Lava/Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of “COMATOSE,” the much-anticipated new album from Grammy Award-nominated rock outfit, Skillet.  Due in stores on October 3rd, the album features the ascendant new single, “Whispers In The Dark,” which comes in this week as the #2 Most Added track at Active Rock radio outlets nationwide.  The band has also proven an online sensation, with their MySpace page – – drawing more than 100,000 hits in less than two weeks following the posting of a sound clip of a new track from “COMATOSE.”  Skillet will also be featured on a number of upcoming magazine covers, including the November/December issue of HM and the December issue of CCM.

Produced by Brian Howes (known as both a member of Closure and as producer of Hinder’s hit debut) and John Copper (Skillet), and mixed by maestros Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, Hoobastank, Bon Jovi, P.O.D.) and David Bottrill (Tool, Staind), “COMATOSE” marks a stunning new step in the band’s continuing evolution.  Tracks such as “Rebirthing” and “The Last Night” meld big riffs and classic prog-rock flourishes with undeniable choruses and a distinctly modern alternative sensibility.

Along with the album’s remarkable musical strides, vocalist/bassist John Cooper’s songwriting spans a vast range of topical territories, some of which follow socially conscious ideals, while others reflect his own life and personal struggles.  “We’re proud of where we’ve been in the past,” Cooper says, “but I feel like this is our strongest record.  There are so many different influences that it won’t just be about rock audiences or metal audiences.  I think there’s something here for everybody.”

“COMATOSE” follows Skillet’s 2004 label debut, “COLLIDE,” which included the Top 20 Active Rock radio smash, “Savior.”  Fueled by a fervent following – known as “Panheads” – the album proved the band’s national breakthrough, with a prestigious Grammy Award nomination, and sales exceeding 200,000.  Skillet also established themselves as one of the hardest working bands in modern rock, playing more than 200 dates a year, including both headline shows and tour dates with the likes of Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Saliva, and Finger Eleven.

Skillet will herald the release of “COMATOSE” with a series of live dates throughout the fall, including appearances on the annual SHOUTfest tour (see the band’s official website,, for details).  Skillet is:  John Cooper – vocals, bass * Korey Cooper – keyboards * Ben Kasica – guitar * Lori Peters – drums.

CD Release Party October 26th @ The Empress Theatre, Moncton, NB

Eclectic pop rock artist Krista D is a feisty, unique and creative singer/songwriter that is about to release her new album Jane’s World.  With comparisons to early Juliana Hatfield and Veruca Salt, the first single “Extraordinary” has already spent 2 weeks at #1 on CFAI FM charts above bands such as AFI and The Goo Goo Dolls and will be released to Hot AC radio stations nationally in October.
Although Jane’s World is not Krista’s first full length, it is the first album she feels she had total control of.  At 16, Krista’s father discovered her talent for singing and songwriting and believed in her enough to take her to the recording studio for her to record her first album.  In spite of not having any plans of releasing or marketing that album, Krista found her songs getting serious airplay on Moncton’s CKOE 100.9 FM and she became the number one requested artist.

At 24, Krista began producing the follow up album Jane’s World at Pumpk’n Patch Studios in Riverview, NB. She enlisted help from local guitar hero Chris Colepaugh who did most of the guitars on the album and all the bass. Colepaugh even offered help with song structuring and creative direction, most notably on “Penny for your Thoughts.”

Jane’s World includes some fun light hearted love songs like “You and Me” and “Extraordinary,” along with more serious songs like “Black Eyed Susan” and “Nursery Crimes” about domestic and child abuse. “The subject matter may seem dark, but the songs are usually presented in such a way that I’m hoping people can find the situations relatable.” says Krista. “Most importantly I want people to remember that they are not alone.
Now set to tour the east coast in support of Jane’s World, Krista D and her band which includes Phil Acheson on lead guitar, Jeb Dalling on bass and drummer Math Pinet, are excited to get out and perform live. “I simply can’t wait to see how all this unfolds” says Krista, “I feel like I’ve been in the chrysalis stage so long… I’m really anxious to get the album out and tour.  It feels like a new beginning.”

