TORONTO: On Tuesday, April 4th, Lacuna Coil will be signing copies of their brand new album Karmacode at the Toronto HMV Megastore at 333 Yonge Street from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
*Catch Lacuna Coil live with Rob Zombie on April 4th at The Kool Haus in Toronto.

LACUNA COIL initially left their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed album, Comalies, which opened several opportunities for them that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band, such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance resulting in over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with a quarter of a million in the U.S. alone.

The lead track from Karmacode, “Our Truth,” received its worldwide debut on the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack, where it appeared alongside such acclaimed artists as Puscifer (Maynard Keenan’s [Tool, A Perfect Circle] new project), Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Atreyu and more.

With four full-length albums and two EPs now to their credit, Lacuna Coil have ensured that each offering further enunciates the subtle, solemn beauty they create. Karmacode takes that a step further, seeing them further mature as musicians and songwriters to deliver their most cohesive, career-defining album. If karma has anything to do with it, Italy’s most successful rock export will not have to wait long for the entire mainstream world to take notice.

March 31, 2006 – Sonic City is an exciting new rock band from Vancouver, BC that has been causing a stir at every live performance.  The new album has arrived and will be in stores April 22nd while the band is touring across Canada.  The tour kicks off in Vancouver April 7th and then Sonic City will perform in Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg and Toronto.

Sonic City was formed around 12 year old guitarist Danny Sveinson, who began playing guitar at 8 years old and started performing as The Rock and Roll Kid at 10.  He was quickly proclaimed “A Guitar God in Training” on the cover of Vancouver’s Georgia Straight and has been featured on MTV, YTV, The Mike Bullard Show, The Vicky Gabereau Show and the historic Showtime at the Apollo.  Legends such as Alex Lifeson, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Perry, and Jimmy Page influenced Danny’s soulful yet edgy style.  The guitar wiz has already performed with the legendary Les Paul in New York.  Film Production Company Mars Entertainment has filmed a one hour documentary, which has already been picked up by the CBC, Knowledge Network and SLC in Canada and The Sundance Channel in the USA.

Sveinson wrote or co-wrote four of the ten tracks on the retro-tinged self-titled album. Acclaimed singer/songwriter Rod Burn fronts Sonic City and wrote or co-wrote all the songs except for Sveinson’s “Turbo.”  The driven rock and roll Burn performs resonates with fans and his enthusiasm and adrenaline on stage only serves to further the experience.  Bassist James Green and drummer Dean Richards round out the four piece band, together creating a genuine buzz throughout the North American music industry. The first single “So Far Away” was recently released to rock radio across Canada.

David Lee Roth brings a Twang to VanHalen songs

David Lee Roth will be singing Van Halen songs again this spring, but not with the band. Roth is featured on three tracks on Strummin’With the Devil, a collection of Van Halen songs done in bluegrass style that will be released on June 6th. Roth joins the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band for twangy renditions of “Jump” and “Jamie’s Cryin’,” as well as a special radio edit of the latter.

The album also features David Grisman and Sons, Blue Highway, Mountain Heart, Iron Horse, and others offering new interpretations of such Van Halen favorites as “Runnin’With The Devil,” “Hot For Teacher,” “Panama,” “Eruption,” “Ice Cream Man,” “Dance The Night Away,” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”

In addition to his country and bluegrass credits, Jorgenson has also recorded and toured with Elton John.

In the liner notes, the Indiana-born Roth explains that “my roots were always kind of country — not the same country as my first band. Their flag had windmills. Mine had BBQ pit and a shot glass.”

Upcoming CD from Michael Kiske

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of MICHAEL KISKE new solo album simply entitled “Kiske” on May 19th 2006.

Surrounded by a positive and totally free environment, made of great friends and musicians (Karsten Nagel – an old schoolmate – on drums and Sandro Giampietro and Fontaine Burnett on guitars and bass respectively), Michael Kiske gained again strong confidence with his music and expressive style.

The resulting album: “Kiske” is a very personal statement – from the beginning to the end. “The best way of describing what this record stands for in my mind and personal world would be: it’s a health-careless and musically free!”, says the well known German singer, who also adds: “I somehow managed to break down or overcome more subconscious barriers as a songwriter this time. I was able to write and produce a record that could either be a nice ending or beginning for a new career”.

Michael wanted to tirelessly explore his more melodic and straightforward roots producing a record that is completely free from all pressure and that could portrait the artist in its most personal musical statements.

Tracklisting of “Kiske” shall be as follows: Fed By Stones; All-Solutions; Knew I Would; Kings Fall; Hearts Are Free; The King Of It All; Sing My Song; Silently Craving; Truly; Painted; Sad As The World.

European release date is settled on May 19th 2006, while the release in Japan shall happen on King Records. The record will also be available via download on I-Tunes and other fine digital shops within one month from the physical release date.

At the same time of the release of the new studio record, Michael Kiske has allowed Frontiers Records to reissue his first solo album “Instant Clarity” released originally in 1996.

