Hypocrisy – 10 Years of Chaos and Confusion

This is pretty much Hypocrisy’s “best of” release and though I’m not a huge fan of this type of compilations, I must say the band did a pretty good job in putting it together. There’s a wide variety of songs here, some really thrashy riffing (Osculum Obscenum), some pretty raw death metal (Killing Art) and some slower, crunchy sounding songs (Apocalypse) and every single song on this recording is worth listening to repeatedly. The vocals are top notch and they really help the music unlike in other bands, Peter Tagtgren does a magnificent job for this great band. The production varies and a track or 2 show some problems with the guitar work (it appears a bit distant).

In addition to all this great stuff, if you get the limited edition of this release you’ll get the CD inside a small box which also includes a second CD that has some interesting stuff such as both Hypocrisy demos from ’91 and ’92 and 6 absolutely great video clips.

In all this is a great release and if you want to get into Hypocrisy this is definitely a good way to start!