Hank Williams III entices the crowd with legendary performances, “We play 3 styles of music during the live show, country for a hour then the hellbilly sound and then Assjack …  full on Jeckle and Hyde show.”
Influenced by “Whiskey, Weed and Women”, HANK III’s forthcoming album, ‘Straight to Hell’, breaks all the rules of country music while somehow managing to honor its traditions at the same time. This two-CD celebration of drinking too much, staying up too late and getting into all kinds of nefarious mischief will no doubt bring an exultant yee-haw from those intrepid souls who have followed the exploits of this third-generation hell-raiser. The surprise is that Williams concocted his two-CD opus on a Korg D-1600 digital recorder a $400 piece of hardware that liberated the artist from temporal and budget constraints.
Be sure to check him out on his upcoming trek across the states bringing his brand of hillbilly country, fused with metal sound, to a city near you!

Frontiers Records Updates on Forthcoming Releases

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of the long awaited ZION album on December 8th 2006!

ZION is Freddy Curci’s brand new project/band set to bring back his magical voice on an all new material that could resemble the best production of his ALIAS and SHERIFF days.

Freddy Curci is arguably one of the best vocalists in Rock History. He’s got the combination of vocal talents that all singers strive for. He can sing a ballad with a beautiful, smooth voice like Steve Perry of Journey or Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon and then turn around and belt out  rocker with a rough edge on his voice like Brad Delp of Boston.

He started his career in SHERIFF recording a classic album in 1979 and (four years later!) having a number one song in the USA charts, called “When I’m With You”. That song put Freddy into the World Records Book for holding a note for almost 30 seconds!

Hot on the heels of the chart success, Freddy and former SHERIFF bandmate Steve DeMarchi on guitar fromed legendary band ALIAS together with ex HEART members Steve Fossen, Mike Derosier and Roger Fisher. Alias released one album in 1989 for EMI worldwide. That record had two U.S. top ten hits: “More Than Words Can Say” and “Waiting For Love”, which was penned by famed songwriters Brett Walker and Jeff Paris.

In 1994 Freddy Curci debuted as a solo artist with a cd called “Dreamer’s Road” achieving good success in Canada. Six years later a compilation featuring some unreleased songs was unleashed on the market, marking the start of his cooperation with Frontiers Records who released that album in Italy.

Freddy then started his new ZION project which almost took four years to make it to completion “I got really sick for a long time and I couldn’t sing for over a year… But I’m glad to say things are much better now and I am very excited to come back after such a long time! I could not even realize so much time passed. I guess In my mind I never left.. It was the journey I took that that brought me here now. To quote Paul McCartney, It was a long and winding road….”. “Zion is” continues Freddy, “one of those things that if there’s enough demand, I’ll ask the guys if they want to go on the road and tour this record! This would be a fun record to tour… it really rocks!”

Featured on ZION are professional musicians such as Jason Hook (ex BULLET BOYS) and Joey Scoleri on guitars, Paul Marangoni (KIM MITCHELL, THE WORKS, CONEY HATCH) and Joey Greco on drums, Ken Malandrino on bass and Ross Greene on keyboards with the collaboration of Fabrizio Grossi on bass as well. He gathered the best songs from his repertoire written with Steve DeMarchi (Curci’s ALIAS and SHERIFF songwriting partner), Jeff Paris, Marc Ribler and Bob Marlette, among others.

The resulting record simply entitled ZION is everything the ALIAS fans would have wanted to hear from Freddy and more!

Final tracklisting: Only Takes a Minute; How Much Longer Is Forever; One Man Alone; Dangerous; I Am Running Home;  Everybody’s Watching; No Surprise; Sky Is Falling; Devil’s Dance; Who Do You Think You Are; Crash The Mirror.

Keith Richards: Today’s Drugs Are Rubbish

Keith Richards has claimed that he no longer takes drugs – because their quality just isn’t what it used to be.

The surprise revelation comes from the world’s most infamous drug fiend, who was addicted to heroin for most of the 1970s. He told Q Magazine, “I really think the quality’s gone down. All they do is try and take the high out of everything.”