This 2006 reissue will be sold in mid-price series and shall add three brand newly recorded bonus tracks and the original Japanese only bonus track.

The final tracklisting shall be therefore be as follows: Be True To Yourself; The Calling; Somebody Somewhere; Burned Out; New Horizons; Hunted; Always; Thanx A Lot!; Time’s Passing By; So Sick; Do I Remember A Life?; A Songs Is Just A Moment (*); I Don’t Deserve Love (§); Sacred Grounds (§); Can’t Tell (§).
(*) Original bonus track of the Japanese edition of “Instant Clarity”.
(§) Brand newly recorded bonus tracks.

The music on “Instant Clarity” can be described as Hard Rock, with a wide range of different influences. Kiske’s vocals vary from emotional low and mid-range ones to really wonderful and clean high-pitched ones. As a whole the album got excellent critics and was very well received from all fans of Michael Kiske’s voice and songwriting.

TOMMY DENANDER finished his new DEACON STREET and the line-up will definitely whet every AOR / melodic rock fan’s appetite!

The project DEACON STREET originally started out with Tommy and his partner Chris Demming (AOR, Spin Gallery), who had written songs together for various artists and found themselves with a lot of very good but unused AOR / melodic rock songs. But, as Tommy points out, “Don’t mistake it for a cheap and fast way to get some leftover songs out – If you’re a serious fan of classy melodic rock you won’t be disappointed with the quality of this release”.

The new album by DEACON STREET, “II”, now features even bigger names: Stan Bush, Christopher Cross, Jeff Watson (Night Ranger), Steve Morse (Kansas, Deep Purple), Reb Beach (Winger, Dok-ken), Bruce Gaitsch (Richard Marx, Madonna, Peter Cetera), Thomas Vikström (Talk Of The Town), Andreas Novak, Johan Fahlberg (Jaded Heart), Bobby Messano (Glen Burtnick, Fiona, Joe Lynn-Turner), Bill Leverty (Firehouse) among others.

“II” includes 14 great AOR / melodic rock songs in the vein of JOURNEY and GIANT, enhanced by an admirable musician-ship, beautiful arrangements, and an excellent production. This makes DEACON STREET’s “II” a definite must-have for fans of the artists mentioned above and of course for everyone who enjoys fine and well-produced AOR & melodic rock!

DA VINCI release new album in May

In 1987, five young men from Oslo, Norway were signed by Polygram and joined forces to record an album of finest Scandinavian AOR and Melodic Rock: DA VINCI’s self-titled debut. In the tradition of other Scandinavian rock bands of the mid-80’s such as Treat, Europe or Dalton, DA VINCI delivered well-produced songs full of hooks, driven by guitars and stunning keyboards.

The success of the critically acclaimed debut immediately resulted in a second effort, “Back In Business’” from 1989, which is also considered to be a real gem among melodic rock aficionados worldwide.

Bass player Bjorn Boge later joined STREET LEGAL and played with ex-EUROPE lead guitarist JOHN NORUM ‘Wild Willy’ Bendickson from BAD HABIT among others.

Today, DA VINCI’s self-titled debut is a sought-after collector’s gem, selling for an average of $70 – if you’re lucky enough to find a copy. Thus, MTM CLASSIX is proud release this rare diamond digitally remastered with an exclusive bonus track.

Canada’s leading ambassadors of fun times, The Salads, are back with a new album The Big Picture, which drops May 9, 2006.  Never a band to stay off the road for too long, the band is confirmed for this years Warped Tour and are planning to tour non-stop across Canada.

During The Salads ten years together, they have built up a loyal fan base, particularly after the commercial success of 2003’s Fold A To B, which meant they were in demand to tour a lot; headlining clubs and colleges, and playing on bills such as: Warped, Edgefest, Labatt Blue Motel, City-TV’s New Year’s Eve Bash and The Ice Hotel.

Songs like “Get Loose” and “Today Is Your Lucky Day” (respectively from 2003’s Fold A To B and 2005’s Band Gone Wild DVD – both on Maui Wowie Records/ Kindling Music / Warner Music Canada) have been heard around the world in films like Dreamworks Eurotrip, on TV during Queer As Folk, Hockey Night In Canada and the Olympics and in national commercials for Labatt Blue and GM Canada.

Unlike Fold A To B, which was well varied in style, sound and subject matter, The Big Picture turned out to be a more focused Salads record, lyrically and musically; writing became more mature and music got a bit heavier.  Produced by Dan Brodbeck (Dolores O’Riordan/Cranberries, Headstrong), The Big Picture’s tone is more personal and yet universal as it touches more meaningful topics than the band had dared explore before.

“Growing Up” deals with life’s changes as you get older and come to terms with that reality.  Memories of 80’s thrash metal surround the concept of being happy in your own skin in “Individual”.  “Circles” is about watching the most intelligent person you know battle Alzheimer’s disease. Trying to affect real, positive social change is dealt with in “A Better Way”.  This album displays The Salads at their best: as songwriters, as a band, and as men.

