known for his monolith guitars and layered production style, that envelope the listener with its tsunami of instrumentation, Sascha Konietzko of KMFDM, whose innovative and unorthodox approach toward production have garnered him with international acclaim as one of the foremost pioneers of industrial/ultra heavy beat and Lucia Cifarelli of KMFDM and DRILL, whose vocal and lyrical talents go from provocative to menacing in the beat of a rivet-head lovelorn heart. The three met by chance through a mutual fan. However unlikely it sounds, that was the beginning of a year-long, trans-Atlantic session swap that spawned their debut album, Dirty Bomb (KMFDM Records, 2006). This collaboration of alternative music giants was composed via the web, by trading files back and forth between London and Seattle. The music they birthed pushing sounds over the ether took on a life and presence of its own. The three have created a haunting, twisted landscape of sound that is hypnotic, aggressive and surreal. A maelstrom of emotions laced with the underbelly of the anti-hero. With their mutual affinity of all things odd, the album marries their individual influences and births a truly unique love child that draws you in with cinematic splendor, where the ever present momentum of guitars and electronics push harder and deeper, luring the listener further and further into their strange world of darkness. KMFDM Records is proud to announce the release of KGC’s Dirty Bomb avaliable exclusively online from the KMFDM Store at and on iTunes worldwide April 20th, 2007.