And Richards is not a fan of synthetic party drugs, explaining with teary-eyed nostalgia, “I don’t like the way they’re working on the brain area instead of just through the blood system.”

He went on, “That’s why I don’t take them any more. And you’re talking to a person who knows his drugs.”

Richards did however admit to indulging in the therapeutic benefits of morphine after his recent run in with gravity and a palm tree in Fiji. “I’ve had a couple of weeks on morphine,” he said. “I did try to squeeze the little bit extra out of the night nurse. She was very accommodating.”

Rock legend Robert Plant is backing a fundraising campaign to raise £25,000 in three months to save the life of a Kidderminster mother suffering from a brain tumour.

The former LED ZEPPELIN frontman, who lives near Shatterford, was so moved by the plight of his 41-year-old friend Jackie Jennings that he decided to stage a Christmas concert in the town.

Around 600 fans are expected to pack into the town for the concert at Kidderminster Town Hall on December 23.

He will appear on stage with his latest band the RETURN OF THE HONEYDRIPPERS with all proceeds going towards the fund.

Mrs Jennings, who has a 10-year-old daughter, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2003 and under went surgery in January 2004 to have it removed.

But the tumour returned and doctors say the only treatment now available is a proton beam therapy at a hospital in Boston. The cost is around £100,000 and is believed to offer a cure.

Guns N’Roses singer Axl Rose has been sued by an art broker who claims that Rose reneged on paying for a $2.36 million painting of John Lennon by Andy Warhol. According to the Associated Press, Acquire d’Arte claims in its suit that it negotiated a deal with a New York art gallery to reduce the price of the piece from $2.65 million. But Rose only paid $1.21 million, with his manager and attorney informing the broker that he wouldn’t pay the rest because he didn’t have enough money and “the painting was not worth the price he had agreed to pay.”

The broker is seeking $1.5 million in damages.

Rose’s lawyer, Howard Weitzman, told the Associated Press that his client is “the victim of some fraud or misrepresentation here.”

Guns N’ Roses plays tomorrow night (Saturday, September 23rd) at a radio festival in the Los Angeles area as it continues to add dates to its new North American tour.

Frontiers Records Update:

Frontiers Records is very proud to announce the European release (minus the UK) of the brand new THUNDER album entitled “Robert Johnson’s Tombstone” on November 10th 2006.

Following the release of both “Shooting At The Sun” (2003) and “The Magnificent Seventh” (2005) on the Italian label, the new album is THUNDER’s third with Frontiers. “I think this new LP represents a natural continuation of the last record, it carries on where the last one finished”, said THUNDER singer Danny Bowes. “It was written and recorded in the same way as the last one, with Luke doing the majority of the writing and producing. The only real difference is that it was partly recorded in Spain this time, we locked ourselves away in a house in the hills overlooking the sea, just far enough away from the local nightlife to avoid getting into too much trouble too often. The continuing freedom from outside influences on us and our label means that we’re still completely free to make music we like. We feel a bit like we’re re-defining the sound and style of the band, and it happens a bit more with each record we release”.

When asked to describe the sound that makes up the new record, Bowes said “It’s rootsy and blues based, sexy and dirty, and sad and melancholy in places too. I’m sure Thunder fans will love it, whether they’re young or old (and for some strange reason we seem to be attracting lots of new young fans)”.

European fans shall however have to wait a bit to experience a new stream of the riveting THUNDER shows. “There’ll be no more European shows this year, as we’re already committed to lots of great stuff in the UK up until Christmas” explains Bowes, adding “I’m looking towards a European tour in early 2007, it’ll be great to get out and play the new songs live, they’re really going to work ”.

Tracklisting of the new album is as follows:
Robert Johnson’s Tombstone; Dirty Dream; A Million Faces; Don’t Wanna Talk About Love; The Devil Made Me Do It; Last Man Standing; My Hour of Darkness; Andy Warhol Said; What a Beautiful Day; It’s All About You; Stubborn Kinda Love.

Fireball Ministry, Artimus Pyledriver and Vains of Jenna to kick off six-week nationwide tour sponsored by Hot Topic on Oct. 13
While beer snobs around the world will soon flock to Germany for the country’s annual Octoberfest, the more budget-conscious boozers among us will have an even more intoxicating entertainment option this fall right around the corner at the local rock bar.