Not to worry, The Salads have not gotten too serious on you; they will still bring the fun times to every live show.  The only way to they know is to keep their sense of humor and keep focused on THE BIG PICTURE!

On An Island — the third David Gilmour album and the artist’s first studio recordings since Pink Floyd’s 1994 multi-platinum The Division Bell — will be in stateside stores Tuesday, March 7.

From the first moments of the sound collage that begins On An Island, you know it’s a special experience that not only bears comparison with the best of Pink Floyd, but also confirms their lead guitarist and singer as an outstanding solo artist. Here he reveals a personal vision and a breadth of styles – folk, jazz, orchestral and rock – brought together as a unified piece through his lyrical guitar playing and instantly recognizable voice.

With orchestrations by the renowned Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner and a luminous production (assisted by Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera), virtuosity abounds On An Island Guest artists include David Crosby and Graham Nash singing harmonies, Robert Wyatt playing the cornet, Caroline Dale on cello, Alasdair Molloy on glass harmonica and Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright guesting on Hammond organ.
Gilmour shares writing credits with writer Polly Samson, continuing a collaborative partnership that began with The Division Bell. The album’s songs tell of shared experiences that evoke a breadth of moods, from the hauntingly beautiful title track ‘On An Island’ (with a guitar performance set to enter the Gilmour canon of classics) to the meditative ‘The Blue’ and ‘A Pocketful of Stones,’ as well as the heavier rock and blues numbers ‘Take A Breath’ and ‘This Heaven.’  In the spirit of intimacy, this album sees Gilmour’s debut on the saxophone, as well as contributions by contemporaries from his pre-Floyd days.

On An Island is a collection of songs and instrumentals that had its genus in the critically acclaimed 2002 London Festival Hall concerts. Gilmour has stepped out of his super-group to discover he’s still at his peak – and he’s rightly pleased. “It’s my best and most personal work,” he says.  “Making it with my musician friends has been a positive experience on so many levels.” And touring it this spring can only take him to a new high.

The ten tracks on On An Island, which has been produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera and Chris Thomas, are:

On An Island
The Blue
Take a Breath
Red Sky at Night
This Heaven
Then I Close My Eyes
A Pocketful of Stones
Where We Start

Additional performers on the album include David Crosby, Graham Nash, Richard Wright, Robert Wyatt, Phil Manzanera, Jools Holland, Georgie Fame, Caroline Dale, Guy Pratt, Willie Wilson, and, from Pink Floyd’s earliest incarnation, Rado ‘Bob’ Klose.

The ON AN ISLAND tour starts in Europe in March, goes to USA in April and returns to the UK at the end of May, with concerts in Manchester, Glasgow and London.

CRASH KELLY to support Alice Cooper

Anyone who has seen CRASH KELLY or checked out their debut Penny Pills knows that the Alice Cooper Band was a major influence on primary songwriter Sean Kelly. In fact, one of the strongest tracks on Penny Pills, “Love Me Electric,” was written after Sean read a biography on the Alice Cooper Band’s “trials and tribulations in the ’70s.”

Given this backdrop, it is with great pleasure that CRASH KELLY announces that it will be sharing the stage with Alice Cooper for select dates in May on his upcoming Canadian Tour. CRASH KELLY will support Alice on the first date of his Canadian tour on May 1, as well as the final two shows of the trek. In between those support dates, CRASH KELLY will be on the road for a Jagermeister-sponsored series of “Alice Cooper Afterparty” shows.

New BACKYARD BABIES live album now available

While anticipation builds for the release of their new studio album later this spring, why not relive the best of the BACKYARD BABIES in the setting in which they were meant to be experienced? The Swedish glam-punks’ first live album, Live Live In Paris, provides a memorable snapshot of the booze-fueled gutter rock that’s earned the quartet worldwide acclaim. Featuring five tracks that have never before been released in America, it aptly proves why Kerrang! recently called the group the kings of “shit-kicking sleaze.”

Frontiers Records is delighted to announce that English born vocalist DAVID READMAN – current member of PINK CREAM 69 and ex ADAGIO – has signed to the label for his upcoming debut solo album.

David is just completing the writing phase and has already laid down 12 drum tracks with‘s Producer of The Year 2005 and

PINK CREAM 69 colleague, Dennis Ward at the helm. Some song titles are Evil Combination, New Messiah and Over the Ocean”.

David’s ex-bandmate Dirk Bruinenberg (ex-ADAGIO) joins him on drums, with Paul Logue (CRY HAVOC) featuring on bass. Guitars are being handled by David himself. “With this record I’m trying to bring in all my great musicians I met over the years” explains David, adding: “This was something that I had wanted to do for many years now, ever since I started singing. I had collected songs over the years and finally it came the time to get it out there”.

Musically David describes the album as “basically Melodic Rock… with influences of my past projects, and of course not so far away from PINK CREAM 69”.