On Oct. 13, The Triple Threat Tour – featuring hard rock upstarts Fireball Ministry, Artimus Pyledriver and Vains of Jenna, and sponsored by Hot Topic – will kick off in suburban Denver. Over six subsequent weeks, it will circle the country and showcase three groups who represent the new school of guitar-driven, classic-minded rock n’ roll.

The tour marks L.A. rock warriors Fireball Ministry’s first headlining tour in support of their acclaimed 2005 release, Their Rock Is Not Our Rock (Liquor and Poker/Century Media). The band has already toured North America six times on the campaign with such marquee names as H.I.M., Disturbed, Opeth, CKY and Clutch, in addition to performances alongside such legends as Judas Priest and Alice Cooper. The band’s hit single “Sundown,” which has received regular airplay on MTV2’s “Headbanger’s Ball,” was recently performed live on NBC’s “Last Call With Carson Daly.”

Fresh from touring alongside Devildriver and Bury Your Dead, Atlanta’s Artimus Pyledriver continues to support their self-titled DRT debut. Their heavy Southern rock impressed Kerrang! to the point where the magazine recently called the band “masters of the moonshine-stained riff.” The group, who has previously toured with the likes of Nashville Pussy and Hank III, recently shot a video for their new single “Swamp Devil,” which can be viewed at this link:

Opening the bill is the young Swedish sleaze rock quartet Vains of Jenna, whose debut release Lit Up / Let Down will hit stores on Oct. 24. The album is the first issued by Filthy Note, the new Fontana-distributed imprint recently launched by skateboarding icon Bam Margera. Margera – also of MTV’s Jackass and Viva La Bam fame – himself directed the group’s first music video, “No One’s Gonna Do It For You,” which can be seen now at “This band is so good, I had to start a label just to put their record out,” he says.

Margera plans to make appearances at select stops along the tour trail. For updates, check the tour’s official MySpace page at on a regular basis. (More dates will be confirmed soon.)

Alternative Rock Icons Deliver First-Ever “Best Of” Collection  With Songs From All Five U.S. Releases

Available From Rhino September 19
A band of underground Hollywood lore with a penchant for over-the-top music mixed with big-top showmanship, nothing about Jane’s Addiction was small scale. Having recorded a pair of influential studio albums, the hard-rocking California quartet retired in 1991 after organizing a traveling summer festival-Lollapalooza-for its farewell tour.  A rite of summer for seven years, Lollapalooza was triumphantly resurrected in 2003 for Jane’s Addiction’s reunion tour. Rhino reunites all the best from the band’s past for their first-ever career-spanning compilation. UP FROM THE CATACOMBS: THE BEST OF JANE’S ADDICTION is available September 19 at regular physical and digital retail outlets and at for a
suggested list price of $18.98.

UP FROM THE CATACOMBS brings together 16 enduring songs recorded by the Los Angeles-based quartet-Perry Farrell on vocals, Dave Navarro on guitar, Eric Avery on bass, Stephen Perkins on drums, and featuring two tracks with bassist Chris Chaney, who replaced Avery in 2003. The collection contains music from all five of the band’s domestic albums including their live, self-titled debut (1987); Nothing’s Shocking (1988); Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990); the rarities collection Kettle Whistle (1997) and the band’s much-anticipated reunion, Strays (2003).

Drawing mostly from Jane’s Addiction’s two landmark studio albums-Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual-UP FROM THE CATACOMBS explores the band’s unmistakable dynamic sound with fan favorites “Been Caught Stealing,” “Stop!,” “Ocean Size,” “Summertime Rolls,” “Mountain Song,” “Ain’t No Right,” “Classic Girl,” “Ted, Just Admit It…,” “Pigs In Zen,” “Had A Dad” and “Three Days.”

UP FROM THE CATACOMBS also includes tracks from each of the remaining three albums: “Whores” and “I Would For You” from Jane’s Addiction; a rousing live version of their classic “Jane Says” from Kettle Whistle; and from Strays, their smash comeback single “Just Because” and the theme from HBO’s hit series Entourage, “Superhero.”

Frontiers prepare new Wetton/Downes release

Frontiers Records is pleased to unveil all details of the highly anticipated brand new studio album from JOHN WETTON and GEOFFREY DOWNES – ICON entitled “Rubicon” due for Scandinavian release on November 8.

John Wetton (Asia, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, U.K.) and Geoffrey Downes (Yes, The Buggles) came together for the first time in 1981 when they both joined the super-group ASIA. Their eponymous release was the best selling album in the world in 1982, number 1 in the USA for 9 weeks, turning gold and platinum on every continent. The second and third ASIA albums were also big sellers worldwide and enjoyed several hit singles. Unfortunately, Wetton and Downes went their separate ways in 1985 and since then Asia has been through several incarnations.

Wetton and Downes’ paths crossed again when they graced the same stage together during 2002’s John Wetton fan convention in Philadelphia. Geoff consequently contributed to the writing and playing on Wetton’s 2003 solo album, “Rock of Faith” and it became clear that the two had some unfinished business. During 2004 they finally entered the studio with ideas and energy, sat round the same piano upon which they had written the 1980’s anthems and emerged with the first album of their renewed partnership christened “ICON”.

The recording was easily their best artistic product for many years and immediately became very popular among the fans. John and Geoff have therefore decided to pursue this collaboration, giving birth to a brand new album which follows a very busy year made up of one EP, one acoustic album/DVD and one live album – “Never In A Million Years” – recorded during a series of successful European dates from October 2005 to spring 2006 and due for release on October 20th.

During summer 2006 the two artists followed their new spark of inspiration. In Geoff Downes’ words: “John and I had to face and cross our individual Rubicons during critical moments in our lives when circumstances and fate entangled, obliging us to face defining moments of truth.  Both of us realized that having examined our choices, it resolved to there being no choice at all. These experiences reminded us of an analogous set of  historical circumstances faced by Julius Caesar in 49BC, similar in scope if not in scale, similar in style if not in substance. Inevitably our creative antennae were tweaked. The follow up to Icon should reflect autobiographical experience set against historical scenery”.

With the help of longtime John Wetton collaborators Steve Christey (Jadis) on drums and John Mitchell (Arena, Kino) on guitars and Hugh McDowell (ELO), along with the special appearance of Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering) – who duets on “To Catch a Thief” and “Tears of Joy” – and violin 15-years old prodigy Katie Jacoby, John and Geoff cut the new album, “Rubicon” in the southern England countryside.

The new record will include the following tracks (click links for sound-samples): The Die is Cast; Finger on the Trigger; Reflections (of my life); To Catch a Thief;  Tears of Joy; Shannon; The Hanging Tree; The Glory of Winning; Whirlpool; Rubicon.

The duo is currently touring with a reformed original Asia, together for the first time since 1983! At the moment they are playing sold out shows in the US, and they will hit Europe at the end of November!

Saturday Night Wrist
Maverick Records
October 31st

The long-awaited follow-up to 2003s Deftones is deceptively tuneful
and alarmingly heavy, see-sawing between melancholy reflection and
jaw-clenching frustration like a manic depressive refusing his meds.
Saturday Night Wrist incorporates disparate elements of hard rock,
heavy metal, punk, classic, alternative and electronic music
within its tumultuous grooves. The band also incorporates enough cohesion between the mortar blasts to keep the music cohesive and unified.

Overall, Saturday Night Wrist is experimental and innovative, it
overflows with undeniable hooks, which serve as reminders that
first and foremost, Deftones will always be about strong, emotionally
resonant songs. Todays Deftones have emerged stronger, smarter
and more excited as a result of their experience. The end result of
that is Saturday Night Wrist.

Canada’s CRASH KELLY Again Tapped To Support Alice Cooper

Electric Satisfaction, the new Gilby Clarke-produced release from Toronto’s CRASH KELLY, has secured the band not just a second string of dates with rock icons Alice Cooper, but a third! Joining the tour on Sept. 27, CRASH KELLY will share Alice Cooper’s stage through Oct. 10. The tour includes CRASH KELLY’s first performance in Cleveland since frontman Sean Kelly’s appearance at Guitar Player Magazine’s “Guitar Hero 2005” competition, in which he was a finalist.

In May of this year CRASH KELLY, who covered Alice Cooper’s “Cold Ethyl” on Electric Satisfaction, toured Canada with Alice Cooper, leading to two additional August dates with the legends, including a gig at the Sturgis motorcycle rally. Additionally the band was invited to play a hometown show at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre alongside hair metal superstars Poison and Cinderella. Commenting on performing with Alice Cooper, vocalist / guitarist Sean Kelly had this to say, “playing with Alice Cooper in an arena setting was the culmination of many teenage fantasies, and it really felt like the beginning of the next phase for CRASH KELLY.”

Their fiery follow up to 2005’s “tight, infectious” (Outburn) Penny Pills, “Electric Satisfaction,” says Spin Magazine, “is an electric guitar solo-laden ode to sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.” For more information, review copies of the album, or additional press requests, please contact me directly.

U2 Back In The Studio With Rick Rubin

U2 is working on material for its next studio album with producer Rick Rubin, according to the band’s Web site. The group has been at work on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004’s “How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” since last month. While in the studio, U2 will be joined by Green Day to record a cover of Scottish punk band the Skids’ “The Saints Are Coming.”

Proceeds from the track will benefit Music Rising, an instrument replacement fund co-founded by U2 guitarist the Edge last summer in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

“One year later, the devastation is still fresh in our minds, and we’d like to keep it in yours,” Green Day said in a post on its Web site. “New Orleans has always been a special city to us, being a hotbed of music and creativity, and it’s hard to believe parts of the Gulf region still remain devastated. We feel that it’s important to continue to raise awareness.”

Meanwhile, a DVD chronicling U2’s Zoo TV tour will arrive Sept. 19 via Island/UME.

This U.S. tour comes on the heels of Soulfly’s return to the U.S. from a remarkable European tour. Playing to sold-out crowds, Soulfly now prepares to destroy the U.S. on their DARK AGES 2006 Tour. Frontiers records release details of Pretty Maids comeback disc

Frontiers Records is excited to reveal all details surrounding the much anticipated PRETTY MAIDS come back album entitled “Wake Up To The Real World” to be released on November 10th 2006.

PRETTY MAIDS is a legendary Hard Rock / Heavy Metal combo from Denmark founded in early 1982 by guitarist Ken Hammer and singer Ronnie Atkins.

After 10 studio albums, 2 Ep, 1 Best Of and 2 live albums, in 2002 the band celebrated their 20th anniversary with the release of the album “Planet Panic” followed by a successful European tour. But at the end of the same year they decided to take a long break from recording and touring. Now in 2006 the band is finally ready to release their long awaited “come back album” entitled “Wake Up To The Real World”.
In singer Ronnie Atkins’ words: “The new record has all the trademarks a good PRETTY MAIDS album should have and that’s the overall combination of good melodies and strong guitar riffs. But the keyword as far as I’m concerned is it’s gotta be melodic: whether it’s the heavier and faster tracks or the more ballad/AOR oriented kind of stuff, in other words “good songs“ and I think the album has got that!”

With renewed energy, new visions, a new drummer (former ROYAL HUNT skinsman Allan Tsichaja) and a brand new album, PRETTY MAIDS is once again ready to face the crowd and rock the world.

“Wake Up To The Real World” shall feature the following eleven songs:
Wake Up To The Real World; All In The Name of Love; I Am The End; As Guilty As You; Why Die For A Lie; Such A Rush; Where True Beauty Lies; Brave Young New Breed; Terminal Violence; Perfect Strangers; Another Shot Of You Love.

PRETTY MAIDS will be specially appearing at the UNITED FORCES OF ROCK Festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany on October 1st 2006. Don’t miss ’em !

Canadian Specialty Cable Channel Signs On As Exclusive Broadcaster Of ‘Let It Rock’ DVD;
1-hour Condensed Version Of DVD To Air 9 Times Over Next 3 Years
First air date September 23 @ 8pm on BRAVO! TV – Ch.40 for Canadian cable subscribers
Toronto, ON – Bravo! TV has signed on to an exclusive three-year deal with Eagle Rock Entertainment to broadcast Let It Rock: At the Crossroads of Rock ‘n’ Roll, a live concert DVD release packed with footage of some of the world’s greatest rock n’ roll musicians under one roof for a night of unforgettable performances at Toronto’s legendary Massey Hall.

Let It Rock was a live concert event staged in Toronto on January 12, 1995 in celebration of legendary rowdy rocker Ronnie Hawkins’ 60th Birthday. The concert, which was hosted by Ronnie Hawkins, featured an all-star cast of special guests including Jeff Healey, The Band, Lawrence Gowan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and The Rock’n’Roll Orchestra who did a stellar job of backing the show.  The Rock’n’Roll Orchestra was superb and the capacity crowd at Toronto’s legendary Massey Hall gave standing ovation after standing ovation and were on their feet throughout the entire show.

The audience was packed with some of Canada’s biggest names including singer songwriter Marc Jordan, Amy Sky, Domionic Troianno, The Stampeders, Robbie Lane, Al & Sara Waxman and even sports celebrity Don Cherry was in attendance, just to name just a few.  It was a night to remember and the concert has become known as the “Rock’n’Roll Show of its decade”.

Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Ronnie Hawkins all rose to success in the 1950’s, right when country and blues were melding into rockabilly.  They would have an incredible impact on the development of rock n’ roll and the music that exists today.  Other acts followed in their footsteps and pushed the boundaries of rock music even further.

In the tenth anniversary year of the magical Let It Rock concert, music industry powerhouse Eagle Rock Entertainment, through its Eagle Vision brand, relased the stellar concert and documentary worldwide (release date: August 23, 2005).  Let It Rock: At the Crossroads of Rock n’ Roll offers fans an opportunity to discover and rediscover the music “that would challenge the times at its birth and change the course of music forever.”

Special DVD features include: an updated audio remix of the concert for Dolby and 5.1 Surround Sound; performances and tributes to some of rock history’s biggest names and many of the unsung heroes of Rock n’ Roll; rare, never before seen footage including vintage clips of Elvis Presley and The Beatles; a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the concert and a Director’s commentary track.  Let It Rock: At the Crossroads of Rock n’ Roll is a must-have DVD package for anyone who is a music fan or interested in the roots of Rock n’ Roll!

Jim promises to go back to the more melodic and straight ahead sound of the debut album and to keep all the melodic rock fans happy with the new songs he’s writing. The release of the album is scheduled for February or March 2007.

MTM MUSIC announces the release of BEGGARS BRIDE “Boulevard Of Broken Hearts”!

Rockabilly musician Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, dead at 69

Rockabilly singer and songwriter Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, who worked with Elvis Presley and had a top 20 hit in 1964 with the bouncy Haunted House, has died. He was 69. He died Tuesday at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a long illness, Holland-Harris Funeral Directors said.
Simmons – not to be confused with the Kiss bassist with the same name – was in show business for more than 50 years, working with such names as Sam Phillips and the Bill Black Combo. More recently, he co-wrote Indian Outlaw, which became a big hit in 1994 for country superstar Tim McGraw.
But his biggest success came in 1964 with the novelty song Haunted House, which reached No. 11 on the Billboard pop chart and launched Simmons on a world tour.
Among other early gigs, he performed as an opening act for Presley in Tupelo, Presley’s birthplace and Simmons’ longtime hometown, as Presley’s career was taking off, said his son, Cary Simmons.
After appearing in some Memphis clubs, Simmons signed with Sun Records, the legendary Memphis label formed by Phillips that launched the careers of Presley, Johnny Cash and other stars.
While he didn’t have the chart success of other Sun performers, Simmons’ recordings have become known to later generations through reissues. Brian Setzer did a version of Simmons’ Peroxide Blonde in a Hopped Up Model Ford on his Rockabilly Riot Vol. 1: A Tribute to Sun Records.
Simmons, born in Itawamba County in 1937, spent most of his life in northeastern Mississippi although he lived for a time in Memphis.
